nothin’ like puttin’ petal to the metal! fuck it, right? it’s fast, exhilarating, and you feel more alive than ever.
it’s better, you tell yourself, to have your heart beat wildly out of your chest than have it slow to a stop. you can run away farther and farther.
you’ll crash. you know it, you see the ground rushing toward you; you don’t care.
you close your eyes, open your arms, and pray that it doesn’t hurt.

saw a post saying we don’t crackship anymore, and i wanna try to bring that back because it’s fun.
my personal fav crackship is joel from the last of us and the mandalorian (…from the mandalorian).
i just think these two grumpy accidental dads would not only heal their own traumatized souls but also create the cutest fucking family imaginable.

the mirrored room
i am a hollow shell
in an empty room.
the walls are made of glass
people can look in.
at first, they stare
always.
some smile
a look of fond admiration.
others scowl…
disgusted.
all of them think they understand
they are wrong.
no one looks through
past their reflection.
i can see them
no one sees me.

spilling the tea for AetherNet pt. 2
A/N: hi hi everyone! happy sunday :) I'm gonna share what happens after part 1 and provide more insight into the plot of my story! so far, I have 2000 concrete words written for this story, and I hope to finish chapter one with written words soon, and maybe I'll share it with all of you! I hope you enjoy, and have a day of relaxation today!
So, we left off with this fugitive asking Jaedyn to kill him.
Rightfully so, Jaedyn is like what the fuck no? Like that was the last thing on the list and that's only if he goes to hurt Morgan. He's like no, man I really just want you out of my house (well, alleyway, but still).
But this guy doesn't back down he's like well if you don't wanna do it, she can. That was your plan, right?
Which it was sorta the plan, but he's not gonna admit that right now. So he's like um no way get the fuck out dude, like I'm not gonna kill you, like go out and suffer the consequences of your actions.
So fugitive guy starts freaking out and is like bro absolutely no way, I can't go back there. I can't do it.
Jaedyn is like sorry dude but like you're not gonna get out of this, you'll have to face what they want to do to you.
This is where the second curveball hits and the guy is like it's not about what they'll do to me, it's about what they want to make me do.
That's when it clicks for Jaedyn that if this guy wanted to hurt them, they likely would already be dead. Pieces start forming together here, and he has to make a decision. Now, his logic brain is like this guy is a fugitive, throw him to the fucking street like a dog.
However, Jaedyn gets these intense gut feelings a lot of the time, and occasionally they clash with his logic brain. Whenever he doesn't listen, something bad always happens. Now, his gut feeling is saying to help this guy.
This is the first time his gut instincts and his logic have clashed so harshly, and Jaedyn has like five seconds to decide since the alarm bell has now rang twice, meaning they're gonna start the sweep any fucking second.
Surprising even Jaedyn himself, he goes with his gut, because he actually can help this guy out - he's gotten himself out of level four sweeps before using this trick.
(Quick aside, level four sweeps are done with soldiers walking through the main streets with infrared source detectors. It's the highest level "general sweep" just before level five where they start invading people's homes)
((Last aside, level five sweeps need royal clearance before they can happen, but since they started with a level four, a level five could come a day or two later if there's probable cause during the level four sweep)).
ANYWAYS Jaedyn discovered if you hide behind a solid black metal sheet, it will block the infrared detectors from seeing your core. He keeps a large sheet in the back of the alleyway just in case, so he leads the fugitive back there and is like crouch behind this and do. not. move.
The guy is initially skeptically, and questions Jaedyn, who then says some cool ass line that boils down to "just trust me, bro" and the guy relents and hides.
Jaedyn goes back up to Morgan and gives the "all clear" command, and she's like bro????? we're definitely not clear???? and Jaedyn is like there's nothing wrong so go back to playing, which she does but she's veeeeeery reluctant, which is the first time that has happened in their relationship as well. (Lots of new things happening!)
So, the sweep happens and it's very intense but it works out and the sirens call the all-clear. Jaedyn sighs, and immediately begins thinking of the plan when the fugitive comes like wobbling out. He is like badly shaking and hyperventilating, and he pretty much faints in Jaedyn's arms.
