Olivia was in need of a cousin night. It had been a while since her and Melody hang out just the two of them and what better time to spend with family then holidays. Plus she was kind of sucker for baking. “Sounds good.” she smiled. “Also thanks for doing this with me. Between my normal Christmas stress and other thoughts going through my head, I just needed some time to relax and do a non stressful holiday activity.” she chuckled and looked at everything they needed as she threw on an apron. “So tell me what’s been up on with you. We haven’t talked in awhile. Another new going on?”

“You’re welcome, they say that the holidays bring people together, right?” Melody asked as she grabbed the bigger mixer and placed it onto the island. “As along this makes you relax, then it’ll be worth it.” She grabbed the recipe, placed in between the two girls, she shrugged a bit and glanced back at Olivia. “You know, doing my own thing in the shadows and trying not to get sick again. Nope, nothing new is going on with me, honestly. Though, Im going to be changing that this new year.” She paused and truly looked at her cousin. “What about you? What’s going on with you?”

Decorating had always been more his mom and sister’s thing; his eye for coordination was severely lacking, it was a miracle if he could get himself dressed. He wasn’t sure why Melody had asked him to help out this year, she should know by now the living room would just look like  a hot mess if he so much as hung garland around the fireplace. But he had to admit, he wasn’t entirely upset with the idea, and she made a point. It had been a while since the two of them had really done anything together. Nik shrugged and let out a hum, acting as though he had been contemplating not showing up at all. “Well, you know, I thought about staying back in Auradon but them Mom would never let me hear the end of it,” he said with a roll of his eyes. But as much as he protested, it was the contrary. He really enjoyed coming home for the holidays, and he was kind of a sucker for those Hallmark movie worthy moments like decorating the house together. “Okay, Mel? I know our living room’s huge, but don’t you think this is overkill?”

“To be honest? I wouldnt blame you and I agree, she would be talking about it. Almost every day of break.” Melody replied as she pulled out the tree topper, placed it on a table. She let out a chuckle as she nodded before she looked at her brother. “Yeah, its overkill. You should’ve heard mom’s and I’s conversation the other night. I tried telling her that we don’t have to go overkill but you know her. She needs to go bigger, every Christmas. Which.” She pulled out some decorations she didn't even recognized and looked like they were from their mother’s collection. “Doesn’t make any sense, its like we’re literally in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Jim Carey one, not the newest one and our mother entered some type of interior decorating competition or she wants to be an interior decorator.” She shrugged before she placed the garland back in the box.

Melody: The tradition is, you kiss that special someone when the clock strikes midnight, as a way to ring in the new year and new beginnings.

Melody: I totally get it, I do.

Melody: Also, you don't have to kiss anyone if you don't want too.

🎄 for our muses to put up Christmas decorations together. 

Melody placed all of the decorations near the tree and hoped that it wouldn't look so crowded. Granted the living room was big. She sighed as she brushed back some of her hair, tucked a piece behind her ear, and started to unpack all of the decorations while she waited for Nik to join her. It was nice to spend quality family time with her little brother, since they both had been busy between school, homework, and other personal reasons. She heard footsteps right before she looked up and smiled at him. “Hey, I started to wonder if I would see you during this break.” She teased right before she pointed to an open box and slid another box towards him.

Melody was looking forward to be spending more time with Olivia, since the two haven’t really talked since last month and she had been missing the girl. She pulled out all of the ingredients that they needed, made a mental note to clean up the kitchen shortly after they put the cookies in the oven. She didn’t want to upset Chef Louie with their mess, even though he had the night off. She signed after she counted everything and pulled out the measuring cups that they had. “Okay, so. I think I have all of the ingredients and if not, then we can always think of something else to make. Sound good?” She asked her cousin, with a soft smile.

Melody had to admit, she was really looking forward to the eggnog this year and spending time with family. Well, more of having conversations with her family than the eggnog, but that was going to act like a way to talk to people. She had hoped. She was walking from the kitchen as she took a sip, hoping it was good like everyone had made it out to be and made a mhm sound before she continued to drink it. By the time she was done with her fourth glass, she could feel the alcohol. “Youknow, I should thank whoever brought the eggnog this year.” She said as she glanced into the cup before she took another sip and glanced into it before she looked over at her cousin then at the cup.

Well I don’t really feel going to detail about my reasoning, especially after having a pointless, back and fourth conversation with someone about it. So let’s just stick with I like kissing people and figured I should at least get into the holiday spirit a little bit even if through a plant like mistletoe. 

Is it really pointless when I get to see why you like misletoe so much iif you explained yourself? I mean, everyone has their reasons but got it loud & clear.
