this what i think bts love language is
a/n: this just my thoughts besties i ain’t do no formal type of research or nun just let my lil imagination sprint 🥸🤪
namjoon:
physical affection/words of affirmation
okay so i said physical affection for one bc like he seem to like initiate contact with people around him a lot
like in interviews he be having his hand on whoever next to him thigh or like when he be performing if it’s someone next to him he throws his arms around them a lot
not to mention like whenever jimin or jk or whoever start feeling up on him he never rejects it or makes a face or anything like yoongi does he just accepts it
like there’s so many stage clips where jimin will come and rest his chin on joon’s shoulder and he just lets him
or jk will just start touching on him some way grabbing his arms or sumn and it doesn’t phase him at all
another example is like on day 2 of sowoozoo when tae randomly came and linked arms with him and hobi during mikrokosmos hobi was like 🥴🥴 but joon was just 😌
and then there was that magic shop muster moment when jk was talking about how much he loved joon and how he was his beginning you know as president of the joon fan club does and namjoon couldn’t help but to go over and give his number one admirer a hug you know the moment
same thing with compliments he lowkey be eating them up
like you know how whenever hobi gets complimented he be like “😶 don’t say those things” joon don’t do that
like when they was asked to take their jackets off during the butter shoot and namjoon was like yeah okay and everyone started hyping him up and he was just 💁🏼♂️😜
and again on day 2 sowoozoo when he pushed his hair back from his forehead and everyone went OHHHHHSWJJSJS SEXY NAMJOON and then he decided to murder us all by tilting his head back on top of that adding insult to injury i would insert the picture but for my mental health i will not
and again whenever they talk about him being such a great leader he never shies away from it doesn’t cringe always accepts it so you know it must mean a lot for him to hear those things
aside from that tho he’s such a poetic person
like he is definitely involved in an intimate affair with language so there’s no way he wouldn’t appreciate you verbally telling him how he makes you feel
like just think about how many times he’s said he wants to sit down with each army and listen to their story
that being said if this was your man i think you’d definitely have to both show and tell him how you feel
like if he was about to head out for work you definitely got to kiss him before he leaves
and if you on the phone with him the last words you’re saying are i love you
and he’s definitely gonna cherish it each time always gonna have that cute little smile dimples caved in his cheeks bc you love him and he feels it
seokjin:
acts of service/words of affirmation
alright so ngl the reason i said acts of service for seokjin is like almost 100% based on his reaction to tae setting up that birthday event for him where he had his friends send him messages
he talked about it for WEEKS like he was genuinely so moved that i just like he has to love it
and then there’s like how much he bothers jk to like do simple stuff like i’m specifically thinking about that one moment in bon voyage 4 when he was sitting down at the table and called jk to help him up
and then there’s also little things he does for others like when he peeled tae’s tangerines for him or when he offered to feed yoongi bc he was driving or how he always offers bites of his food before even gets a chance to taste it
now i say words of affirmation bc he always searching for a compliment
my minds going to when jk hurt his foot and jin was pushing him in the wheelchair and kept feeding him lines to say about how he was such a good hyung and how he loves him
or in the behind the scenes for the boy with luv video and he kept tryna get tae to compliment him for being witty
and my boy never misses a chance to introduce himself as worldwide handsome
even though he does a lot of those things jokingly there are moments when he’s serious too about giving compliments and shy when he receives them like in those be interviews when he called jk a singing genius and jungkook was talking about how he had the most range and he got all ☺️☺️
or that moment from in the soop when he was comforting yoongi about like not having regrets and when yoongi told him he wanted to be like him just those kinds of moments let me know words are important to him
which just made me remember how hard he tries with his lyrics and how important they are to him like when he was writing awake and he talked about how he kept getting rejected but he was super insistent bc it was important for him to sing the words he wrote and don’t even get me started on moon i just-
anyway jin done said many times he is a man of the present so if you’re with him you gotta actively show/tell him
if you’re at the store pick him up some gummies
if you know he’s got a long day ahead of him maybe pack him some snacks to take with him in the morning
if his hair looks nice tell him
send him messages throughout the day even if he can’t respond immediately
he claims he’s a man of the present but whenever he takes a moment to reminisce the past he’ll look back and know just how much you care about him
yoongi:
quality time/acts of service
listen as much as this man loves spending time alone the time he spends with others means a lot to him
like how he always go fishing with jin even tho he ain’t particularly fond of it
or how like in in the soop he had made plans to play games with jimin and did so extensively
also from in the soop when he had spent most of his day outside reading but then he had heard everyone starting to make the theme song and immediately ran to get his equipment to record and what not
not to mention his poem from the end of that one run episode where they went on like a mini trip or whatever and he was like “what a relief that we have seven members. what a relief that we have each other.”
like being all together is important to him
like i just think about that one scene from one of they movies ion remember which one but they were all gathered around the table and it was when he had told them how he actually hurt his shoulder and they was talking about how they was worried about jk and how he need to come out his room and it’s not even the content of the scene but just like the fact that he ain’t have to be there but he was
and also can’t neglect to mention how he whined for y e a r s about how ain’t nobody come to visit him on set when he was filming the videos for his first mixtape like mans wouldn’t let that go and then how touched he was when they made appearances on his daechwita set even if he couldn’t express it properly
and how he begged for them to make cameos in the video and how happy he was when jin and jk did
and he doesn’t ever forget to mention whenever him and hobi hang out he’s like yeah we went for a drink and dinner and talked and blah blah
he loves it when people make an effort to be around him
now acts of service i got this all on a whim okay like… listen… we all been there we have all watched an ideal type video on youtube don’t lie okay
and up there it be like he want someone to bring him food in the studio and take care of him and stuff like that and in this case the math maths
you really can see that in how he treats others
like just the other day i saw a gifset somewhere and the boys were like yeah yoongi always takes care of us he don’t make eye contact tho
not to mention how he always cooks for them when they go on trips
and even though he ain’t give seokjin his song yet we know it’s coming! eventually!
and whenever they be ganging up on jungkook yoongi always the first one to be like “stooooppp you gon make him cry”
my baby just always be doing little things for others to show he cares okay 🥺
so if you got with my baby you gotta take care of him 🥺🥺🥺
he really needs someone that understands him bc he not gonna say anything
if you’re all hanging out together make sure you’re by his side so he knows you want to be there with him
if he’s busy stuck in his studio drop by even if you just end up laying on the couch he’s gonna appreciate you just being with him
and bring food my baby getting buff he need all the veggies and protein he can get
hoseok:
receiving gifts
i really had to think about this one but once i connected the dots yeah it makes total sense
like he looooves shopping loves getting stuff so when other people give him stuff i know he just 🥰🥰🥰
hobi lights up when he gets gifts they don’t always have to be big but i know he very much appreciates them
like how in the army corner store festa video when asked to bring something meaningful to them he brought those figurines which was the first gift a fan gifted him
which makes me think about how those limited edition figurines dropped and hobi was like i need to get one for namjoon and then namjoon was like i need to get one for hobi and so they ended up with like two of them or something like that
also from festa in the little photo booth mission every time he won a prize he was like yaaasss omg and was thinking of ways to put it to use like when he got that picture frame he immediately stuck them film strips in it he probably got it hanging in his room or in his studio by now tbh
and i think it was on the canada run bts episode where jk bought him those slippers and he was super happy
even when they were in hawaii and him and jin were hungry on the bus and he asked jin for gummies like ofc jin had to get on his nerves first but when he finally gave him his snacks he went from 😐 to 😚
or how he still has that change purse that namjoon bought him in malta (probably still got the money in there too tbh)
speaking of malta got me thinking about how tae went out of his way to win hobi that flamingo bc he said he’d never seen one and when tae gave it to him he went parading it around telling everyone that tae won it for him and then said he was gonna put it in his studio
and he got that chicken leg pillow they gave him from you quiz on the couch in his studio
and i think it was from the 2020 winter package he was so happy when jin bought him those ugly little troll elf things with the hat you know what i’m talking about
and he commented like three times when jungkook drew that picture of him for his birthday
and we know mans be giving gifts too
like how he got yoongi that coffee truck on the set of daechwita
and when they were on the speak yourself tour and he went out shopping on a day off and bought jin a sweater or something
and how he slaved through like 2 or 3 lives making bracelets for the members and then gave it to them on the bang bang con live
and the most devastating one of all when they had to give each other gifts i think it was on the run episode with all the water games but i could be wrong anyway and like most of them gave each other gag gifts like their merch or whatever but hobi gave jimin (and the rest of the members) a cd for his song promise it had a little photo book in it and everything 😭😭😭
so like whoever gets with this fine specimen gon have to throw a few dollars together to make sure this man is kept
not really i’m sure he doesn’t expect you to sell your car for a gucci peacoat or your soul for a rolex
but if you did decide to save up for some time to get him a little extravagant gift i know he’d more than appreciate it
more often than not though it’d be the little things that got to him like if you bought a simple t shirt from the store but then kinda like upcycled it drew little doodles on it wrote “i’m your hope” somewhere on it there would definitely be a picture uploaded of him on weverse or twitter wearing it
or if you decided to compile the pictures of you two together into a scrapbook or something he’d keep it somewhere accessible like in a drawer in his desk in his studio and flip through it with a little smile on his face when he’s missing you
and even if it was something even smaller than that like say he mentioned in passing that like idk he was out of eggs or something and you bought him some he just might marry you
jimin:
physical affection/quality time
the first thing that comes to mind with this for jimin is how he comforts his boys
like there’s so many behind the scenes clips from tour where like jk or tae will be upset with their performance and crying and jimin would be the one to come up behind them and hug them and wipe their tears
same concept for that one moment in bon voyage 3 when they told him that tae was crying and he just kinda hugged him and wiped his tears and hovered around him to make sure he was okay
or when they left hobi at the gas station in bon voyage 4 and then went back to pick him up he still hugged hobi even as he was laughing evilly
also in bon voyage 4 when they went on that helicopter tour and they was on the mountain and him and tae tackled each other and was rolling in the snow
and he is just like always in jk arms like he just jumps on him for no reason like in that video where lee hyun is acting as one of bts’ management
also in the behind from i think when they were practicing for the 2019 bbmas i believe at some point jungkook was holding that man spinning him in circles or sumn like that
and there’s also that one comeback show when him and tae were in the comic book cafe and they were just cuddled up together looking at tae’s phone practicing english i think
and on that one joon live when him and tae crashed and just caused a whole lot of commotion i’m pretty sure at one point they were cuddled on the couch and then jimin told tae his breath stinks and tae proceeded to open his mouth over the air purifier
anyway clearly he is a man with hands
but he also is someone who loves to spend time together it’s important to him
like i just think about how when they had their “break” back in 2019 he talked about how he just traveled the entire time and he went with various friends and family
and i’m pretty sure it was bon voyage 3 when they were doing their friendship trips and trying to make fresh pairings or whatever he was like i don’t think there’s any surprising pairing with me and it’s like… that’s true
like you got minimoni, minimini, jikook etc… all tried tested and true man gets around his band
and he’s the main one who’s always like “yeah bro we should live in the dorms until we’re 50”
and he always talks about how he can’t be alone and how he’s always gotta be doing something with someone
and his lives!!! his lives!!!! when he spends time with us it’s always so intimate and personable
like you can’t tell me that i ain’t have dinner with him and jin after a show in the hotel room and we drank off camera even after the staff told us we couldn’t 😤🤚
there’s also that time he went live and someone said they had some kind of condition and then he took it upon himself to look it up and try to find treatments
just liiiike whenever he goes live every minute counts bro and yes this is me trying to summon him bc we ain’t had a solo jimin live since october and i know they super busy but i miss 😓😓😓
so for this mans i just feel like you just gotta really be with him
just like he makes every second count you have to as well
like he’s gonna want to have your full attention and you’ll definitely have his he’ll be obsessed with you tbh
however he doesn’t always have the time and his schedule definitely isn’t the most accommodating so he’s gonna want someone to put in the effort
but as long as you make sure he knows you’re all in he’ll always meet you halfway
taehyung:
words of affirmation
now this one has been stated explicitly multiple times and he’s admitted it himself
specifically during let’s bts in their segment within the segment and namjoon was like taehyung the kind of person who grows from compliments
and i ain’t even got the right words to express how i feel about the smile he couldn’t help when hobi had them all tell tae that they like him
not to mention the story he told during the festa video last year about how he always tried his very best to get hobi to praise him and how disappointed he was when hobi didn’t get it
and i may be tripping but didn’t like earlier this year he didn’t post on weverse or twitter for like a month or so because he wanted to keep seeing us say how much we miss him???
