Ah love ! This feeling so ridiculously powerful, so deeply selfish, so conditional, so cliché ! To celebrate the capitalist day of love -if I've managed my calendar correctly- we'll talk about "Strange Magic" !

Quick notable changes -I took inspiration from folklores about faes and fairies, so the original Fairy Kingdom is part of the Seelie court (commonly benevolent faes) and the original Dark Forest is part of the Unseelie court (commonly malevolent faes). -Seelies are divided into several castes, with Pillywiggins being rulers and Brownies being servants. -The original Sugar Plum Fairy (no, it's not a Nutcracker post and I don't know why they named her like that) is renamed Amore. -The Unseelies are faes that don't tolerate sunlight well, so they live mostly at night and in other dark places. But since their forest is full of danger and savage animals, the faes have a bad reputation among the Seelie court. -Still, the Unseelie court is a welcoming land to most people and particularly faes who doesn't fit Seelies norms. Hence why Amore moved in when whe had a wing torn off (there she became the court's alchemist and Bog's closest friend). -Steel is a dangerous poison for all Faes, whichever court they are from. Iron is okay.

In my new scenario, Marianne wouldn't have become Xena: Warrior Fairy because of some romantic disappointment, but because her mother was killed by animals from the Dark Forest. So she toughened up and learned to fight until she became chief of the Seelie army. When Dawn is struck by a spell that steals her heart, Marianne takes her to the Unseelie court, to meet the fairy Amore and find a solution. In the process, the sisters face their childhood trauma and realize that the Unseelies are not as evil as they think. And Marianne may end up letting her guard down a little and letting herself fall in love.

In my new scenario, Dawn was very young when her mother died. As a result, she lived a much more sheltered life than Marianne, who threw herself into her training. She really only has a bookish knowledge of the world around her. So she's more booksmart than streetsmart (except for social protocols and politics). But Dawn longs and wishes to experience the real world -and find a good way to show her feelings for Sunny, her Brownie valet. One day, she's struck by an unknown spell that steals her heart and puts her into a coma. Only the fairy Amore can save her, which involves a diplomatic journey into the Unseelie Forest and a race to find Dawn's heart.

Based on Brownies, small beings who do household chores until humans pay them with new clothes and a warm meal.

Sunny has been Princess Dawn's special servant since childhood. But less in r/NiceGuy mode and more in Westley #asyouwish mode. When Dawn is struck by the spell that steals her heart, Sunny fearlessly takes part to the journey to the Dark Forest to retrieve what he needs to save his beloved. During the adventure, he'll decides to declare himself, even if it means breaking all conventions, rather than risk losing Dawn without ever having been able to tell her how he feels.

If I had to rewrite the movie, Bog would come across as cold and untouchable, but no one would be fooled for long and he'd quickly appear as a benevolent lord. He is nevertheless uncomfortable when it comes to romance, his ex having tried to poison him with love potion only to get tired of it and dump him at the worst possible moment. So when a Seelie delegation comes to beg for help from the fairy Amore, who settled in the forest after losing a wing, he's rather suspicious and unsupportive. But his sense of duty pushes him to agree to help them and participate in the search for the secret ingredient to give Princess Dawn her heart back : primrose petals. And during the adventure, Bog will end up getting closer to Princess Marianne, each trying to help the other heal their traumas.

My Roland would be the prototype of the masculinist and speciesist social climber that he seemed to have been written as in the original. He wants to marry Marianne for the "pride" of being THE male who managed to tame the best swordswoman in the kingdom, become king and pacify the Dark Forest. Since he can neither conquer nor impress her, he turns to Heart Magic, a very unstable form of magic generally used to ensure eternal submission love. Except that he messed up the formula and struck Dawn with a curse that stole her heart. In order to cover his tracks, make himself look good and find another opportunity to bewitch Marianne; he participates in the expedition into the Dark Forest. Which will leave time for sequences showing his speciesism and his manipulative side, even towards his own soldiers. Until the moment when, enraged and exhausted by this whole story, he'll finally crack and shows what a monster he is.