******************************
E/N: Soo, I'm thinking of ending chapter 1 of Jaedyn and Eli's story here? Either here or at the end of part 1, I haven't decided yet. Next part will have more of Eli and Jaedyn before I move on to another character. Toodles!

this is why i am trying desperately to pave my own path. i hate how disney/corporations have corrupted stories into plastic remakes. stories that had heart, soul, purpose, and intent. stories that meant something.
i know on the internet, and in the world now, authenticity is nearly impossible to find.
i’ve given up looking, and decided to create it for myself.
piece by piece, brick by brick, i will build my story. i don’t care how loud i need to scream for the world to understand that this is not the answer.
i will do it until my throat is hoarse.
fuck corporations. fuck disney.
i think the key difference between george lucas’s star wars and disney’s star wars is that lucas is a man with an ideology. someone with a point of view, and all that entails. which comes with ideas of revolution, anti-imperialism, challenging the status quo, cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes. complex and contradictory ideas because that’s how artists are: complex and complicated people. disney is not. disney is a corporation. a corporation can’t have ideology, because ideology defeats the purpose of profit. and when the only thing you do is to turn on the movie manufacturing machine before you sit down and plan what ideas are you trying to convey to the audience, then your results are going to be washed out corporate garbage. and because when you’re a giant corporation who only cares about selling to the widest audience possible, you can’t take sides. you can’t decide on an idea. because you want to sell your product to people who are on the entire political spectrum. which results in movies without ideology, without purpose, without soul.

Magic in AetherNet pt. 3
A/N: Hey gang! Back at it with another world-building post! I'm thinking there will be one more post about the general vibes of the types of numen, before going into more detail! If there's anything y'all want clarification on, let me know and I will make a post about it :)
Here's part 1 & part 2 as well in case you missed something!
*****************************************************************
Glad to be back at this again! Let's kick things off by talking about earth neumans.
Those with earth power sources still fall under the aether category. These energy systems will glow a bright green when in use, and they can have one of the following abilities:
Manipulation and transformation of earth faces.
Empathetic connection to plants and animals.
Similar to light neumans, it is rare for an earth neuman to have both abilities. Unlike fire or light, they cannot create rocks or metals out of thin air. This is rarely a hindrance though, since there is earth literally everywhere. The majority of earth neumans will possess the ability to manipulate and transform rock faces. Because of this, most work as factory workers, blacksmiths, constructionist, or architects. Those with the ability to empathetically connect to life outside of neumans are work as veterinarians, animal controllers, or spirit guides.
Factory work, blacksmiths and construction is deemed a common man's job, but they are incredibly important as they contribute to the foundation of society. Most end up manipulating earth and metal into whatever shapes are being asked of them, whether it be small -scale like factory work, weapons, jewels, roads, buildings, etc. These workers are essential and involved in nearly all aspects of life. They see everything.
Architects are seen as a job you can get as a neuman that will advance you out of the working class. These guys are still involved in the factories, smithies, and construction sites, but they are the ones doing the designing.
Owning pets is seen as a huge luxury, so most veterinarians end up working for someone with a lot of money. The only other option for those with empathetic powers is animal control, which is a branch of the military. Spirit guides forgo payment and don't have bills, but as a result they opt out of societal protection.
Before I talk about sun neuman (the last type of aether core) let me explain the difference between aether and nether cores.
Power sources ruled by aether have sun & life energy. Aether, when in a harmless state, feels warm to the touch and is bright, and some have been noted to have beats of life pulsing through. When aether is reaching harmful states, it burns and is blinding. The core types of light, fire, earth, and sun all encompass the feelings of aether. Since aether is ruled by the sun, those with sun cores possess all the abilities of aether (more on that in a second).
Power sources ruled by nether have moon & deathly energy. When in a harmless state, nether feels cool to the touch and absorbs light. Some have also noted beats pulsing through nether, but it has a lower frequency and doesn't produce the same "beats of life" that aether has. When nether reaches harmful states, it's coldness is biting, and darkness swallows the environment. The core types of shadow, wind, water, and moon all encompass the feelings of nether. Since nether is ruled by the moon, those with moon cores possess all the abilities of nether.