and in bon voyage season 2 when they had to write letters to each other and he wrote his to jimin and then cried when he read it
there’s also a moment in bon voyage 4 when he and rm were about to sleep in the same space and he asked joon if he could cuddle him and joon was like 🥴🤚 how bout no and tae was like you do like me right? and rm was like yeah of course but let’s not cuddle bro
also in that weverse magazine interview they did he talked about how depressed he got when they weren’t able to perform and he only felt happy for a while when he was able to communicate with us
and in turn he’s very verbally supportive as well
like at that one fan sign they was talking about bon voyage and they asked army which season they liked better 1 or 2 and someone said 1 and taehyung was like “😐 now why would you say that bc namjoon won’t even in that” even though really it was only like 1 or 2 episodes he missed out on
and like he’s always hyping seokjin up like when they were doing the map of the soul 7 comeback live and jin was talking about how he wasn’t a good dancer and taehyung was like 😡 don’t say that bc it’s not true you’re good and you always been good
and in the let’s bts thing again it was important for him to let jimin know that he likes him best like they really are best friends y’all 😭
and when he talks about how much he loves suga’s raps
and that moment in the soop when he set up a date for him and jungkook to talk out whatever tension they had or whatever
and how during those individual be interviews he had hobi flustered when he complimented his passion for music
and he always be saying like the most comforting stuff on weverse letting army know he’s there as a source of comfort at all times even when he can’t be
like this man is literally the creator of borahae meaning that we’ll love and support each other for a long time
so if you get with tae communication is key!!!
you gotta tell him how you feel about him
if you’re out and about and see something that reminds you of him? tell him. if you like his hair that day? tell him. if he does something that pisses you off? tell him. if you miss him? tell him. if you love him? tell him.
like y’all gon talk about everything and nothing at all some days you’ll be discussing aliens and parallel universes other days you’ll be like discussing the future of your relationship
and ya know he a busy man so you not always gon be having long and drawn out heart to hearts so i think he’d love it if you just sent messages throughout the day something that let him know you were thinking of him even if it’s just a picture of a possum you chased down or if you spammed him with tiktoks you thought he’d like
he’d be looking at his phone like 🥰🤳 thinking about how much he loves you
jungkook:
physical affection
now this lil menace right here is touchy
always down for a cuddle
like on the canada episode of run when they were about to pick out rooms and he was like firmly latched onto hobi on the couch while they waited
and when they were practicing home for the magic shop muster and yoongi sat in the arm chair and immediately jk sat in his lap and tae sat in his lap
or how in in the soop after they were done eating he just went and latched onto jin’s back
and how tae had went to go wake jk up that one time and they ended up falling asleep
or how jk had went to wake up jimin that one time and they ended up falling asleep
there was just a lot of jk cuddles going on in in the soop so i’ll move on
let’s talk about the pool water debate run episode where in the end jk decided to latch onto jin’s back yet again
i’ll take this moment to mention the jinkook moment that lives in my head rent free for no valid reason it’s from the life goes on countdown video where they were reading the post cards and he was wearing that big pink sweatshirt and jin was wearing that pink and black bomber jacket and jk just grabbed jin’s arm and held onto it and played with it and when he was done he just threw it away i… i think about that moment a lot there’s an entire section in both my head and heart dedicated to that moment anyway continuing on
i’ll talk about that time they were backstage for a show and they had them blow up mattresses and suga was minding his business resting and jk just rolled up and moved his legs and laid beside him and then hobi decided to pile on top
and whenever they’re on stage he’s always the most delighted when joon would suggest a hug he’d be the first one over there nose scrunched up giggling he loves it
there’s also many instances in interviews and lives where he just can’t keep him hands to himself
just like that last butter live when tae ended up with a crown of forks thanks to mr kook
and he never misses an opportunity to feel up joon
which makes me remember that time he kissed namjoon on the forehead
and he is just always carrying jimin for some reason
so in conclusion… physical affection
and if he was your mans you’d be on the frontlines of receiving all he has to give
not necessarily in public or around a lot of people but in a space where you both were comfortable yes
you’d just have to accept that when you’re standing around he’s going to give you a shoulder/neck/back massage for no particular reason
and he will latch onto you in different positions for extended periods of time
and you gotta do the same! like that’s your man! go give him a hug! a kiss! let him know you love him
cuddle up to him while y’all chilling watching tv
hold his hand while y’all talking
just like grab onto him and never let him go
he’ll be hoping you don’t

bts headcanon - dating seokjin includes
remember that one bighit caption 'the boyfriend you'll never have'
i felt that to my core
he's absolutely boyfriend goals
THE MOST CARING BOYFRIEND, I KNOW YOU SEE IT TOO
romantic, charming, the good type of protective, generous, kind, patient, loyal
loves to say 'i love you' over and over
he worships the ground you walk on a little bit
so eager to help on anything you need
likes taking you to fancy dinners
or cooking with you at home
just eating in general
'barefaced with glasses jin' galore
you stare at him often and he says he loves it, but he gets flustered easily
if he knows anything that will make you laugh, he'll do it often
playing board games, uno, checkers, you name it
cuddling with you on the couch while watching dramas
or just holding hands, your head on his shoulder
he's not really a pda guy
but kisses your hand gently, or rubs his thumb against your knuckles
kisses on the cheek and forehead when there's people around are rare
kissing you on the lips is his favorite thing
he takes his sweet time
caressing your cheeks, your neck
so slow and so intense
hugging you tightly at all times
his kisses are very gentle and sweet
mostly 👀
now, we know he's a kinky man
from his chocking and handcuff comments alone, stop denying it
loves a blindfold moment
any kind of sensory depravation moment
any games involving taking off his clothes
foodplay! hellooo!?!!
some strawberries, sweet condensed milk, some chocolate...
fucking you in the kitchen counter because he has good taste
don't underestimate his stamina
can go for hours
those pillowlike lips can do some damage
anywho 👀
aftercare king!
breakfast in bed
likes to cuddle there
maybe some music playing
seokjin for the win, that's all

summer nights | ksj
pairing: idol!seokjin x reader
warnings: sickeningly sweet fluff
word count: 1.0k
note: this may become a series, or not! was inspired by my own desire to take a vacation and user jin's SHIRTLESS ig post..... lord have mercy, i had to channel the energy somewhere
—
The first official day of the summer, the longest day of the year, you brought me to Jeju-do with two hours' notice.
You've always been like that. Spontaneous, acting on every whim, doing what you feel like doing and nothing else, others' opinions be damned. You bought the plane tickets without telling me, made phone calls and arranged two first-class seats. As if we needed first-class accommodations for an hour-long flight. I reminded you that I grew up flying coach, the few times I flew anywhere at all, and you just laughed at me. Amused, as always, but with the same affection illuminating your wide eyes. Silly, you remarked, you forget you're flying with the worldwide sensation Kim Seokjin. Trust me, we're going to need first class.
