I played Genocide Jack's UTDP Events. Here are the highlights.

Hope's Peak really looked at the most famous serial killer in Japan and accepted her in as a student. Normal people pay bucketloads just to get in the reserve course but Syo gets a free acceptance cause she's good at killing.

Genocide Jack sees Kiyo and immediately profiles him as ugly.

Amazing.

Yasuhiro fails the one job he was given.

Ahhhhhh she's so cute in this scene!

You have nothing to fear Chihiro, Genocide Jack gave you a nickname, she already loves you so she won't ever hurt you.

The most serious character vs the most silliest character.

Genocide Jack teaches Sonia the Fujoshi life.

I mean yeah she says this. Byakuya very likely told her to not kill but that's not the true reason why she stopped killing. She stopped killing as she wanted to stay in Hope's Peak with all her new friends.

Trigger Happy Havoc doesn't offer one definitive answer as to why Genocide Jack stopped killing, but she's smart. She knows being in Hope's Peak and killing would get her in trouble.

I like the bit of introspection about how a killer like her got a normal life at Hope's Peak.

Cause according to society and morality, she should not have a happy life nor deserve one for all the victims she's killed. But she got one anyway with no strings attached. Jack doesn't feel guilt being here but she knows it's not something she deserves.

Bruh, I had a dream that the Lifers were announcing a brand new SMP on a live stream of the trailer and for some reason I had the option for my voice to be heard on it if I was speaking so I was using it and talking about how cool it was out loud but didn't realise that no one else had this option so it was just me talking over the video and would then be there on the video permanently 😩😩😩 like ok, real "accidentally left my mic and cam on while at the school Zoom" ass nightmare, everyone complaining in the comments about the "annoying person talking over everything 💀" brooooooo why my words broadcast to the world like that

incidentally so i know some people like to claim grian has a widow's curse (his allies will always all die before him), right, and this doesn't ALWAYS hold perfectly true. but i think personally. if you have a Complex about the fact your allies always die before you. teaming up with mumbo and skizz is a choice. like, that is a decision you have made. you could have always gone back to etho, grian. etho normally does pretty well. scar, too, despite reputation. impulse would surely team back up with you again. but no. mumbo and skizz. there really was only ever one way THAT one would end, huh,

Bamboozlers i love you guys but it's VERY hard to maintain my faith right now. Jimmy's died from a creeper too many times. Scar... Third Life: What if gay people went to war?

Last Life: What if gay people betrayed each other?

Double Life: The worlds messiest divorce leads to a woman going on a murder spree because she found out her state assigned boyfriend was gay. also in the background, toxic yaoi between an eldritch demigod and his government mandated therapist.

Limited Life: Found Family. Also local fish and demon are SHOCKED when the man famous for constantly plotting to betray and kill his allies in order to win betrays and kills them in order to win

Secret Life: God comes down from the heavens because it decided that what these idiots needed was MORE yes-and, and then sticks around to bully a man about having no friends.

Real Life: The debatably cannon april fools episode where you can watch people get extreme nausea and learn what its like to be short.

The funniest Naegirigami dynamic is Kyoko and Makoto being in an established relationship and Byakuya wanting to join in sooo bad.

Everyone assumes that he’s just third wheeling when, in actuality, he’s just trying to weasel his way into a throuple.

Remember ages ago when I said Freema did an interview talking about Martha and what she was and wasn't happy with in regards to the story? I found it!

Interviewer: ...Do you still think about her? How do you think about Martha in the year 2019.

Freema: Ah yeah I just did a convention with David [Tennant] recently actually and he said something that um, I hadn't heard before, and he was asked about that relationship between the two chatacters and he said 'I think that the Doctor wasn't fair on her' and I sorta looked at him and I was like...I've never heard your take on that before because I knew at the time you know she was...for me there was definitely a kind of beat that they struck on that stayed maybe a little bit too long. It was the unrequited storyline an I think they stopped exploring her as a fully rounded human being in light of that and Russell [T. Davies] did say you know, it's important to him though that people can sometimes see that...you know love doesn't always have to be reciprocated and it's okay to kind of...most of us probably have that in common that we have unreciprocated...emotions than reciprocated and I was like no that's cool I get that but people also tune in for escapism and for romance and all of the magic and the, you know, the imagination so sometimes to be like grounded back down into hard truth isn't very attractive. *Laughs* So I kind of felt like she got stuck a little bit amd when people ask me if if I would go back it would only be to explore her as a fully rounded person more and she had so much going on and then it got stuck for whatever reason. But I had the best time and I feel like there's so much more potential to that person.

The Danganronpa books are all really good and here's why you should read them.

Danganronpa Zero is a really good origin story that explores junko's character and the a lot of the shady stuff with Hope's Peak along with introducing a lot of things that would become staples of the series like Izuru Kamukura and the reserve course. It's also consistently referenced all throughout the series.

Danganronpa Kirigiri is not only a great origin story for Kyoko, it also has plenty of great new characters, interesting mysteries, and amazing themes. The author would even go on to work on Danganronpa v3 and create all the crazy murder methods in that game. In my personal opinion this is probably the best written entry in the entire series.

Danganronpa IF is not only a fun what if story but also a great character study of Mukuro who now finally understands her sister and recontextualizes a lot of things, it's also just really fun in general.

Makoto Naegi Secret File is a short but entertaining story about the events that led Makoto to becoming a student at Hope's Peak. It adds some neat context and some interesting foreshadowing, plus it's just really weird lol.

Not my favorite (least favorite actually) but Danganronpa Togami is an absolutely insane read with one of the most baffling plot twists in the series. Only the most curious of souls should read this.

Ultra Despair Hagakure is just a generally really funny story about Yasuhiro in Towa City where he bumps into a lot of crazy people while trying to get money to pay his debts, it's silly and fun. Don't expect Shakespeare, it's just a fun time.

Danganronpa 1-2 Beautiful Days is a collection of non-canon stories similar to the anthology comics, overall it's just really neat but the story "Nanami the Adventurer" absolutely is a must read for perfectly explaining what makes Danganronpa 2's cast great.

Not technically a novel but Danganronpa Gaiden is a fun thriller with cool characters and interesting world building, it has some issues but it's definitely worth checking out.

Also not technically a novel but Kirigiriso is a really weird but interesting crossover story with Danganronpa and Otogiriso about kyoko discovering a plant infested mansion. If you enjoyed Danganronpa Kirigiri or Kyoko as a character in general, you might get some enjoyment out of this

The entire "Danganronpa Kirigiri" series is now available in English.

I don't do Reddit much, which is probably why I only just learned yesterday (courtesy of @vampietears) that Danganronpa Kirigiri Volumes 1-7 have all been translated into English and made available as PDF versions in the past year.

I searched Tumblr for any mention of this and found absolutely none, so I feel confident that I'm far from the only person who didn't know these were available.

CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULES, DR fans! It's definitely going to take me some time to work through the whole series, but I hope (eh? eeeehhh?) to enjoy the process.
