It does, it seems like yesterday we were all playing together running around in the garden. Of course and please say hello to yours for me. Ah father is currently working on a new invention, a device that processes information on demons so not only will sensor detect demons, but also identify them. Sometimes, although mother usually tells us to stop, she knows how important family is and so often we enjoy training together. Were you ever like that with Will? I will have to look for them, i did enjoy helping looking after them when they were younger, they are so much fun. {smiles}

That you are. [she smiles] Time flies so quickly, doesn’t it? Oh that is good to know. Please extend my hellos to your mother and father. Has Mr. Branwell invented anything new? The device that detects demonic activity he made has been very helpful to me. Does Charles tease you a lot then? [she chuckles] Oh, Paris is as lovely as ever. And yes, the twins are five now. They would be excited to see you, I’m sure. They’re very excited to be back in London. It has been a year since we last came.

I am sure you will bump into one if you are here for long enough, we all seem to have decided to visit just in time for your arrival. I'm sorry i haven't heard the name, although it does sound as if the family you have is pretty great. {smiles}

Oh.. That is quite impressive your time is full of wonderful things. New York seems so different in your time. The buildings all look older and bigger and what is that metal contraption on the road? {takes phone} Thank you. Well that does sound like fun. I'm sure that training is something that is still the same even in your time. A book with pictures we have a few of those in our library {looks at picture} although these are quite different. So much has changed yet i can see so much that is familiar from this time. {Hands back phone} How long ago was the photograph holder invented?

Lightwoods? Yeah, I was told there’d be a few. Though I haven’t ran into any of them. I’d really like to. It’d be nice meeting a few of Mom’s ancestors. Oh, yeah. Mom said their last names were Deiudonne and that they were Shadowhunters who left the Clave to live as Mundanes. 

Uh-huh. [he grins] You don’t actually get pictures out of it, but you can view them. It’s sort of like an album I guess. Here. [he taps his phone and shows the screen to Matthew, showing him photos of New York city] That’s New York. And if you use your thumb to slide the photo to the side, you’ll see the next one. Here, you can take it. [he smiles] Oh, video games are.. games that you play with the use of consoles, or tvs, or portable players. I don’t really know how to describe them. I guess I’ve only just thought of them as video games. They’re one of our main source of entertainment, asides from music and t.v., and of course, training. A comic is.. Well, it’s basically a book with drawings of the characters on it with their dialogues. I think I have a few photos of comic books in there. [he points to his phone]

Thank you {stands a little taller} I am much more grown up than last time we visited you. {smiles back} That is very good to hear. I was thinking the same, it is not often we all get to meet up together, it was a very nice surprise. I am well thank you, and mother and father are as happy as always, when my father is paying attention, {grins} and Charles is as always, fun when he is not teasing. How is Paris? And how are the twins, they must be about five now?

I suppose I am just very surprised to see you. I almost did not recognize you. You’re turning into quite the young man now. [she smiles] Oh I am well, thank you very much for asking. So is my family. How wonderful that we all decided to visit London at the same time. And you? How are you and your family?

Gen hello {grins} Well it has been a few years since i was last here, i guess i was still a kid back then. How are you and your family?

A vampire how very interesting, and no they aren't it is a shame he is still your father. A Lightwood? Have you met many of your ancestors from this day, we have quite a few around here? Ah of course, so your birth parents must be Shadowhunters?

Oh my {peers at phone} You keep photographs in that? Oh yes please, how do i get the pictures out of it? That sounds nice, shopping with your dad, {smiles} although i have no idea what a comic or a video game is.

My dad.. He’s a vampire and, well, you know how Downworlders aren’t really welcomed in Alicante. I guess I should tell you now that I’m adopted seeing as vampires can’t have children. [he chuckles] My adoptive mother is Isabelle Lightwood, and she’s a Shadowhunter. 

Well, not exactly in my pocket. [he places his phone on his palm, showing it to Matthew] Here. This is where we keep our photos. Do you want to take a look? I think I have a few photos of buildings in there, and a couple of this comic book and video game shop dad and I always go to.

Oh yes they are. Why does your Dad not travel to Alicante with your mum? Most probably my parents always talk fondly of that time, they say it was interesting to see what their descendents would become. A movie? I would guess fast food is food served quickly? It sounds like there is a lot to do in your time although we have some bookstores. Oh i would love to see, you keep photos in your pocket?

They must be really nice then. Oh, I’d like to visit more often. Mom goes to Alicante almost every month, but I like to keep my dad company. [he smiles] They have? That’s great, so they know them then. At least I know now that I’ll be able to find a way to get back home. It is interesting. Very, in fact. Everything is so… different. Like something out of a movie. Well, we have plenty of cars, and buildings, and fast food chains. Malls, movie houses, book stores. I don’t really know how to explain it. We have technology. We have the internet, and phones, and computers— Maybe I should just show you a photo? [he digs inside his pocket for his phone]

Yes they do, they are very old family friends of my family. That is a shame it is such a wonderful place, i find when I'm away for too long i am drawn back, and Lake Lyn is just beautiful. Your dad was one of the few that were transported back before, my parents have told me a few stories from that time. It must be so interesting to see the past for you, but what is your future like?

Who are Will and Tessa? Do they run this Institute? Oh I see. I’ve only been to Alicante once, when I was very young. I don’t really remember how it looks. [he smiles] I don’t really know, if I’m being honest. There was this portal and just— The next thing I know, I’m here. My dad told me a story once, about how he and mom and a few others were sent back in time as well. It’s really nice to meet you, too, Matthew.

Oh no don't worry Will and Tessa are lovely, they wont mind at all. Yes we are close to the Hall, near the centre of Alicante. New York hm, i guess that explains your accent. 21st century {Stops walking and turns to look at him} as in the future? That is so cool! What's it like in your time? And how did you get here? Well it's lovely to meet you Max.

Are you sure they wouldn’t mind if you gave me some food? [he follows] Oh, Idris, huh? Do you live near the Accords Hall? My family lives in New York. My mom runs the Institute there. But I’m not talking about the New York that’s a million miles away.. I’m not from around here, you see. I’m from the 21st century. And I’m Max Lightwood. Lewis. Max Lightwood-Lewis.

In that case i should show you to the kitchen {smiles before leading the way} No but my parents ran it a while ago so we come here quite a lot, we live in Idris now. Where does your family live? I don't believe i have seen you before, my name is Matthew Fairchild, what is yours?

I’m not really looking for anything in particular… Well, I guess I’d really like to have something to eat. It’s been hours since my last meal. Do you live in this Institute?

Matthew Granville Fairchild- Son of Charlotte and Henry Branwell

Matt is the second son of Charlotte and Henry.  He was born in December 1886, 8 years after Charles and was a joy to both of his parents. The two were surprised to find out about his arrival but Charlotte easily found time to welcome another son into her life, and Henry was as crazy as ever inventing toys for him. Charles was happy to finally have someone to play with, although like any siblings he would sometimes tease him. Henry would often be oblivious in his own world, but Charlotte would quickly and swiftly put a stop to it.

Matthew loves both of his parents but finds he is closer to Charlotte. When he was a young child, he enjoyed following her around as she worked, pretending that he was her right hand man. He would often sit beside her with a quill and ink writing down his thoughts as she wrote important letters.

Now that he is a little older he has grown out of following his mother around, although he does look up to her believing she is very admiral for achieving so much so young. Sometimes a flash of his father can be seen in him when he is deep in thought, allowing something crazy to escape his mind. With his mother’s success, he works hard to try and be a brilliant Shadowhunter and hopes for a love as great as his parents one day.
