a friend just tipped me off about Fund a Kitchen in Gaza, a free tool that helps you locate and donate to community kitchens currently serving some of Gaza's most vulnerable!

this lets you choose a region (south, central, north) and see which kitchens operate in that area, then donate to as many as you can.

as a reminder, community kitchens try to buy and cook in bulk, which makes ingredients last longer & sustain more people in the conditions of extreme scarcity that Israel is imposing right now. they are also able to serve people on the ground who may not have the means to reach out online.

so, whether through this tool or not, please do support community kitchens, as well as mutual aid groups that cover additional needs, such as the Sameer Project (meals, tents, cash aid, medical aid) and Dahnoun Mutual Aid (meals, tents, baby supplies, cash aid, winter clothes).

The last time Nader messaged me, he asked if I could please write him a post before abruptly saying that his situation is unsafe due to bombardment and his battery is running low. I’m really worried for him. Again, he’s only 17, his father has cancer and is recovering from surgery, and even small donations help.

A new viewpoint on antlers reveals the evolutionary history of deer (Cervidae, Mammalia)

something i've wanted to do for a while now. i've scoured the internet for something like this and can't find anything that compares all the different types of antlers together. except one recent study on their evolution, which is also very interesting on its own! i simplified it to provide a visual reference, while still trying to be scientifically accurate. some things differ between this and trophy scoring terminology like where the beam is and whatnot, so if something looks weird that's why.

small additional note, this study and others provide a lot of evidence that eld's deer should be in their own genus as it doesn't appear similar enough to barasingha and schomburgk's deer. however this doesn't seem to be adapted anywhere yet, so they're still in Rucervus for this guide.

Hi tumblr. Guess who’s alive again!!!! Anyways here’s sword and rocket as fantasy creatures, I actually made these a long time ago but I just completely forgot to post them :’DD

for those curios, this is like a mini little fun silly au of mine, nothing much and I’m not gonna draw anything for it in the future but it was me turning Phighters into different fantasy monsters or creatures, currently:

Rocket is a Kelpie Centaur, Sword is a harpy, Scythe would be a Greek Sphinx, Subspace would be a manticore, Coil would be a Japanese Knobold, Broker would be a siren, Slingshot would be a werecat, etc etc! Here’s an extra little fun doodle by the way, I hate them. /aff

Hello, Iam Sami, From Gaza, Palestine. Iam the eldest in the family. I have five brothers, i love them and my parents very much, i used to take care of them, i used to feel responsible about them, so that, iam writing to you, with great pain. And we decided,me and my mother , to start this campaign, it's the only hope for us to survive.

Iam 19 years old, iam a very premium student, i always used to be the first in the class.

I started the previous year with a great hope to have avery high average as i used to, it was a very divisive year to me, after which, i will enter university, it,s the general secondary school. I used to start studying grom 3a.m till mid night, this toil was because my dream became closer to achieve, i will travel abroad, i will study and work together, i will help my family, i will escape from this city, the city of wars. But unfortunately, i didn't catch up.

The war broke down in Oct, the 7th,2023. We were displaced, the next day of bte war, our home was bombed and destroyed completely. From that moment, everything in ouu life was destroyed as well.

The only thing that i took from our home is my books, they were the most valuable thing to me. But, in vain. I lost this year, i lost my life, i spent this year in horror, escaping from death here and there, with my family.

My daily life became, instead of studying, waking up early searching for water, searching for a very simple meal, searching for wood to enable us to cook. Even my little brothers help in this works, we are trying to defend ourselves from hunger and thirst. That's our daily life in the tough tent, under burning sun in summer, and cold, rain and storms in winter. Iam exhausted.

And now death became surrounding us from every were, we are trapped in a very narrow area, under rockets. We are under a genocide.

But still, there is a little light from a small window in this grave. it's the last attempt to survive.

It's a highly reputable organization which has broken its long-standing neutrality to denounce Israel in front of the UN. While my last post for Nader's family's campaign got to 4,000+ notes, it quickly slowed in donations, and the poll got 7,000+ votes. This means a lot of people did stop to look at the post because of the poll, but not interact much beyond that, which is disheartening considering a lot of people on here post about Gaza.

It is a very simple donation process--you don't need an account or anything--and literally any amount is appreciated.

I'm asking today for people to match my donation of (at least) €10 (share evidence in the notes if you want), and if you know anyone who could get the campaign more traction on here or another site, share it with them, especially if you've shown support for the cause.

My poll mentions Halloween because it's coming up and a popular holiday in the US and a time to remember that no tragedy is put on hold while you find enjoyment in such things.

This campaign is vetted (#4 on this list) and currently has €15,426 raised out of a goal of €50,000 and slowed in activity.
