He grinned softly as Mat pulled him in closer. It was weird to think, that really only a few months prior, the Domnant with him wouldn’t dare show such casual affection. But they had progressed much farther than anyone, especially the two of them, could ever imagine. “I will always compliment you, that’s a Rory Flanagan guarantee,” He promised, angling his face up, pouting slightly to let Mat know his lips wanted a kiss too. At his next question, he shrugged. “Yeah, it’s been alright. Certainly the best trip home in a long, long time.”

“Aren’t I lucky?” he commented, meaning the words despite the teasing tone he might have had. It was indeed strange to think how comfortable he felt sitting here, very much in public, cuddling with Rory. Even back when they’d visited his parents which hadn’t been that long ago, he had been far from that comfortable. Perhaps even less so than Florida, actually. He supposed there was something to be said about a strange place filled mostly with people he didn’t know or care about. All he knew that as he leaned in to press a kiss to Rory’s lips, there were no thoughts aside from fond ones occupying his mind. “Thank you for taking me. It’s been really nice -- learning even more about you.”

It was an amazing experience, to be able to see Mat in his home town, wearing layers because a Belfast summer wasn’t anything like the Floridian or Texan weather. Just here in general, holding his hand as they walked along the dock, Rory pointing out all the traditional tourist places, keeping him on the shiny bit of the city before moving towards the dingy end he and Fauna tended to occupy. “The last time I was here, I think I was with Aoife.” He commented offhandedly, sat on a bench with him, overlooking the Titanic museum. “Needless to say, you’re much better, much sexier company.”

Belfast was unlike anything Mat had ever been to and thanks to Rory he’d managed to check off many of the tourist attractions within a short amount of time. But those weren’t the things he was most excited about -- it were the seemingly insignificant places that came with a story to Rory. The place he’d gotten his first job. Where that one friend from school once lived. The tree he fell out of on his birthday one year. Those were the spots he most enjoyed visiting, feeling like he got yet another window into the life of Rory Flanagan. So sitting on the pier, glancing out over the ocean with him by his side was right up his alley. “What a compliment,” he commented, tone amused as he moved the arm he had on the bench behind Rory to pull his head closer, pressing a kiss into his hair. “You’re having a good time so far?”

Everyone fed, and drinks flowing as Tennyson wanted, he spent a while chatting to his various guests, before making his way through his students. There was one particular student here he was focused on. The scholarship Student President, Mateo Weston. The first scholarship recipient of Tennyson’s knowledge to be offered a place in the order, and the professor wanted to make sure he knew just how honoured he was to be here this evening. “Enjoying yourself, Mr. Weston?” He said, clicking his fingers at the waitstaff to bring him another scotch on the rocks, “I notice you don’t have a beverage in your hand. Do you not drink?”

It all still felt very strange. While Mat didn’t like feeling paranoid and much preferred considering the glass half full, he couldn’t quite shake the weird feeling in the back of his head. Glancing around, he’d have to be blind to realize that he was the only non-legacy student invited and a helpful voice in his head supplied that this should probably be enough indication to Get Out. But he wasn’t being paranoid. Glancing up when Tennyson himself showed up beside him, he offered a small smile. “I don’t. Stopped a while ago,” he explained, gaze briefly travelling around their surroundings again. “It’s a nice party.”

Maddie sighed, busted. “Nothings wrong.” She shrugged, and then pulled a face. “Like nothing in particular. I guess I just.. I still feel kinda in between things and it’s annoying me that nothing is really sticking. Like other than you and Mom most of my friends have moved on from home.. and like I just don’t really know what I’m doing with myself most of the time. Other than tormenting you obviously.”

“Who at your age knows for sure what they want to do?” Mat questioned. “I get it, it’s nice to have a goal to work towards but it’s also okay to be in the process of looking for one. And there’s no time limit on that.”

“Mr One Suit,” Rory teased, wrapping his arms around Mat’s waist, and pulling him in close. “Wanna wear my jacket, give you some pizzaz?” @mateoweston​

Mat chuckled lightly at Rory’s words, his hands coming up to tug at the jacket of Rory’s collar in response. “I think you pull it off much better than I would,” he assured, one of his hands slipping up to cup his jaw. “You having a good time?”

DFS are officially on Spotify, fellow Devereuxians. Please get streaming, even if you just have us on mute and on repeat whilst you like, go to class or wank off or whatever. We don’t care what you’re up to, as long as the numbers go up. Hoping to do one more gig before I go back to Ireland for the summer to cause havoc on the best side of the pond. But cheers for all the support of everyone, and no, no merch yet. Finnegan lost the T-Shirt designs.

Maddie wasn’t really sure honestly, she did in fact miss home and her mother. But she wasn’t sure what she would do with a summer alone, most of her friends from high school no longer lived in the city and the ones that remained didn’t really hold that much appeal. “Maybe for a bit.. I might hang around here though.. depends on what my friends are doing.” She explained playing with her hair. “Ireland.. that’s new.” She added to deflect the best that she could. 

Mat hummed absently, shifting to turn and properly look at her. Try as she might, he knew her well enough to detect the uncertainty in her voice. A frown of mild confusion passed over his face. “What’s wrong?”

“Have you thought about summer yet?” The brunette asked, tilting her head back in the sunlight. “Usually I’d figure as our resident nerd that you’d be doing summer classes but Rory doesn’t seem like the type to stay here over the summer.” @mateoweston​

“We’re visiting his family for a bit and I might wanna head home to see mom and David too. I like the classes but I’m all for a healthy work life balance,” he joked, turning his face towards his sister. “You coming home too?”