We finished packing our bags too early, the driver wouldn't be by to pick us up for another hour, well then, what now? We wandered out to your veranda to sit in the sun. Our veranda. I'd moved in months ago, but it still felt a little foreign to me; I had to fit into your routines. Mugs going into the cabinet by the fridge instead of the one over the sink, the shower running hot in two seconds instead of two minutes. Turning right to get home from the main thoroughfare instead of left. Unfamiliar luxuries like housekeeping services and a breathtaking view of Seoul's glittering skyline. I sat on your lap for that entire hour, ignoring the sticky layer of sweat between us, as we talked about everything and nothing. Your video games, my new clients at work, should we redo the guest bathroom?
This was the first summer that stretched ahead of us like a blank canvas. The first summer that the relentless schedules didn't demand both your time and my patience. We delighted in the freedom; we basked in it. Knowing you didn't have to wake up at 4 AM the next day or fly to America the next week comforted me. It felt like a reward. I'd waited so long for this, for this one uninterrupted hour on your veranda. One uninterrupted month. You worked here and there, still, whenever you felt the urge to scrawl lyrics or couldn't get a melody out of your head. But for these thirty precious days, your time remained reserved for you. For me.
We climbed into the SUV, arrived at a private entrance and lounge. Laughed about how the only drinks they had in the fridge were banana milk and iced coffee. Hey, have you heard from Jeongguk lately? He's always so busy; I hope his collaboration release goes well. We boarded the plane soon after and watched a bad romantic comedy together. I wanted to see a horror movie, but we played rock paper scissors and you won. I didn't mind, though, because I got to feel you shake with silent laughter as I leaned against your shoulder, feel your lips press against my hair when the movie ended with an epic kiss.
We didn't even stop at the hotel; we went straight to the shore. We arrived just in time for the sunset. I ran out of the car before you even got a chance to put it in park—you yelled at me, could I please for the love of God be more careful? Did I want to give you a heart attack? I couldn’t help it, my worn-out sneakers crashing against the pebbly sand. The sky shone in brilliant streaks of tangerine, lavender, cerulean, indigo, peach. I was afraid we would miss it, the last of the daylight. The longest day of the summer.
I turned around to call you over, to tell you to hurry before the sun disappeared completely. But you were already right there, right behind me, on one knee with a ring in your hand. On the uneven shore, the knee of your jeans getting caked with damp sand and your newly darkened hair whipping in the unforgiving wind, you asked me to marry you.
Stupid, I shouted, fighting to be heard over the wind and crash of waves against the shore, you’re so stupid. But I meant none of it. We had already agreed to marry long ago, but you insisted that the proposal had to be a surprise. You’d been carrying the ring in your pocket every day for a year, waiting for the right moment. And today, you confessed, had seemed like the right time. Here, on this trip you had planned at the very last moment, on this island with the salty, humid air, the green tea and citrus farms.
Stupid, I said again, but through my tears. You stood up and used your thumbs to wipe them away while you held my face, your eyes growing wide and soft. I love this side of you. I love you when childlike amusement plays on your upturned lips, love you when your eyes pool with anguished tears, love you when your brows furrow with frustration. I love you when your voice is piercing and indignant, when it grows quiet and thoughtful, when it squeaks with unrestrained laughter. But I loved you most like this, when your lips parted slightly and you looked at me like I was the only person in the world. I love that those eyes, those lips, no matter what they look like, are mine.
You laugh at me now. You love to remind me that I forgot to say yes. I love to tease you back, to remind you that you forgot to wait until I said yes before slipping the ring on my finger. All I really remember now is holding my hand up to the rapidly fading light, admiring the way the diamond sparkled, but thinking that no object could come even close to you. My radiant angel, my boundless and perpetual paradise, my sweet Seokjin.
You kissed me as the sun vanished. I guess it was technically still the daytime, but for me, this was the first night of the summer.

Epiphany Demo
Seokjin figures out how to write “Epiphany.”
*Seokjin’s POV*
“Seokjinie… you look so exhausted… please just go home and get some rest!!” Mun said to me after the third time I had nearly dozed off while sitting at the counter of her bakery. It had only been a couple of days since we returned from the world tour, and I admit, I was struggling with the jetlag… not to mention the pressure I had been feeling from trying to write my solo song by myself. “I’m fine, honestly. I haven’t seen you for months,” I reminded her, hoping she would let me stay there with her, but knowing she probably wouldn’t let me.
“Are you so tired from the jetlag or from trying to work on your song for the next album?” she asked as I rested my chin on my forearms in front of me. “Both, I think… I still have no idea on what an ‘epiphany’ is,” he said. “Oh, is that the theme of the song?” Mun asked, to which I nodded. “It’s the title of the song,” I replied. A couple weeks ago, Bang PD suggested I try and write my own lyrics and tune to the backtrack they had made for my solo song “Epiphany.”
“I mean, an epiphany is just like… like a realization of something,” Mun explained. “Like… when I walk by a restaurant and smell the food they’re cooking, I suddenly realize how hungry I am?” I asked with a laugh as I sat up. Mun laughed too and said, “ok, but forreal, if you write a song about how your epiphany is realizing you’re hungry I will love you forever.” She said it in a joking way, but I couldn’t help but wonder if she was serious. We joked this way a lot, but we’re seriously just friends.
I yawned again as I sat up all the way, and Mun was quick to change the subject. “Go home, Kim Seokjinie! Didn’t you say you’re going to your parents’ house for a welcome home gathering tonight? You won’t be able to stay awake for that unless you go home and take a nap!” she said. “Aishhh, you’re right, you’re right…” I said, getting up from my seat and stretching. “I’ll see you soon though, right?” I asked, looking down at her. She smiled up at me and nodded. “Of course!” she said, blushing smally before turning to keep working. “Bye, then!!” we said to each other before I left the bakery.
As I rode my bike home… I couldn’t help but wonder why I couldn’t get Mun off my mind. Of course, my thoughts went to her almost constantly while we were on our Wings tour, but I just assumed it was because I hadn’t seen her for so long. Now that I have been with her again, she’s been on my mind even more. Really, I don’t know how I made it through so many months without her. I guess her friendship just means that much to me. Friendship…
I followed Mun’s instructions and took a nice, long nap as soon as I got home… forgetting to set an alarm. Thankfully I woke up in time to take a quick shower before leaving to go to my parents’ house for the evening. I looked down at my phone as I rode the bus, wondering if I should’ve invited Mun tonight, but figuring Eomma would’ve just wanted it as a family night. I scrolled through some of the photos from the tour, seeing several photos of Mun that she had sent me and I had saved. I couldn’t help but smile as I saw them.
The bus arrived at my stop, and I got off to walk the rest of the way to my parents’ house, just a few blocks away. Sure, the tour was an amazing experience… but walking down the streets and neighborhoods of Seoul was impossible to beat. It was good to be home. I rang the doorbell as I approached the house and was immediately pulled into a hug by Seokjung-hyung. “Welcome home, Jinie!!” he said before I could even step in the door. “Yahhh, my hyung!” I said, hugging him back.
He led the way into the house, and the next person I saw was my father, who got up from his seat on the couch. “Welcome back, son,” he said, hugging me as well. “Thank you, Appa, it’s good to be back,” I said. I looked around, and I knew he could tell I was looking for Eomma. “She’s in the kitchen with the girls,” Appa answered my questioning look. I smiled and bowed to him before heading over to the kitchen. *Girls?* I asked myself, though my question was answered as soon as I entered the kitchen to see Eomma, Ahreum, and Mun. “Mun-ah?” I said, surprised.
“We’re here too, Jinie,” Eomma teased, coming over and kissing me on the cheek before hugging me. I laughed nervously and said, “hi, Eomma,” as she hugged me. “I just wasn’t expecting you to be here tonight,” I said towards Mun. “Why wouldn’t she be? She’s been hanging out with us for the past 10 months, you think we would stop inviting her now that you’re back?” Ahreum said, teasingly. I chuckled and bowed to her. “It’s good to see you too,” I said.
“Well now that you’re here, would you mind grabbing the sugar off the shelf for me?” Mun asked as she was apparently making dessert. I nodded and reached up to the tall shelf and placed it on the counter in front of her. “It looks like you have plenty of help tonight,” I said to Eomma, as I normally helped her in the kitchen. She nodded. “This is your welcome home party! I expect you to relax!! Go hang out with the boys, we’ve got it covered,” she said, shooing me out of the kitchen.
I followed directions and joined Appa and Seokjung-hyung in the living room, talking with them and catching up on the past several months of not seeing each other. When the meal was ready, we all gathered around the table, with Mun sitting next to me. “Yahhhh, this looks incredible. This is easily what I missed the most from being home,” I said, looking at the table full of my favorite foods, prepared by some of the most important people to me. “Let’s dig in!” Eomma said.
We ate our fill of food, followed by Mun’s dessert and coffee. All the while, I didn’t realize how much I had missed nights with my family. After spending hours with them, it was getting late. “I missed all of this so much… I’m so glad I’m home,” I said as I took my jacket off the coat rack in preparation to leave. “We’ll have many more get-togethers while you’re home,” Appa said. “I’m sure your work will sweep you away for more tours in the future, but we’re glad you’re here for now,” Eomma chimed in.
“Thank you so much for the meal,” I said, bowing to them gratefully, and Mun did the same before we headed out the door into the winter night. It was assumed that I would take Mun home, so we walked together to the bus stop. As we walked, a cool gust of wind blew and caused Mun to walk closer to me, interlocking her arm into mine. It reminded me of the very first time I brought her to meet my parents… I guess right about a year ago now.
“Woah, I’m getting déjà vu!” Mun said with a chuckle as she continued holding onto my arm. “This is the same way we walked after I met your family for the first time,” she said, causing me to smile. “I was just thinking the same thing,” I said, glad she was the one that said it out loud.
