The Bloodhound🌾
These hounds were a highly regarded breed that historically have been a bit everywhere! According to legend however, the breed is descendants from the St. Hubert Hound, which was bred by monks in Belgium in the 8th and 9th centuries. This "aristocratic ancestry" was brought to America in the 1800's. Their large ears and astounding nose were used for deer and boar hunting, and tracking escaped slaves. Nowadays bloodhounds are mostly used for search and rescue, hunting, or being fat family dogs whose lazy, gluttonous attitude makes you wonder how they were successful as hunting dogs at all🐶🍖

The Old English Sheepdog🌾
While the breed is one of Hollywood's most beloved dogs, they were originally bred to be "Drover Dogs" in 1800 Western England! Drover dogs are strong and sturdy dogs who would drive sheep and herds to markets. They'd also pull carts and wagons. With all that talent and looks, it's easy to see why they were one of Hollywood's showstoppers🐑✨

The Great Pyrenees🌾
This breed was bred to be a livestock guardian for the farmers in the Pyrenees Mountains of Europe. However the breed didn't originate from there! They likely arrived around the year 3,000 B.C. Experts believe the breed evolved from white mountain dogs that originated in Asia Minor as many as 11,000 years ago. That's around the time when we domesticated sheep! No wonder the Great Pyrenees gets along with its flock, it's had millenniums to do so🐑🐾

The Border Collie🌾
The breed was, and still is used today, for herding livestock. They're best known for a behavior called "eyeing"- which imitates livestock into moving a desired direction. The breed originates in the 1700's in England and Scotland- though there is debate they date way back with the Romans 2,000 years ago! While being an older breed, the AKC only recognized the Border Collie in 1995. Today they come in many colors aside from the iconic black and white. Truly the best farm dog around🐶🌾
