On November 1494 François Rabelais, the author of the masterpiece “Gargantua and Pantagruel” was born. The text was written in an amusing, extravagant, and satirical vein, and featured much crudity, scatological humor, and violence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gargantua_and_Pantagruel Illustrated by Maya Shlefier

On Nov. 10th 1982, the Swan Lake ballet was broadcast on the only Soviet TV channel instead of a planned program. On the next morning the death of Leonid Brezhnev was announced. During the following 3 years, two other soviet leaders would die. Each death would be accompanied by another broadcast of the Swan Lake.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonid_Brezhnev Illustrated by Maya Shlefier

Familiar Stranger
Mamuta art and Research Center‭, ‬Hansen House Jerusalem
Passersby, people on the train, women who meet during walks, passengers on the bus – others and strangers are the inspiration for this series of works, which explores the world of familiar strangers as I imagine it. In the exhibition that took place at Mamuta Art and Media Centre, Jerusalem, illustrations gain another dimension through various techniques: from mythological devices that hark back to the early days of cinema like Zoetrope to physical computing. The installations in the exhibition hold a dialogue with the world of pop up books and incorporate projections of moving images and static illustrations in varying degrees of interactivity.
Curators: Sala-Manca, programming: Guy Yitzhaki, the Wheel mechanism: Yuval Kedem, animation: studio Poink, sound: Ophir Gal video: Denis Paduchev