Alright! Now back to sun neumans, the last type of aether cores! These power systems glow a golden yellow while in use. As mentioned, because their core is the patron of aether, they can do all abilities of the other aether cores...with limitations. What these limitations look like can vary, but the most common thing seen is that these neuman have a mesh of these abilities
Light production, but they can only cast sun rays
Can heal absolutely any ailment, metaphysical or physical, once. Then never again.
Can produce fire, but only sun-colored flames. They can control temperature, but it's a more limited range.
Can manipulate earth and has a mild empathetic connection to other life.
Don't get it confused, just because these neuman can do all abilities of aether does NOT mean they are seen as godly, or even powerful. Most end up have average or weak cores, and as a result it's really hard for them to hold down jobs. Most end up working as mercenaries and bounce from place to place, or they work odd jobs. They're mostly casted as a "jack of all trades, master of none" situation. Some do go off and join the earth spirit guides as well!
E/N: And that's it for this post! Next up will be the nether cores, and then we keep moving from there! Thank you so much for being on this journey with me :) I hope your hair cooperates with you today!

AetherNet Main Cast!
A/N: Hey, I wish everyone good health :) I'm gonna talk about the characters of this book today, since they are important to talk about! I love these dudes so much, and I think they are cool as shit. Once I get better at digital art, I'm gonna draw them!
*Here is the main cast!*
Jaedyn Mineral: A 23 year old homeless resident of the UnderCity in Heobelle, Brucreya. He's 5'9', lanky as shit, platinum blond hair that he usually covers in a dirt-layered dye, and has green eyes. He is an earth numan, with a particular specialty in metal work. Due to the size of his core, he can only work part-time at a blacksmith shop, and all of his money is spent on food and emergencies for himself and Morgan. He has lived in the UnderCity his whole life, and his life changes when Eli jumps into his alleyway and pins him against the wall.
Wayde Arum: An 18 year old from a well-off suburban area in Venna, Brucreya. He's 5'10, super athletic, golden blond curly hair, and has ocean blue eyes. He is a sun numan (a jack of all trades of aether powers), and he has an above average core size - an unusual feat for a sun numan. He has lived in Venna his whole life, and his life changes when he meets Ayana and gets recruited by the Academy.
Selena Air: A 20 year old currently imprisoned inside "The Brig", an organization dedicated to the experimental advancement of numen-kind. She's 5'10 with a bulk athletic stature, brown skin, black curly hair, and deep brown eyes. She has a large wind core that has grown in size due to the advancements given to her at the Brig, where she has been at since she was born. Her life changes when a new cellmate moves in across from hers: Amon.
Vesta Ember: A 21 year old royal of the country Syva, and she lives in the capital city, Oquathe. She's 5'2, petite with brown skin, coily hair that's braid into dreads, and honey brown eyes. She's a fire numan with an average core, and she's done minimal training to advance her skills, despite desperately wanting to be a part of the world and travel freely. Her life changes when she decides to run away from home, and meets a historian named Marcus.
Ella Luna: A 21 year old refugee of Brucreya who is living in the capital city of Zeto, which is Zhophus. She's 5'7, with wavy brown hair and bright blue eyes. She's got a moon core (jack of all trades for nether powers) and it's ~slightly~ above average but not super noticeable. Ella has traveled around from place to place after her attempted kidnapping at age 10, which ripped her away from her family. When arriving at Zhophus 5 years ago, she had one goal: find her brother.
Morgan Shadow: A six year old girl who was taken in by Jaedyn when he found her as a baby. She's small for her age, with pin-straight black hair and eyes. She is a shadow numan with a very large core that is still set to grow as she does. She's stayed in the UnderCity her entire short life, which changes with Jaedyn's since she's dependent on him.
Ayana Catalina: A 25 year old from the working class district in Venna, Brucreya. She's 5'4, curvy, with strawberry blonde waves and light blue eyes. She's a light numan with an exceptional ability to heal most if not all physical ailments. While she's done some light traveling, she's stayed mostly in the Venna area, and her life changes when she meets Wayde, and gets recruited by the Academy.
Amon Light: A 24 year old prisoner of The Brig. He's 5'11, muscularly lean, with platinum blonde hair and grey eyes. He's a light numan with his specialty being in light production. He was taken in by the Brig as a child, and has big plans for the future of numen-kind.
