Would you say mlm fetishization is common in the skam fandom? I kinda think it is, reminds me of sherlock, but I wanna know your thoughts!

But yes, fetishization is really common in the Skam + remakes fandom(s) at large. Specifically, a lot of fans have a particular obsession with white, cis gay M/M pairings. Obviously, I think you can enjoy and ship M/M pairings without fetishizing, and I follow a lot of people who do enjoy various Evak pairings. But I think the line is crossed when folks do things like: 

1) Only tuning in for the “gay season” but for some reason don’t give Skam España, Skam Austin, and/or Druck the time of day. Relatedly, complaining that cis white gay characters aren’t the “Isak” (Tyler in Skam Austin) or the “Even” (David in Druck). Continuously and exclusively saying thqt Lucas VDH deserves a season but never saying anything about Shay

2) Disrespecting and dismissing any female character that gets in the proximity of their ship beyond like, super sisterly characters that are obviously in no way a “threat” to your ship, which often also includes blatantly ignoring or dismissing the sexuality of bi/pan characters in this ship 

3) Being obsessive over the sex lives of these pairings which includes: assigning terms/roles to characters like “twink” or “bottom” when you’re not a part of the gay community and have no idea what these words mean, almost exclusively writing/consuming explicit fanfiction, constantly making GIFsets and/or videos of sex scenes, calling characters like, “naughty” and “dirty” babies, etc. (Do I even need to say it but. The Sobbe moaning compilation.)  

4) Relatedly, getting mad when none of these pairings or characters have a bigger role in seasons where they are not the main, which has included calling for them to get clips in their POV, trying to shoehorn them into scenes/situations that make no sense for them to be in, filling the tag with fanservice make-out scenes instead of focusing on the actual main character, etc. (literally this happens every single Sana season.) 

5) Getting defensive when gbtq+ men in real life talk about how the obsession with M/M ships makes them feel uncomfortable, infantalized, and fetishized and/or talk about how explicit sex scenes in shows have made them uncomfortable, often trying to use defenses like “why are you, a MAN trying to silence me, a WOMAN,” “I’m just APPRECIATING this ship,” “idk why you’re shaming me for just enjoying this,” “fiction doesn’t affect reality,” or my personal favorite, “I’m an ALLY” and pretending like shipping is somehow a form of activism 

6) Attempting to turn around conversations about fetishization of M/M pairings by somehow equating what they do to lgbtq+ women shipping and enjoying W/W pairings as if it’s remotely the same thing 

(For the 5 & 6, I say this also because most, not all but def most, M/M fetishizers tend to be cishet women in my experience)

Anyway, these are all things that I’ve seen extensively in the Skam fandom(s) and while this kind of behavior isn’t limited to the Skam fandom(s), it’s definitely present in how a lot of people treat Evak, Elu, Sobbe, Nicotino (I think that’s the ship name), and the cursed ship that is Van Der Stoffles
