Aquinea is utterly destroyed with Halward’s death, even though their relationship was never good. Still, it was a man who was next to her for more than 30 years, that’s more than a half of her entire life, it’s good that Dorian will be around to keep her company. She’d go mad alone.

        For a few seconds, she allowed herself to take off the mask of a perfect         lady and wife, putting on a face of a proud, happy mother, smiling to her          only child. She took him into her warm embrace, when he hugged her.

                      “Ego, filius meus. I’m so proud of you.                                      Come, let’s spend some time, just the                                                  two of us, before your father arrives.”          She said, before letting him go off her arms, but soon after she             did, she put on the mask she was wearing for so many years.

“Dear mother, I do believe growing should be seen as apositive feat, surely here in Tevinter,” he smiled, chuckling, yet enjoying the attention he received, knowing it was only a matter of time until his father would be here to spoil the mood.

He straightened himself, embracing her, then, knowing it wasn’t.. done. Not for full enchanters, not for future Archon’s, to be embracing, hugging their mothers - but he couldn’t help it, he very much had missed her.

“In Tantum Superbis?” he smiled softly, shaking his head. “Full enchanter at the Minrathous circle. Seems my scholarly denial has led to something at last.”

        Her heart, she could swear, missed a bit, when she heard her son’s voice,           calling for her, and when their eyes met, oh, how mesmerised she was.              There he was, standing in front of her, her handsome darling boy.

                   “Look at yourself, all grown up, Dorian. What should                                       I do for you to finally stop growing?”           She joked, letting him kiss her hand, just to slide it up his head, caress                    his cheeks and then tangle her fingers into his raven hair.                                    Maker knows how much she missed him.                              If it was for her, she’d never let him leave her side.

Everything              ought to be perfect that day. His room clean and ready, his favourite meal                for dinner, not a single flaw around the household. Even the weather,                 Aquinea hoped, would be perfect to greet the heir of house Pavus.           In a day like this, many years ago, when Dorian was still a boy, they would        sit in the garden, she pretending to be busy with a book, but for real, watching           her little sunshine run around, play, laugh and have fun, blush of tiredness                   growing on his tan cheecks, of the carnation he took after his father.              And after a day like this, after he fell asleep, she’d lie with him in his             bed, whispering bedtime stories and caressing his raven hair, even           though she shouldn’t. Lost in her thoughts of the past, Lady Thalrassian                 didn’t notice that the person she was waiting for already arrived.

Am I the only one devastated with the headcanon of Aquinea being in love with Livia Arida?

         Of course they didn’t. None of them ever asked for all this to happen.       Neither the Inquisitor, nor her son, nor herself. How strange it was, for      a woman rised around elven slaves, to talk with one of them, like human   to human, of similar position. Or, for perhaps, elf was the one who was higher.

                     “I’m perfectly aware of that, Lord Inquisitor. But, try to                                  understand the view of a grieving mother.                         I didn’t ask the fate to push Dorian to the Inquisition.”           Grieve was not the right word. At last, her boy was not dead, thanks to          all Gods, existand and nonexistant. He was just away, what was causing                                            enough pain for a mother’s heart.

          Oh, how thankful she was to the Maker that he made him stand behind her           back for this short moment, making it impossible for him to see her face.             The real face of a regretting mother, the one she should never make.                        “Such wise words, for such a young man.”            She finally spoke, as soon as she was perfecty sure of the control she           had over her own voice, perfectly sure that it wouldn’t break as soon as              the words would left her throat. Althrough, the skin of her trembling         hands getting paler, fingers squeezed on the material of her dark dress.

          His dark eyes, so similar to her own, she couldn’t bear how he      seamed devastated. The life has never been easy for him, for her boy,      for her own blood and flesh. Oh, how she wanted to take some of this                                               weight off his shoulders.                         “Dorian, my boy, you are back home.”             She said, her heart beating faster, but her voice blank, just as        it always had been, Aquinea was never able to leave the mask of a perfect                                           noblewoman.