Marcus Deckle: A 26 year old historical traveler. He's 5'11, incredibly burly, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He is a water numan, with a specialty in ice work. He's been traveling the world, living his best carefree life, until he runs into Vesta trying to run away from her rule-bound, stuffy life.
Eli "Marcellus" Sol: A 21 year old fugitive from The Brig. He's 6'2, with broad shoulders, unevenly chopped raven hair, brown skin, and honey brown eyes. He is a sun numen, and thanks to the experiments done at the Brig, his core has been enhanced by adding a tiny fraction of nether via injection directly into his main core, allowing him to perform nether abilities at will. At the start, he escapes from the Brig, and runs for weeks until reaching the UnderCity of Heobelle, and meeting Jaedyn, where his life changes and he develops his own goals of finding his sister, whom they were separated when he was taken to the Brig at 10 years old.
**
E/N: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand those are the characters! The main ones, at least. As I said, I will be drawing these guys digitally so everyone can see how visually awesome they all are :) I hope you eat a yummy lunch today! Thanks for reading!

Tea Time for AetherNet pt.1
A/N: Hello! I hope everyone is having a great weekend :) I'm starting this series where I gossip about my WIP's plotlines. These are rough drafts of ideas, so they might change when I go to do a final draft. I hope you enjoy reading through!
This tea session will be for AetherNet (obviously), and since this is part one, we are going to start at the beginning!
*
So, we start with this gorgeous panoramic view of this city that, at a glance, reminds you of Disney Land. At the center is Cinderella's castle, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens in full bloom. Outside the castle gates, there are well-crafted, detailed buildings of architecture, with similar-styled houses in between. Think Victorian era for the most part. While there are a lot of buildings, it doesn't feel too crowded and it has so much greenery and nature that it feels like a wonderland.
The group of tourists who are about to enter into this castle also agree - this is the most artistic place on Earth! The two tour guides who are leading them are also overly-enthusiastic about Heobelle, the capital city of Brucreya. They talk about the rich history that has been here for thousands of years, with buildings dating back to the Ole Days; and they show how interactive the entire grounds are with any type of energy. The group is grossly buying the act, rapid for the next spectacle and the promise of meeting certain celebrities.
One of the tour guides nudges the other, and jerks his head toward the city gate. They both scowl at the lanky boy in all black clothes leaning against the doors, smoking a cigarette. They quickly do rock paper scissors to see who has to go over there. The younger guide loses, so he trudges up to the boy with this fake ass smile and is like hey you look too young to be smoking cigs, where are your parents?
The boy's name is Jaedyn, and he's like I'm 23, and my parents are dead, so fuck off.
The tour guide immediately drops the act and is like look buddy, you know you can't be here unless you pay.
Jaedyn is like I'm outside the city gates, so you can't charge me shit. He like settles more against the wall, and makes a show of not moving.
Tour guide is getting anxious now. He looks back and sees that the group is getting closer. He's like please man, can you at least like move to the side or something? Jaedyn doesn't say anything, instead just blows cigarette smoke in his face. The tour guide is eventually like look man, I'll pay you.
This gets Jaedyn's attention. He's like how much bro?
Tour guide is like ummm idk like one silver coin?
Jaedyn is immediately like make it two and you've got yourself a deal. The tour guide scowls, pulls out his pouch and fishes out two silver coins. He tosses them at Jaedyn and says some shitty line like get lost you filthy slob or something like that.
Jaedyn could literally care less. He was expecting like 5 bronze coins, so two silver is a huge score. He saunters off towards the woods that surround the city. He's walked this path like thousands of times - so have many others who live in the underbelly city of Heobelle.
There's a marker of some kind to show the entrance. They keep having to make/redo it because of the strict laws of Heobelle. This is the main entrance into the undercity, but Jaedyn actually walks a little ways past this and goes to the smallest tree in sight. It is here that we get a close up view of someone using their abilities!
Jaedyn has an earth core, so his core and eyes light up green while in use. Using his powers, he opens a hole in the ground and jumps through. He lands on the ceiling of Heobelle's undercity, which is made of aluminum. Carefully, he creates a short, sharp cord out of his aether to slowly cut through the metal. Beads of sweat form quickly, and he has to stop after making a two foot slice. He turns off his core and takes several deep breaths before turning it on again to push the metal back.