“Remember how nervous you were when you met them for the first time though?” I asked her with a laugh as we approached the bus stop. She smiled embarrassedly and shook her head. “I knowwww, I was just so intimidated, but now I feel so close to your family!” she replied. “Honestly, why do I feel like they like you more than they like me now?” I replied, incredulously as the bus approached.
“I guess since I’ve actually been around the past 10 months,” she said, in a bit of a sassy tone… as if she were upset that I had been gone the past 10 months. She got on the bus and found a window seat, and I sat down in the empty seat next to her. “We both know how important it was that I went on the tour,” I said to her, quietly. She sighed and nodded. “I know… and I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make it sound like I was upset… but I really did miss you so much,” she said, somewhat sadly.
I looked over at her and noticed her wipe her eyes then looked out the window away from me. I smiled sadly and put my arm around her, pulling her close, as if wordlessly telling her, “I’m here now.” I felt her loosen at my touch and she leaned into me, resting her head on my collarbone. She didn’t say anything, and neither did I… we didn’t need to. We sat closely this way for the entire bus ride, and as we approached Mun’s apartment complex, she sat up straight and looked out the window.
“I guess this is my stop…” she said as she stood up, making me miss her in my arms already. “I’ll text you,” I said as she climbed over me to get off the bus. She smiled at me and nodded. “You better,” she said with a smirk before getting off the bus. I moved to the window seat and looked out, watching her as she walked to the building entrance. She turned back and waved at me with both hands right as the bus pulled out of the stop.
I waved back with both of my hands and smiled at her until she was completely out of sight. As I did so, I had… an epiphany… “I’m in love with her,” I said quietly to myself, wondering why I hadn’t realized it before. Or… maybe I did realize it before but didn’t dare to admit it? It was so hard being away from her for all those months, but I didn’t realize how hard it was until now. Since I’ve been with Mun again, I knew I couldn’t bear to live without her. “Aishhh,” I said to myself, not even sure what to do about this epiphany.
“Epiphany…” I said aloud, as the word had popped up a couple of times in my head. *My epiphany is… that I’m in love with Mun. That I need her to be by my side. That I’m always thinking about her…* I thought to myself, hoping I could write it all down before I forgot. I was almost home, though. I looked out the window and saw that I was still two stops away from reaching the dorm, so I pulled out my phone and began typing some notes.
Once I got back to the dorm, I went into the building and up to the dorm. “Yahh Jin-hyung!! How was the meal with your family?” Hobi asked from his spot on the couch as soon as I had walked in. “It was nice,” I said in passing, as I had to get to my room and get the rest of my ideas down. If “Epiphany” was going to be a song for Mun, I figured I should try and write it in her native language… even though I didn’t know English well.
I sat down at my desk almost immediately and opened up my computer. I’m not sure if it was the jet lag or the adrenaline of my epiphany, but I began to write down some lyrics, with the help of Google translate, even though it was way past my normal bedtime. I continued working on the song throughout the week, trying my best to keep my epiphany from Mun… both my feelings and the song. If I was ever going to confess to her, I would have to gain the confidence to do so, and I hoped this song would help with that.
After a week or so of writing, recording, and editing the best I could, I took Bang PD’s advice and had a more experienced songwriter give it a listen. “Well?” I asked Namjoon after he finished listening to my “Epiphany Demo.” He sat for a moment, then gave it another listen before answering. “It’s definitely not bad for being your first song ever written… but there’s a lot I would change,” he said. “Like what?” I asked, feeling my heart sink a bit, as I was quite proud of what I came up with.
“Well, first of all, the English doesn’t make much sense. It rhymes and flows fine, but the sentences aren’t really complete,” he explained. “Why did you make an all-English song, anyways?” he then asked. I blushed at the question but felt like I should be honest with Namjoon. “I… wrote it for Mun,” I said. He looked at me with raised eyebrows. “Mun? Is this a confession song?” he asked. “Maybe? The ‘epiphany’ is me realizing that I’ve been in love with Mun this whole time. I tried to convey my feelings the best I could and thought it would be nice if it were in her native language,” I replied.
“Hyung… that’s so incredibly sweet,” he said to me, causing me to blush further. “But I’m not sure if Bang PD will produce it or not… He asked me to listen to the version that he and Slow Rabbit wrote, and it’s a lot more refined than this one is,” he said, truthfully. I tried to smile and nodded, doing my best to hide my disappointment. Whatever confidence I thought I had to confess to Mun was gone now. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to tell her how I really feel. I can’t even put those words together into a song.
“Thank you for giving it a listen,” I said, bowing at him. “Don’t you dare delete it… I know Mun would love it if you let her listen to it, even if it’s not the version that ends up being produced,” he said. I nodded. All I wanted was to delete it, as I was embarrassed that I thought it was good enough to be produced. I ended up following his advice though, as I had worked so hard on it… and the thought of my epiphany became more important the more I thought about Mun.

Cherry Blossoms ~ Kim Seokjin
Your smile was wide as soon as you caught your first sight of cherry blossom, picking up your pace and pulling Jin along behind you. A laugh came from him as he found himself having to run to keep up with you, stunned by your sudden burst of speed towards the park.
His eyes were drawn straight away to your smile rather than anything else going on around him, watching your empty hand lift up, catching one of the falling petals.
“Don’t you think it’s just beautiful?” You asked Jin, holding your hand out to show him what you had caught, “they’re so simple yet just breath-taking too.”
“I know something else pretty breath-taking,” he replied with a smug smile.
Your eyes immediately rolled as you figured out exactly who he was talking about, trying your best to step back away from Jin, only for both of his arms to wrap around your waist to pull you back.
Your head shook as you met his eyes, noticing the smirk that was on his face. “I brought you down here to enjoy the cherry blossoms, not so that you could be cheesy.”
His head nodded back at you, having to bite his tongue to stop himself from charming you yet again. He was like it around you at the best of times, but there was something about where the two of you were too that encouraged Jin to charm you even more.
“You are much prettier than then cherry blossoms,” Jin tried his best to tell you.
Your hand hit against his chest, head still shaking as you refused to listen to him. Nothing could top the cherry blossoms, even after seeing them with Jin for so many years, it still excited you every year when they finally came out of bloom.
“You’re supposed to tell me that I’m prettier than the cherry blossoms too,” Jin pointed out to you when you remained silent, watching the smirk begin to form on your face too.
“I was brought up being told not to lie,” you teased on response to Jin.
His eyes widened as Jin pulled you further into his chest, beginning to tickle gently against your waist in the hope of wearing you down to say what he wanted to hear.
“Are you really saying that a few blossoms look better than I do?”
“I told you, I’m not supposed to lie.”
A dramatic gasp came from Jin as he dug his hands into your sides a little bit harder, finally bringing a laugh out of you. Your hands immediately started to hit against him, pushing him away from you to try and run away from him.
Jin’s grip against you was far too strong though, “are the cherry blossoms still nicer than I am.”
“Maybe you can be equals.”
He stopped tickling you for a moment and pulled you back so that you were resting against his chest, looking at you with sceptical eyes, seeing you still smirking.
“You and the cherry blossoms can share the top spot.”
“I can’t believe you’re comparing me to a cherry blossom,” Jin scoffed, knowing that he wasn’t going to win. “I was even nice to you and said you were the prettiest.”
Your head nodded in agreement with him, “there’s a lot worse flowers that I could have compared you to if you really wanted me to be honest.”
Jin’s hand came up and covered your mouth to stop you from speaking any more, dreading to think what else you’d try and tell him that he was like. Once he was sure you were going to be quiet, he brought his hand down and held onto yours.
“Shall we take a walk?” He suggested, looking ahead down the long path of the park that was surrounded by cherry blossom trees for the two of you to explore.
“Come on,” you grinned, yanking his arm as you started walking.
Once again Jin found himself having to jog to catch back up with you, matching your enthusiasm. There was a spring in your step as you walked, eyes looking in all sorts of directions as you tried your best to take it all in and make the most of your adventure.
“What is it about the cherry blossoms that turn you into a giant kid?” Jin asked you, hearing you giggle as soon as you noticed a petal landing in the ends of your hair.
“They’re just so lovely, like a scene from a movie.”
When you first moved to Korea to be with Jin, the cherry blossoms were one of the things that you looked forward to the most. You still remembered the first time that you saw them like it was yesterday, remembering how they made your heart flutter and how overwhelmed you were by how beautiful everything looked.
“Will you hit me if I say something sweet again?”
“If you’re going to be cheesy, I’ll beat you up.”
Jin chose to remain silent, keeping his charming comments to himself. He could hear you chuckling to yourself, a small part of you wanting to hear what cheesy remark Jin was going to make, but ultimately deciding not to give him the satisfaction and keep him silent, having to walk around whilst biting his tongue.
After a few moments, Jin spoke up again, finding something else to talk about. “Keep walking,” he told you as he let go of your hand, stopping and letting you carry on.
“What are you doing?” You asked him, looking back to see him taking his phone out of his back pocket, encouraging you to keep walking with his hand.
You turned back around and did as Jin said, glancing past your shoulder instead. “I want to take a picture of you walking amongst all the falling cherry blossoms.
“I’ll have to keep walking for ages,” you laughed, only to see Jin kneeling down so that he could make sure that he got your full height in the photo that he was after.
“Don’t worry, I’m a pro at taking photos,” he yelled out to you, waiting for a few moments before snapping his shot. Once he was done, he picked up into a jog once again to be able to catch back up with you still walking.
You leant across as Jin opened up the photo that he had taken, surprised by just how good it turned out. As soon as he saw it, Jin knew that it was the long, saving the photo and uploading it so that he had a new lock screen saved on his phone.
“For real?” You asked Jin, not expecting him to use the photo that he had taken for anything, especially for his lock screen too.
It was the perfect photo for him though, although he knew it was you, if anyone managed to get a hold of his phone there was no proof that it definitely was you.
