What is Your Attitude When God Does Not Answered Your Prayers?
Many times, we’ve talked about the importance of prayer and how it helps us. But in this blog post, we will discuss this topic: What is your attitude when God has not answered your prayers?
Is it possible that the Lord hasn’t answered your prayer?
This is what the Bible says in 1 John 5:14-15 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
Let us address a common misconception: when God answers “NO,” many of us may believe that He has not heard our prayers.
Remember, there is a significant difference between not receiving an answer and receiving a “NO.”
When we pray and feel like our prayers are met with silence, it's natural to experience a whirlwind of emotions. We might feel a heavy sadness, like a cloud has settled over our hearts. Disappointment can creep in, leaving us questioning why our hopes seem to go unheard. And sometimes, anger can surface, making us wrestle with feelings of betrayal or abandonment. It’s a challenging place to be, but it’s also a space where we can explore and deepen our faith, seeking understanding and connection even when the answers aren’t clear.
It’s okay to feel down… It’s okay to be upset… It’s okay to be frustrated with your situation. But what’s not okay is letting those emotions spiral into negative thinking that affects your behavior and distances you from God. You might think you’re still okay, but sometimes, we drift further than we realize.
So, how do you handle it when God says no to your prayers?
When God answers your prayers with a “NO,” there are two possible outcomes for your attitude:
A Negative Attitude, and a positive one.
But first, let’s define what we mean by attitude. According to John Maxwell, “Attitude is an inner feeling that is revealed through our actions.” In other words, your attitude can be seen even before you say a word.
Let’s talk about negative attitude—because even great Biblical heroes had attitude problems at times. Take King Saul, for instance. He began as a very humble man, but his pride, jealousy, and disobedience eventually ruined his good attitude. Driven by envy over David’s success and popularity, Saul had a desire even wanted to kill him. What did Saul say to Samuel? Saul answered, 1 Samuel 15:30 Then he said, “I have sinned; yet honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel, and return with me, that I may bow before the Lord your God.”
Even when he acknowledged his sin, his main concern was saving face before the people.
That’s why it’s important to assess ourselves carefully and not just make requests without reflection. As it says in 1 John 5:14, “We have confidence in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
And now, the Lord has helped me realize why people often feel disappointed when their prayers are not answered the way they like: it’s because they forget the latter part of verse 14, which says, “if we ask anything according to His will.”
One reason why a negative attitude develops is that we often seek our own will rather than His. Think about it—if every prayer were answered with a “YES” by God, the world would be chaotic! Things would only get messier if every prayer were granted exactly as people wished. Because I believe some human desires are not desirable.
God cannot compromise His will just to fulfill human desires. Some desires are good, but others are harmful. While our thoughts and behavior may change, God’s will remains unchanging. So, what did Samuel say to Saul? 1 Samuel 15:29 "And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or have regret, for he is not a man, that he should have regret.”
Beloved, the Lord doesn’t always answer with “YES.” Because even when God says “NO,” it is still an answered prayer.
So let’s not forget that it is still the Lord’s will that prevails. As it says in 1 John 5:15, And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

"FORGET THE FORMER THINGS"
â€â€Isaiah‬ â€43:18‬ â€NIrV‬‬
[18] “Forget the things that happened in the past. Do not keep on thinking about them.
Have you reflected on the happiness you experienced in the past? Perhaps you have also faced moments of hurt and sadness.
Dear love,
Life unfolds season by season. Whatever emotions you've encountered are valid. However, the Bible encourages us to forget the former things for us to move forward.
Whatever baggage you are carrying from your past, I hope you surrender it to Jesus. May you find peace and comfort in Him. If someone has hurt you deeply, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive them and let them go. Remember to be kind to yourself and embrace the journey of moving forward.
Always remember: You can't be happy dwelling on the past when things are now different and not meant to be used as they were. It's time to explore and step out of your comfort zone.
Love,
Merls 🤍