He shimmies through the makeshift hole and steps onto the ceiling of the concrete buidling. He reaches up and reseals the metal ceiling, which now looks as though Jaedyn had simply evaporated through it rather than cutting a hole.
The panoramic view of this city is gross and unnatural. Since it's completely underground, they need a TON of artificial light. It's kinda smoggy since so many people live here, so in the corners of the city are large ventilators that are pumping in artificial air. The buildings are packed together, and they all look the same. Most are either concrete or a gray metal. The only plants around are the ones people desperately keep alive in their apartment, for those who can afford such a luxury.
He walks toward the ladder attached outside of the building, having to duck his head slightly underneath the ceiling. He climbs down the building into an empty alleyway that no one can live in because it's filled to the brim with trash (except for a small walking path that Jaedyn had created).
Standing at the alleyway entrance, he watches the morning rush take place. This is the rush of people who are walking to work, and there's a whole ass system here you gotta navigate. Lucky for Jaedyn, he has lived on these streets his whole life, so once he jumps into the rush, he is able to maneuver his way around people and doesn't get stuck.
It's clear he knows where he's going, which is to this small deli shop. The woman at the counter is calling out the deals of the day. She stops when she sees Jaedyn and smiles a toothy grin at him; she's missing one of her front teeth. Without saying a word, she pulls out a bag and hands it over to him. He doesn't even check the contents, instead he simply opens his pouch and hands over one of the silver pieces he earned today. She exchanges the change, giving him three bronze coins.
Just as he is about to go, he spots the small cake she has the counter. It's lumpy, and missing three slices already. He asks how much for a slice, and she replies one silver piece. Jaedyn sighs and in his head is like welp that ain't happening. The lady stops him from leaving though and is like I still have a lot of yesterday's cake - it's strawberry, so no one ever buys it. I'll sell it to you for 3 bronze pieces. He smiles genuinely is like thank you so much! She comes back with two slices being like the second slice is on the house, thank you for being a loyal regular, blah blah blah you get it.
So Jaedyn leaves pretty happy. He walks through the crowd again and reaches the alleyway that he lives at, and has for a long time. However, for the past three years it's gotten harder and harder to spot. He goes to the building with the large number 451 stamped on it and knocks rhythmically on the wall.
A 12 foot opening materializes suddenly. Jaedyn walks through to see the alleyway that Morgan had hidden from everyone else.
Morgan is a six year old girl. Jaedyn found her when she was three. She has a shadow nether core, and a very large one, so he has been doing his best to train her. Lately, she's been practicing her illusions, which is what was hiding the alleyway from sight.
She is excited to see him home, especially with food. Jaedyn also tells her he has a surprise for her birthday dinner tonight (the cake, of course). He starts unpacking the food he got at the deli and begins to ration it for the day when he begins to hear a commotion out on the streets.
Jaedyn and Morgan have a series of commands that they use for potentially dangerous situations, since Morgan is the more powerful neuman between the two. He gives her a command to stay alert while he goes and peaks out onto the street. He's not worried right now since Morgan still has her illusions hiding the alley, and this city is full of aether users unable to see nether energy.
Out on the streets, there is a man running wildly against the flow of traffic, which is pissing everyone off. He's frantic, whipping his head around looking for something. Jaedyn realizes too late that he's look for a place to hide, and he has spotted their alleyway.
Jaedyn only has time to call out the command to have shadow cords ready to attack when the man jumps through her illusion and shoves Jaedyn against the wall, pressing hand to his mouth.
The man's gaze is intense. He holds a finger to his lips, basically conveying don't fuck with me right now and don't say anything.
Once the man realizes neither one is going to scream or shout, he steps back from Jaedyn and goes to stand next to him. He presses himself so hard against the concrete it looks like he's trying to melt into it.
Jaedyn furrows his eyebrows and is hella confused. While it's not uncommon for people to stumble their way into this alley, this whole encounter has gone off script. Not only did this man see through the illusion, he's also not really interested in hurting them, or asking them for money or drugs. Not even cigarettes.