After a few moments, his head nodded back at you. “You’re in your element in this photo, and the cherry blossoms like beautiful too. This will definitely be the perfect photo for me to have during the spring.”
“I should take one of you too,” you grinned, nudging Jin to walk ahead of you. “Cherry blossoms and couple photos, let’s go completely cliché.”
“You’re rubbish at taking photos,” Jin teased as he began to walk ahead of you, “you’re going to cut my feet or the top of my head off.”
Your head shook back at Jin, “you should have more faith in me, I promise that the photo will be perfect, mainly because of the cherry blossoms.”
“You and these bloody cherry blossoms.”

pairing: jin x reader word count: 5.4k genre: friends to lovers (can you tell what my favourite trope is? my bad) summary: In which her mom knits her and Jin matching couples' Christmas sweaters, which comes with only one problem - they're not a couple. warning/tags: slight angst, meddling mothers, kissing A/N: Ahh! Finally! Here's my first fic for my Winter Wonderland fic event. Thank you so much to everyone who participated/who is still participating - check out the Masterlist here for all the wonderful fics that have been written!
Christmas is most definitely her favourite time of year.
The lights, the decorations, the snow — the way that the world seems just a little bit softer around the edges. Everytime she steps outside, even in the freezing cold, she feels just that much lighter. Not to mention that decorating her apartment every year sparks an immense amount of joy — and she has to admit that she’s extra pleased with the work she’s done on her place this year.
“It looks great, sweetie!”
Her mom’s voice sounds through the phone as Y/N finishes the tour of her apartment in all of its newly decked out glory — the silver garland hung by the door and in front of the TV on its stand; the twinkling lights and fake snow set up on the windowsills; her favourite red throw blanket and snowman pillows on the couch. Of course, she ends with the grand finale – her Christmas tree.
She sets her mom up on the coffee table before she moves to grab the box that she’d set on the kitchen table after work — the one that she’s surprised made it through the mail in one piece, considering the state of it. She places it between her legs on the floor as she sits down on the couch.
“Thanks, mom,” Y/N replies. “I’m pretty proud of my decorating this year.” She pauses, glancing down at the heavily-taped box before looking back at her phone screen. “Okay, are you sure I can open this now? It feels blasphemous to open it before Christmas. It’s not even mid-December yet!”
“Since when have you ever hesitated to have Christmas a little early?” Her mother teases. “What is it that you always say about December 1st?”
“That December 1st is also Christmas 1st,” Y/N replies automatically, and her mom laughs.
“Exactly. I promise, you want to open this one now — I’ve sent another box with your actual presents, don’t you worry.”
“There’s more?” Every year since she moved away, she’s gotten a Christmas box in the mail from back home, but never two. “You spoil me.”
“Open it!”
“Fine,” Y/N concedes with a teasing eye roll, “but remember that I was the patient one this time.”
She does as told, opening the box carefully, and gasps as she moves the tissue paper aside. Underneath it she finds two neatly folded, hand-knit Christmas sweaters, intricately woven threads in patterns of greens, reds and whites.
“Mom!” she exclaims, eyes wide. “Did you make these?”
Her mom nods excitedly, looking terribly pleased with her daughter’s reaction. “Yes! I’ve been taking classes with the ladies.”
“Wow,” Y/N murmurs, holding up each sweater in turn to look at them in detail, admiring her mom’s handiwork. “You've always been good at crafting, but you’ve outdone yourself this time.” She stops talking again, completely in awe.
“I’m so glad you like them.”
“I love them,” Y/N corrects, continuing to run her fingers over the material, before she suddenly realizes something. “You didn’t have to make two, though. I do, in fact, possess a washing machine.”
Her mom tsks. “Don’t be silly,” she chastises. “The other one is for Jin.”
Y/N looks up abruptly at that. She’s sure that the surprise on her face can be seen from miles away, as she blinks back at her mom through the screen.
Jin?
Seokjin?
The Jin she’s known for a couple of years now? Her friend, Jin? The one that is always up for a last minute coffee run or a spontaneous trip, the one who comes over almost once a week for movie nights, the one who loves Christmas as much as she does? The one with the soft brown hair that falls perfectly across his forehead right before he gets it cut, the one with the dark, teasing eyes that haunt her every waking moment, the one whose smile she’s certain every romance novel has been written about?
The one that she’d been sure nobody, even her own mother, knew she had a crush on?
That Jin?
“Huh?” She finally manages to blurt out. “Jin?” She can’t help the way her heart has begun to race at the thought of him, and she hates it.
Her mom gives her an exasperated, knowing look, her eyebrows raised. “Yes, Jin. The boy you’re dating?”
Y/N is frozen — save for her heart that's now not just racing, but absolutely pounding at the insinuation of her and Jin being in a relationship — and it takes her another moment to react. “What? Mom, no. I–”
At the sound of her doorbell ringing, she jumps, even though she knows exactly who it is on the other side – which makes her current situation even worse. What convenient timing.
“Who’s that?”
“I think you already know, Mom.”
Y/N shoves the offending sweaters back into the box, before hastily placing the package behind the armchair and out of sight. The panic in her continues to rise as she tries to calm herself down before he sees her — as though Jin will be able to read her mind and know what has her so flustered. She doesn’t even want to risk it.
“I won’t say a word,” her mom promises with a suggestive wink through the screen. “But you’d better give him his sweater. I worked hard on that!”
Y/N can hear the doorknob jiggling as Jin uses the key she’d given him to let himself into her apartment, and her panic rises even further. All she can do now is pray that Jin doesn’t notice how red she’s become, because there’s no way she can erase the red from her cheeks before he gets inside.
“I’ll give it to him later,” she hisses. “But Mom, why–”
“Honey, I’m home!”
Jin’s voice rings out as he finally opens the door, stepping inside and closing it behind him with a soft click. Her eyes are immediately drawn to him, and she’s lost for a moment at the sight of him so casually in her doorway — as if it’s his home, too. She wishes it was.
As always, when she sees him, it takes her brain a moment to catch up. Thankfully, he never seems to notice. He shoots her a grin as he holds up a bag from their favourite bakery in his hands, somehow completely oblivious to her current inner turmoil.
“I’ve secured the goods.”
She manages to tear herself away after shooting him a thumbs up before she turns back to her phone, praying to the heavens that she can make a quick getaway before her mom says anything else.
“Mom, I’m going to go–”
“Wait. Your mom’s on the phone?”
She hears a soft thud as Jin drops the pastry bag. Within seconds, he’s by her side on the couch, and she can feel every part of him pressed against her. It’s a normal occurrence to be this close when they hang out at her apartment – her couch is small – but she hadn’t even had a second to prepare for it this time.
Her mom is wrong – they are absolutely not dating.
She definitely does have a huge, massive, unrequited crush on him, though.
He grins and waves at her mom through the screen, and she’s done for.
Yep. Massive crush.
“Jin, hi!”
Y/N watches as Jin converses easily with her mom. The older woman is easily charmed, which is especially understandable when it comes to Jin, and Y/N is sure that the two of them could talk for hours if she let them. She tries to send pointed looks to her mom through the phone, and the hint is finally taken as her mom makes up an excuse about going to knit a sweater — which is paired with a completely unsubtle, exaggerated wink. When they finally hang up, Jin is beaming.
“I love your mom.”
She’s a little bit speechless for a moment as she’s finally able to take in the sight of him up close, his nose still red and his cheeks still a little flushed from the cold. His hair is a bit tousled from the wind, causing it to fall in those soft waves across his forehead that she loves so much. He still has his jacket and shoes on from his rush to say hi to her mother, and when he stands back up to take them off and leaves her alone on the couch, she’s finally able to breathe a little.
“I’ll clean up the snow I dragged in onto the floor,” he offers sheepishly. “Sorry, I was just excited to say hi to her.”
She ignores the fluttering in her chest that comes immediately at his words. She hastily tries to push back the thoughts that come — thoughts of taking him home to meet her family in person, thoughts of him with her younger cousins, with her parents. She just knows that he would fit in perfectly with her chaotic family circle, and her sanity can’t afford to think about it any longer.
“Your place looks great, by the way,” he says, interrupting her daydream, and she realizes that she's barely said two words to him since he arrived.
“Thanks, Jinnie.”
He smiles over at her from his spot by the door as he hangs up his coat on the coat rack, leaning down to place his shoes neatly on the mat before grabbing the bakery bag from where he’d dropped it on the floor.
“I can’t believe I put these babies on the floor,” he pouts, lifting the bag to hold it against his heart. “I’m sorry, my sweet, sweet pastries.”
She snorts at that. “Don’t worry about it — the pastries will forgive you.”
Jin sets the bag down on the coffee table before he disappears into the kitchen to grab paper towel to clean up his mess.
“I’m sure your rush to the phone made my mom’s day,” she adds, calling out to him. “She loves you.”
“As previously stated, the feeling’s mutual.”
He winks as he appears in the living room again, and she scrunches up her nose, turning away under the guise of putting on Netflix. In truth, she’s been finding it terribly difficult to be around him this Christmas season — and not for any fault of his own. He’s a great friend, a great person — of course she’s fallen in love with him a little bit. What is there not to love? It’s just that being around him, especially at Christmas, hurts a lot more now that she’s finally accepted her feelings for him. She knows she can’t just cancel their holiday plans — including the ones that involve him curled up and cosy on her couch — and even if she could, she doesn’t want to.
She’s certain that not being around him would hurt far more than crushing on him in silence ever could.
He finds his spot next to her again, this time looking much too boyfriend in his black hoodie and jeans. As she presses play on the next episode of the show they’ve been binge watching, he’s too busy digging into his sweet treat and groaning dramatically with each bite to notice that she isn’t really watching the show. Her eyes keep wandering to where the sweater box is hidden behind the couch as she replays her mom’s words in her mind. She’s never told her mom about her feelings for Jin, so why had she assumed that they were dating? How had she known?
