“You certainly chat quite a bit for someone believing they’re soon to be eaten with what little defensive ability they have. Perhaps you should spend your last breaths as you see them on something more productive?” Eira clicks her tongue, looking none of these things herself as she flits her eyes around them. “Honestly.” The word punctuates her sentence and coincides with the flare of her magic. Heat and sparks fluctuate around the pair, raising the temperature around them dramatically and singing the air. The air explodes outward from the rush of power, momentarily stunning the beasts just enough for her to do what she needed.

“Burn to ashes.” She lashes out her arm, coalesced orbs of flame materializing and lancing out as burning spears that pierce through the closest aggressors. The fire magic eats them from the inside, bringing them low if not killing them outright. There was little they could do against the surgical attack. Shadow would be eaten away like flesh. Much like a ray of superheated plasma her magic was a fearsome thing to behold.

A spin on her heel, first to make sure that the other girl was fine before she clenches her fist. Another beast had saw fit to lunge, putting it in the range of her aura that fueled her other attacks. It was like jumping into an oven for the foolish hound, its fur and skin igniting instantly as she focuses her power and gaze on it. All too quickly it and any other beasts that drew close met the same fate. All the while Nari was untouched, if uncomfortably hot while remaining in Eira’s vicinity (which is the smart move here).

“Are there any left? This isn’t how I intended to spend my afternoon.” She says with a frustrated sigh. The anger seeps away from her features as it would appear, at least for the moment, that whatever threat they were under was at the very least standing down from attacking again. A moment’s respite had been found. “I fail to understand what they’re doing here attacking us in the open. Bold attacks from pathetic beasts like this.”

"Wow!! That is an excellent question there. Thank you for asking!"

If the prolonged silence that stretched over the two wasn't indication enough that Nari had no answer to Eira's inquiry on how many were left, then it should go without saying that she wouldn't comment on why and how the beasts attacked in the first place. In the open no less, as Eira had put it. However, for a change, she had an answer to that one. And it may or may not have something involved with Nari trespassing on their territory... and dropping some goodies (undoubtedly the smell of the sweets attracting their sharp senses) that definitely weren't stored away in her skirt pocket, all safe and sound. At the expense of being a bit flushed from the heat but hey it was a small enough price she was willing to pay. And so, Nari could only smile her way out of this one. At least, if only to spare the embarrassment (especially with how stinging her words from earlier had been, ouch). That said, she really had no clue as to how many of them were left. The nest she'd come across not terribly big (in her humble opinion). Eira made clean work of them anyway. So it's best to think that that was the end of that!

"Anyway! Let's just put aside the why's, how's, and who's! They're dead anyway, so it's fine! Your magic is pretty nifty! It seems like something that can get you out of a bind in a snap! Though... a little too hot for me, ha. I'm guessing you can't make the flames cooler for the next time I need your help, huh?"

Wait, next time?! 

"Compared to how cool your powers are, I guess mine's pretty useless. At least, in a place like this anyway. Who knows, maybe I can learn a thing or two if you teach me how to use fire magic like that!"

As she says this, Nari rocks back and forth on her heels with her eyes looking to the ground. There was a hint of a smile playing on her lips. Here, solid concrete covers the earth, and there was no hope of plant life thriving underneath the impenetrable stone barrier. She knew this better than anyone, having come from yet another city that had such little life in it. She kicks her foot up in the air. Her cheery gaze returning to the young woman.

"Well, I know it's not the way you wanted to spend your afternoon but thanks anyway for your help! You really saved my bacon back there. How about I treat you to something as a reward? Beer? Food? Well, whatever the hero of this story wants I’ll pay for. And before you do, you can't say no to this offer, I have to repay you somehow or way!"