It's not long after that a group of soldiers walk past they alley, doing a general sweep of the population. This too, isn't uncommon, so most regulars of the undercity know to stay out of the way. However, this then clicks for Jaedyn that this man is a fugitive of some sorts.
This is confirmed when the sirens call for a level four sweep of the city, the highest level there is. Basically: this fugitive is fucked.
Jaedyn doesn't wanna be involved, so he starts employing one of the various strategies he and Morgan came up with to throw off any intruders. He starts asking like what's your plan here dude? Hardly anyone can go undetected in these sweeps? You might as well go out there and surrender.
The fugitive's face is completely blank, as if he didn't even register that Jaedyn had spoken. He then stares point blank at him and is like okay, then can you do me a favor?
I need you to kill me.
*
E/N: Aaaaaaaand that's where I'll stop for here! This is right around where I'm thinking of ending chapter one, so let me know your thoughts! I hope you have a yummy breakfast tomorrow morning, and I'll write again tomorrow! Love you <3

Magic in AetherNet pt. 2: Light and Fire Power Sources
A/N: Hi Hi! My life has finally stopped being chaotic, so I wanted to take a second and talk more about the magic/world of my book, "AetherNet" - I'll pop it below the read more since I've got more time to write today :)
I know I mentioned the different types of power sources, but I didn't go into their specific abilities or anything like that. If you're lost on info, go see part 1!
I realized with my last post that I left some language a little murky, so here are some clear definitions:
Energy = magic
Aether = positive energy
Nether = negative energy
Since there are no "regular humans", the magic that exists in this world isn't seen as something magical. It is an innate thing that everyone has access too in this world! I could go on a whole side rant about how humans evolved in neumans, but I think that is best saved for a different day :)
Also! When a neuman is using their power system, it will light up! Different cores will have different colors to represent what kind of abilities they have.
Let's start with aether powers, and what they can do!
The most common aether power source is a light core. These energy systems will glow a bright white. Most religions believe that these powers were the first "gifted" to humanity; an ideology that can be traced back to the Ole Days. Those with light cores can have one of the following abilities:
production and manipulation of light
healing
For light neumans, it is a rare gift to possess both abilities; thus, they all tend to either do one or the other ability exceptionally well. Unfortunately, this makes it hard to stand out when applying for jobs. Light abilities are specific, and common. Therefore, unless you are a royal or a complete prodigy, a light neuman will have a tough time making themselves known.
When I saw stand out, I mean BIG TIME. The theory that light was the first power source given stands strong with the general public for a reason: not only is there a large disparity of royals with light powers, the ways in which light abilities have been explored are nearly exhausted. Especially light manipulation. Most people can bring their light to extreme temperatures, cast far distances, and coil into various shapes. The only job someone in the working class could realistically get would be working in energy light distribution, and even then you gotta be SPOT ON.
Healing is a bit easier and gives a light neuman more options. Most healers will be able to handle all the basics as a bare minimum, and from there you can expand your abilities to either military work or research. If you go into military, you gain more abilities to heal physical injuries (there have even been some legends who have healed missing limbs or genetic defaults). For research, your abilities would expand into healing the mind, and what lies beyond the physical. And if you're looking for quick fast cash, you can always work the underground drug operations.
The next commonly seen aether power source is a fire core. These energy systems will glow a bright red, and can have the following abilities:
production and manipulation of fire
production and manipulation of lightning
fire adsorption
temperature control
Fire neumans can interchange between abilities easily; it is rare to see someone with only one as a specialty, mostly because that is a job hindrance unless you are amazing at the one skill. Usually working fire neuman end up in military, fire department, or energy production. Even though a fire neuman will likely use one ability over the others in whatever job they pursue, employers will often expect them to have all other abilities on hand.
Like with the military, fire neumans use their production and manipulation of fire abilities the most. However, it is not uncommon for the production of lightning and fire adsorption to be frequently used as well.
Of course, the fire department will use fire adsorption the most, but they will also participate and supervise large fire productions during festivals and large-scale military operations. While they don't often "produce" fire, they certainly do a lot of manipulation.
Those who enter into energy production will use the production of lightning the most, since that is the key ingredient needed for electronics to work. However, they will also do temperature control for the metal wires that conduct electricity so that they remain in optimal condition for as long as possible.