She can wear her own sweater for the next few weeks and give him his on Christmas, right? That would give her a couple of weeks to avoid any awkward conversations. Plus, her mom won’t know the difference… But then again, she knows she can only put off the conversation for so long — it’s inevitable, and it’s just a matter of when.
How is she supposed to explain to Jin why he’d gotten a gift from her mom for the first time in two years? Oh, yeah, she thinks we’re dating now.
Absolutely not.
She’s not ready.
She resolves that Christmas is still weeks away, and that she has time to figure it out.
*****
Turns out, she does not have time to figure it out.
As usual, Christmas comes around far too quickly for her liking, and not because she doesn’t like Christmas — but because she likes it too much. It doesn’t help either that this year, she’s somehow ended up with plans to spend the holiday with a certain Kim Seokjin.
“Are you going to be alone on Christmas Eve?”
They’re sitting at their favourite cafe when he asks it out of the blue, and it takes her a second to process his question.
“Obviously,” she teases, once she’s recovered. “You know my family is too far away for me to go see see them. Who else would I spend it with?”
He pauses for a beat, and then, “Me?”
She blinks. He smiles. Her eyebrows raise as she tries to maintain a steady facade despite the stark, rapid increase in her heart rate, and thankfully her stare has him caving quickly.
“I have to work during the day on Christmas Eve,” he elaborates, “ so I can’t go to the family cabin.”
“And naturally I’m your next choice?”
Her words come out sarcastic, but she’s suddenly worried that he’ll see through her and realize just how much his sudden proposal has affected her. To her surprise, his face is the one that softens, and she swears she sees a blush on his cheeks as his head dips down to stare at the table between them.
“Of course you are.”
What?
She blinks. “Oh.”
“If you are actually busy, that’s okay,” he says quickly after a moment, and she’s surprised at how fast his tone changes. “I get it, you probably have your own thing.”
His words are casual, but his voice sounds off. He’s still not looking at her, and she can’t make any sense of it. She’s confused - he was usually so happy-go-lucky with plans, and she hasn’t even given him an answer yet. But before she can even speak, he’s looking up at her again, and his usual smiling face is back. She frowns, not sure what to make of what’s just happened.
“I’m not,” she manages to stammer out. “Busy, I mean.”
His face cracks again – she’s not imagining it this time. She watches as something that looks like relief passes over his features before he relaxes back into his chair, his fingers wrapping around his coffee cup as he brings it to his lips.
“Okay, good.” He smiles over at her, and she nods. It’s her turn to look down now, to look away from where he’s gotten his confidence back as he adds, “Can’t wait.”

She doesn’t realize it until a few days before, but she’s working later than Jin on Christmas Eve. She calls him to apologize profusely – she’s the host, how can she not make dinner – and she’s in the middle of a breakdown about not being home in time to cook for them when he offers.
“I just assumed I would be cooking, anyway,” he says teasingly through the phone, “since you can’t even boil pasta.”
She protests – it was one time - but she knows that deep down she’s not really disappointed by his suggestion. She’s excited, actually. She feels bad that she won’t be able to help him, but she also knows how much he loves to cook – and how much he likes to surprise the people he loves, though she tries not to think too much about where she fits into that category.
When she finally makes it home on the 24th, she’s exhausted and cold, but her heart warms instantly when she steps inside her apartment. There’s music playing – a soft, instrumental version of Silver Bells – and her decorations are lit up, causing her otherwise dark living room to be cast in a soft glow. She can hear humming and can smell something divine from the direction of her kitchen, and as she takes off her coat and scarf, she has to stop for a second to catch her breath before she allows herself to see what she knows awaits her in the next room. She isn’t sure she’ll be able to handle it.
She’s right.
Jin stands by the stove, her Santa apron hung loosely over his neck. Her eyes wander over the expanse of his back and she realizes that he’s wearing her favourite deep red dress shirt of his – the one that hugs his shoulders just so. Her eyes wander upwards to said shoulders, then up to where he’s styled his hair back off his forehead for the evening. The song changes, and when he moves to check the title on his phone, he catches her in the doorway. A smile spreads across his lips, so full and genuine, and all just at the sight of her.
“Hi!”
“Hi,” she manages.
“I’m almost done!” He turns back to the stove, and she can finally breathe a little without the weight of his gaze. “Go get changed. Everything will be ready in 20 minutes.”
When she wanders back into the living room donning her homemade Christmas sweater and her favourite pair of jeans, Jin is just setting down the last plate on her coffee table. She gasps a little when she sees the way he’s set everything up with her Christmas dishes, and she notices that he’s placed a small bouquet of poinsettias in the middle.
“Ta-da,” he says softly.
“Jin…”
“Do you like it?”
She doesn’t speak for a moment – she can’t – and he seems to take that as a bad sign as his hand lifts to rub at the back of his neck.
“I’m sorry if it’s too much or if it looks bad. I’ve never been good at the whole plating thing… I just know that you love Christmas a lot so I tried to make it, well, super Christmas-ey.”
She shakes her head, and she has to swallow the lump in her throat before she can say anything. “Jin,” she repeats, and she can feel his eyes on her as she takes everything in again. “This is…” She bites her lip, willing herself to meet his gaze. He looks nervous, and she hastens to soothe his worries. “This is amazing, Jin,” she says quietly, but the way his shoulders relax let her know that he heard her. “Wow.”
“Good,” is all he says in return, and she can hear the breath of air that he lets out in relief. “Let’s dig in.”
She’s grateful that the conversation is normal enough as they sit on the floor to eat. She still finds herself looking at him for a bit too long, giggling a little bit more than usual, and she’s terrified he’ll catch on to her nerves, too. It feels too much like a date, she realizes, and that’s not what this is. He just looks so soft under the glow of the Christmas tree, handsome in ways that she can’t even begin to explain, and she isn’t sure what she’s supposed to do about how in love with him she is.
“Thanks for hanging out with me on Christmas.” She says it without thinking as they finish eating, and Jin tilts his head to the side.
“Why are you thanking me?”
She blushes, looking down at the glass of wine in her hands. “I’m sure you probably had lots of other options, so thanks for thinking of me, I guess.”
“I mean, I’m always thinking about you.”
Her heart stops. She forces herself to swallow the sip of wine she’s just taken, avoiding his eyes completely. How is she supposed to respond? How can he be so casual?
“You know I want to be here, right?”
His words are soft as he says them, and she feels warmth shoot through her when his hand brushes her thigh. When she doesn’t move away, he begins to trace circles into the fabric of her jeans, and her eyes finally meet his again.
“There’s no one else I would rather be with,” he says after a moment, and she’s trying desperately to keep up. Her heart is racing as he searches her face, and she swears she’s never seen him look so serious. His fingers still their motions as they stare at one another, and she’s sure the breath is completely gone from her lungs.
Bzz. Bzz. Bzz.
An alarm sounds from the kitchen, but Jin doesn’t move, his gaze falling to her mouth as he murmurs, “Dessert.”
Huh?
It’s then that he stands up, and she falls back against the couch, her hand lifting up and settling over her chest.
What the hell was that?
When Jin comes back with a promise that their dessert would cool down soon, she’s already sitting up on the couch. Neither of them says anything for a moment.
“Should we open just one gift each?” Jin finally speaks. “Start our own Christmas Eve tradition?”
She blinks slowly, before she nods. “Sure, yeah. Let’s do that.”
“It’ll be fun,” Jin exclaims, and she wonders if she’s the only one who was affected by their moment just before. “What’s in this giant box?” He muses, glancing down over the side of the couch. “Let’s start with that.”
Oh, no.
“Oh, that’s just–”
“It says it’s from your hometown!” He pauses, inspecting the top of the box. “Wait, you already opened it? Can I see what it is?”
His eyes are wide as he smiles over at her excitedly, and she knows there’s no way she could ever deny him. Not when he’s looking at her like this. All she can do is nod again, speechless, and then he’s opening the box like a child on Christmas morning.
“This is – this one is from my mom,” she finally stumbles, and her entire rehearsed speech about the sweaters goes out the window. “It’s for us. Um, for me, but also for you.” Jin’s eyes widen even more, and she can’t help but stammer on before he can speak, gesturing at the sweater she’s wearing. “This one’s mine – she made one for both of us. I’m not sure why, but she seemed to think you would like one, so I guess she–”
“Holy shit.”
She’s interrupted by his curse, surprised at his choice of words, but all of that is quickly forgotten when she takes note of how he’s lit up like the lights on her tree – brighter, even. He looks so completely thrilled that her heart skips multiple beats, and she realizes, not for the first time, just how easy it is to love him.
“Your mom knit me a sweater?”
She’s dumbfounded as she nods, and within seconds, he’s standing up. He swiftly pulls the sweater over his head in one motion, and when his head pops out from the top again, he looks so genuinely pleased that it makes her heart ache. He crosses the room to look at himself in the mirror by her door, and he can’t help but grin at his own reflection.
“This is incredible!”
She watches as he looks down, his fingers tracing the pattern her mother had knit for him. The sweater looks good on him – though everything does, she supposes. She’s so busy ogling him that she barely hears him when he speaks again.
“What time is it back home for you? Can we call her?”
Her eyes widen, and she’s about to shake her head in panic when Jin pouts.
“I really want to thank her… This is so nice, I can’t believe it.”
“Okay,” she concedes, and Jin whoops before grabbing her phone from the coffee table. She hesitantly pulls up the call, and within seconds her mom has answered.
“Hi, baby!” Her mom croons from the screen. It only takes her a second to notice the man beside her before she cries out his name, too. “Oh! Jin!”
“Hi!” Jin waves excitedly from beside Y/N.
“Merry Christmas, you two! What are you upto?”
“We just finished dinner,” Jin informs.
“I hope Y/N didn’t cook,” her mom teases, and Y/N blushes.
“Of course not,” Jin grins. “Don’t worry – I took care of it.” He winks, and her mom claps her hands in delight. “We called because I wanted to thank you for the sweater. I love it.”
Despite the intended short phone call, the two of them delve into conversation again, and Y/N settles in to listen. She can’t help but keep her eyes on Jin as he interacts with her mom, turning to her every now and again to get a dramatic reaction out of her (which she willingly provides). She’s barely listening as she sips her wine, tracing the side of his profile with her gaze, her chin in her hand. She’s in a daze, with a dumb smile on her face, when it happens.
“Thank you again for the sweater,” Jin says seriously. “It means a lot to me.”
Her heart warms to a million degrees, before it promptly turns into ice at her mother’s next choice of words.
“Of course, sweetheart. Anything for the boy my baby girl loves.”
Everything freezes. Her mouth falls open in shock, and it feels like time stops as nobody says anything. It can’t be longer than a few seconds, but it feels like lifetimes before someone breaks the silence.
“The boy she loves, huh?”
It’s Jin who speaks first, and she’s not sure if that’s better or worse. She can feel him looking at her, but she refuses to give in — she knows that there’s absolutely no hiding how flushed she’s become now, and if she meets his eyes, she’ll lose every shred of dignity that she has left in her.
“Of course!” Her mom finally seems to pick up on the tension, and Y/N wants to disappear into the floor. “It looks great on you, Jin. So glad you like it, but I’d better be going.”
Her mom hangs up with a swift goodbye and another ‘Merry Christmas’, and then – it’s just the two of them again. She decides quickly that she can’t be around him for a second longer as she stands abruptly.
“I’ll go do the dishes.”
To her dismay, Jin follows her into the kitchen, standing beside her silently with a towel for drying ready in his hands. He doesn’t speak, but he keeps sneaking glances at her that she willfully ignores, terrified of what might happen if she looks at him directly. It’s dead silent in the kitchen save for the sound of water and clinking dishes, and when she simply can’t bear it anymore, she blurts out the first thing that came to mind.
“I have never in my entire life told my mom that I’m in love with you, just to clarify.”
Great start.
“She said that you loved me, not that you were in love with me.” Jin’s voice is calm as he responds smoothly — a serious juxtaposition to the inside of her mind. “Those two things are very different, so it’s interesting that you just said the latter.”
She feels her cheeks flush even more as she continues to wash the dishes, and she can feel his gaze still on her as he continues to dry the glass that’s in his hands. She’s desperate to change the subject, but he speaks again before she can.
“Do you?”
“Do I what, Jin?” Her tone is full of exasperation.
“Love me.”
She nearly drops the plate she’s washing. “We are not talking about this.”
“It should be an easy answer, shouldn’t it?”
Her heart is racing a million miles per minute as she tries to figure out the best escape plan. “You know the answer already. Of course I do — you’re my friend.”
Jin pauses, silent, before reaching out to grasp onto the other end of the plate that she’s holding in her hands.
“Y/N,” he says, voice a low timbre in the quiet of the kitchen. His eyes search for hers, and as soon as he finds them, she has to fight the urge to look away. “You know what I’m asking.” He pauses again, before finally posing the question that she really wished he wouldn’t, his voice low. “Do you love me like that?”
She opens her mouth to respond, but nothing comes out. She lets him pry the dish from her hands, but instead of drying it, he sets it down on the counter. His drying rag follows soon after, and she’s rooted in place.
“Jin…” She trails off as he takes a step forward, moving even further into her space, and her eyes meet his again.
“I’m in your kitchen on Christmas Day,” he begins, his voice gentle, “wearing a damn sweater that your mom knit for me.” His eyes are gentle. “I’m asking if you’re in love with me.”
She’s stunned into silence. How can she answer him? Why is he pretending that it’s so simple?
“What do you want me to say here, Seokjin?”
He searches her face, a soft smile curling onto his mouth before he says the words that nearly knock her off her feet. “That you love me back would be ideal.”
Her heart stutters in her chest, skipping several beats before righting itself as best as it can.
“Jin—”
“Tell me that you don’t, and I’ll never bring it up again.” His voice is even softer now. He searches her eyes, his dark brown ones warm in the dim light of her kitchen. For the first time, he looks a bit unsure, his brows furrowing gently as he gazes back at her.
“Can you…” She pauses, trying to catch her breath as he waits for her to gather her thoughts.
“Hm?” He prompts gently, urging her to go on.
“Can you say it?”
He blinks back at her, his brows furrowing even more. “Can I say what?”
“What I think you’re saying.” She begins to stumble over her words. “Because you haven’t actually said it, and I need to be sure that I’m not misreading this, because I will—“
“That I love you?”
Her heart leaps into her throat as he cuts her off. She shakes her head, feeling her hands tremble as she moves to twist them into the hem of her shirt. “Not that… I know that you love me.”
The pause that follows is deafening. She can only hope that he puts the rest together on his own, because she can’t tell him what she needs to hear from him. She can’t.
“You don’t already know that I’m in love with you, Y/N?”
She inhales sharply. Within seconds, Jin takes the last step that’s keeping any distance between them, and his hand moves to cover hers, stilling her anxious motions.
“Look at me,” he murmurs, gentle as ever, and she can’t do anything but acquiesce. When her gaze meets his once more, her eyes wide and his soft, he says it again. “I’m in love with you.”
Her breath catches. “You are?”
The man before her lets out a laugh, and his smile is wide as he replies, “Of course I am.”
She can’t help it as his words register, and some of the shock wears off — she laughs too, her face flushed, and as Jin’s fingers softly find her cheek, she can’t help but lean into the warmth of his palm.
“I’m in love with you too, if that wasn’t clear,” she manages breathlessly, and the smile on his face only grows.
“Thank god,” he murmurs, his other hand lifting so that he’s cradling her face between his hands. His forehead moves to rest against hers. “Because I really like this sweater.”
Her ensuing whine is promptly cut off as Jin’s mouth finds hers. She parts her lips without thinking, and he tilts her face up to him even further, pulling her into him as close as he can. He continues to kiss her — soft, slow, consistent kisses, one after the other — and she can feel him smiling into each one. His fingers grasp onto the material of her sweater, pulling her ever closer, and she makes a mental note to thank her mom for the sweaters again.

Seesaw Demo
Min gets stays overnight in Genius Lab during a typhoon.
“Ah… so much better,” Min said, sighing as she stepped out of the shower in the BigHit women’s locker room. She had spent a good amount of time in one of the dance studios with her boyfriend Jimin, meaning she was sweaty and gross. They often had dance sessions with each other, so Min was no stranger to the BigHit showering and locker facilities. The only other thing she had planned for her Saturday was to spend some time in Genius Lab with Yoongi, which she did regularly as well… no point in going all the way home to get showered and dressed.
She went over to the locker that had been rented out to her and pulled out a pair of leggings and a shirt that once belonged to Jimin... Min had joined all the boys in their dance practice once, months and months ago… she had no intentions of dancing but was somehow pulled into it. Of course, she got sweaty and gross after the impromptu practice, and since it was impromptu, she didn’t have a change of clothes. Hobi had managed to swipe one of Jimin’s extra shirts from his locker without him knowing and gave it to Min. As soon as Jimin saw Min wearing his shirt, he was obsessed and let her keep it. It’s been one of her favorite shirts ever since.
She dried her hair, then slipped on her pair of glasses before checking the text she received from Jimin. “I’ve already left, sorry I couldn’t wait for you! Jin-hyung needs me to stop by the grocery store on the way home… I will see you later, though. Have fun with Yoongi-hyung! (but not too much fun;)) Love you!” his text read. Min smiled as she read it and replied, “no worries! You didn’t need to wait for me! Lol I can’t have too much fun without you there ;) Love you too!” She packed up all her essentials into her purse, put on her pair of slides, then headed out of the locker room.
She took the elevator up to where the music studios were, and found her way down the hall to Genius Lab. She pulled out her keyring and found the key to the studio, first unlocking it, then plugging in the passcode. Yoongi’s was the only studio that was both passcode-protected and locked with a lock and key. Only a few people knew the passcode and even fewer people had a copy of the key… and Min was one of them. As she opened the door and entered the studio, she was unsurprised to find the lights dimmed and Min Suga laying on the small couch fast asleep.
Min looked down at her watch. “6:00 PM… he should be waking up soon,” she said to herself, fully familiar with his weird nocturnal tendencies. She sat down in his desk chair and swiveled around to his desk. She noticed one of his infamous yellow legal pads, with the title “SEESAW” written at the top. Underneath it was scribbles and notes of different chords and chord progressions, as if he were trying to figure out what tune to use for the song. “How long have you been here?” Min heard the tired voice of Yoongi say, slightly startling her. “Just a minute or so…” she replied, turning to look at him.
He sat up on the couch and stretched his arms high above his head, yawning as he did so. He progressed to standing up, stretching his whole body as he woke himself up. “I see you still haven’t figured ‘Seesaw’ yet,” Min commented, looking back over at his yellow legal pad. Yoongi shook his head. “I’m nearly finished with producing all the other songs on the album, so my time of procrastination is over,” he said, looking over at his notes. “So that’s what I was going to work on tonight,” he said. Min got up from his chair, allowing him to sit down, and she sat down on the couch, setting her purse down next to her.
She felt her phone vibrating, as she was receiving a call from Jimin. “Hey,” she answered. “Min-ah! Are you still at BigHit?” he asked, getting straight to the point. “Yeah… I’m in Genius Lab now… why? What’s up?” she replied, wondering what his sudden question was about. “As I was leaving the convenience store, I saw on the news that there is a warning for a large typhoon that is supposed to hit us soon… and it’s supposed to stick around through the night,” Jimin explained. “Wait, forreal?” Min asked. “Yeah… and it’s starting to rain pretty hard already… do you think you could stick around there for the night? I don’t want you to travel through the typhoon to get home,” he said.
Min looked over at Yoongi and asked, “there’s a typhoon coming through tonight… would it be ok if I stayed here with you?” He shrugged, acting indifferent. “Do what you want,” he replied, simply. “Yoongi seems fine having an overnight guest… are you fine with me being alone with him all night?” Min asked, knowing that her boyfriend easily got jealous. “Of course! Don’t be stupid! I care about your safety first, Min… and besides, I’ve been to Genius Lab once… it’s definitely not built to be a chick magnet,” Jimin said with a laugh. Min chuckled. “Ok… well, let me know as soon as you get back to the dorm safely, ok?? I love you, Jiminie,” she said. “I will… love you too,” he replied before hanging up.
“Well… sounds like you’re stuck with me for the rest of the night,” Min said, pulling up the weather app on her phone and checking the hourly rate. “100% storms until around 7 AM,” she said. In reply, Yoongi’s stomach growled. “Well, since you’re here for the long haul, we might as well grab some food,” he said, getting up from his seat. “Sounds good… I’m starving,” Min replied, thinking about her original plans of eating a late supper at the dorm with Jimin. “Oh… I bet Mun is worried about the storm… I better text her,” Min said as she followed Yoongi out of the studio.
“I think I remember Jin-hyung saying that tonight was their cooking date night thingy that they do,” Yoongi said as they approached the elevator. Min smiled as she typed out her message to her sister. “Well if she’s with him, she’ll be just fine,” she said, knowing how terrified of storms her sister could be. They rode the elevator down to the third floor, where the dining facilities were. “I think I’m just feeling some kimbap today,” Min said, going up to the counter and placing her order. Yoongi placed his order as well, and once the food was ready, they brought it back up to Genius Lab.
The pair sat down, with Min in the couch and Yoongi in his chair, and ate their food from the to-go boxes they got from the cafeteria. “So you said you’re not making any progress on ‘Seesaw’?” Min asked as they ate. He shrugged. “Not really… nothing has jumped out at me yet,” he replied. “I think you have a good start there, though,” Min said, pointing over at his notepad. “The F minor key is already a great idea…” she added. “I can’t seem to get a good progression for the chords down,” he replied, setting his food down on his desk and swiveling towards the keyboard. He played an Fm, then C, then Ab, and Eb.
“Why don’t you try starting on like… a Db?” Min suggested, after taking a moment to think about what would sound good. “Hmm,” Yoongi said, playing a Db, then walking up to an Eb, then the Fm. “That may actually work for the intro…” he said, giving it more thought. He repeated the chords in a slow progression, then landed on a C before repeating the chords, this time landing on an Eb. “I like that, actually,” he said, reaching over for his yellow notepad and scribbling some notes on it. Mon continued to eat as she listened to Yoongi mess around with other chords, and writing down notes as he played.
“Ok, how is this?” he asked, playing a slightly slow progression of chords, switching them up just as soon as Min thought she could predict the pattern. “What??? How did you come up with that all on the spot?” Min asked, already digging the tune. “Because you told me what to do,” he said. “Literally all I told you was to try and start on a Db!! The rest was all you, Mr. Genius Lab!!” Min said, laughing. Yoongi played through his long chord progression again, and grinned at the result. Without saying anything, he plugged in his keyboard to his computer, playing it through again one more time so that he could mess with it on the digital platform.
He logged into his computer and formatted the keys that he had just played into MIDI. Min finished eating her kimbap, watching Yoongi do his thing from behind. His studio was called “Genius Lab” for a reason. “I think it would sound better as a synth…” Yoongi said, slightly under his breath as he rearranged the length of the chords and tested out several different sounds to it. Once he settled on one, he played it through, closing his eyes as they listened to it.
Min felt her phone vibrate, and she noticed she was receiving a call from her boyfriend. “Hey, did you make it to the dorm safely?” Min asked as soon as she answered the phone. “Yes! But just barely. I could see the storm following as the bus drove, and nearly as soon as I entered the building, the wind and downpour became so much worse!” Jimin said. “Well, I’m glad I’m indoors, then,” Min said, relieved Jimin was home safely.
“How are things going there?” Jimin asked as he slipped his shoes off and hung up his wet jacket. “It’s going well! You know how it is… just watching Min Suga work on a new song,” she said. “Did you get something to eat?” he then asked. “Oh definitely… you know how much I need food after dancing for that long!! The kimbap in the cafeteria was actually so good today… but maybe that’s just because I was extra hungry…” Min rambled, suddenly stopping herself when she noticed Yoongi had paused his music and was sitting, looking at her with his hands folded in his lap, as if patiently waiting.
“Oh… he’s giving me the look… I’ll text you, ok?” Min asked Jimin, causing him to chuckle. “Sounds good… I love you,” Jimin replied. “Love you too, Jiminie,” Min said before hanging up the phone. Nearly as soon as she hung up, Yoongi turned back to his computer and played the music again. “Genius Lab is for music, not for being all lovey and sentimental with your boyfriend,” Yoongi said, focusing on his computer. “Oh, please… Min Suga, one day you are going to meet a woman who will sweep you off your feet and you won’t be able to help but be all lovey towards her!” Min said with a laugh. “I’d like to see her try,” he said in an unamused tone.
Min rolled her eyes, then began to re-focus on the music. “Don’t you think it’s a bit slow?” Min asked. Yoongi nodded. “I was thinking the same thing… but we can use this as the background filler, and overlay a faster-tempo progression over it,” he said, swiveling back around to his keyboard. With the background filler playing on repeat, Yoongi began playing random keys, trying to find a good rhythm and melody to go with it. “Oh!! That was good… like the dum da da da da dum…” Min sung part of the tune he had played.
“Oh,” Yoongi said, simply. He knew which part of his random playing she was referring to and began to play the notes in a steady rhythm, switching the chords as the backtrack synth did. “Yes!! That sounds so good! I like it!!” Min commented, already loving it. Yoongi switched the tone of his keyboard to a soft synth that complimented the backtrack. “I think I like it, too,” he replied, uploading the MIDI to his computer so he could further edit and refine it.
The duo continued to add more and more things to the track, with Min giving Yoongi suggestions, and him taking them to a whole new level as he added layers to the backtrack, making the song sound fuller and more refined as they went along. Min did her fair share of adjusting the MIDI notes whenever Yoongi took a bathroom break, and time seemed to fly as they collaborated. They went back and forth between sitting in a comfortable silence as they worked and chatting each other’s ears off… though their conversation rarely strayed away from the subject of music.
Min stood up after sitting for… who even knows how long… and stretched, yawning as she did so. “Oh my goodness… I think I need some coffee! I’m going to go down to the cafeteria and get some… do you want anything?” she asked Yoongi. “Well, the cafeteria doesn’t open for another hour,” he said. Min looked at him, puzzled. “What? What… what time is it?” she asked. Yoongi turned and looked at his computer. “4:48am…” he replied, matter-of-factly. “4:48AM??” Min asked, shocked. She pulled out her phone and realized it really was almost 5 in the morning.
“Have we been working on this literally through the night?” Min asked. Yoongi laughed at how surprised she was. “Now you know how I’m able to spend so many nights just working on music… the ideas really flow through the night,” Yoongi said. “I literally didn’t notice… Jimin was texting me the whole time too! Though… I guess he does have his fair share of all-nighters now that I think about it,” Min said with a chuckle. “Well… I definitely need some coffee now…” she added.
“I usually use the coffee machine in the break room, since the cafeteria is closed… and I’ll take a cup too, if it’s not too much trouble,” Yoongi said. Min nodded. “Two cups of coffee coming right up,” she said, slipping on her slides and exiting Genius Lab. She walked down the hall to the elevator, and as she did so, she noticed an overall calmness in the air… there were no staff bustling through the hallways like during the day. It was nice. She heard an occasional noise from inside some of the other studios she passed, but overall, it was silent.
She took the elevator to the practice rooms floor and found the coffee machine in the breakroom. She brewed two cups of coffee before heading back up to Genius Lab, where she found Yoongi still sitting at his computer. “I think it’s done,” he said, taking the coffee that Min handed him. “Ok, let’s hear it,” she said, sitting back down on the couch and taking a sip of her own coffee. Yoongi hit play, and the quiet sounds of nature that they added in the beginning started to play, followed by the easing in of the synth and melodic rhythm they came up with.
When the song came to an end, Min couldn’t help but grin from ear-to-ear. “It’s perfect…” she said, smiling over at her friend. “Ehhh, I wouldn’t say ‘perfect,’ but it’s definitely a good start,” Yoongi said, downloading the completed file onto a flash drive, titling the file “SEESAW_DEMO-1.” “I’m going to run it by Slow Rabbit later today… he’ll have good insight on what to change with it,” Yoongi said. “I lowkey hope he doesn’t change it that much… I feel like I actually may have contributed a brain cell to this project!!” Min said.
Yoongi chuckled. “You contributed much more than just a brain cell! Your entire night was devoted to this demo! I’ll make sure your contributions make it into the final song,” he said. “In fact… How would you feel about maybe lending your vocals?” he asked. “My vocals in a Min Suga solo song? I don’t think they would fit very well with your style, would it?” Min asked, skeptically, though really she was just terribly nervous at the thought.
“It’ll be my style still… but I’ll write it in a way that would allow your vocals to be included in it,” Yoongi replied. Min gave it some more thought. Though she was nervous, it wasn’t every day that Prod. Suga asked someone to feature in one of his tracks. “Ok… only if I’m not acknowledged on the song credits,” she said. “I wasn’t planning on giving you any of the credit anyways… since you only contributed one brain cell,” Yoongi said with a smirk. Min laughed and rolled her eyes. “Min Yoongi… how did I just manage to survive the entire night with you?” she asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
