♡ Paring: Luther Von Ivory x fem!reader
CW(s): Nothing
Author's note: Okay, technically this is my second fic I've written but I'm not counting the other one for reasons. I could've written better but I kept worrying >:( Anways, I hope this is decent and yeah, I was cussing myself out while writting this. Everyone is probably OOC. I'm probably gonna have to make a part 2 because most of this was literally just exposition😭 I SWEAR it's gonna get to the Luther parts soon, TRUST. Also sorry if there are still grammar problems even after I proofread it. It's late and I'm tired.
Life's been fine. Everything was. Of course you struggled and had your triumphs as most do, but something wasn't right. No, perhaps "not right" weren't the right words but more like something missing. As corny as it sounded, it seemed like a part of you was out there, and as frustrating as it was... not with you. I mean of course you'd feel that way. You had a life but refused to live it.
Tragic.
Maybe that's why you left your home, your friends, your family... and your past. In favor of something more. Which for some reason, meant getting lost in the forest. Not that it really mattered though. If you were gonna die, let it be something memorable.
As you walked, picking up and examining things as you went. You notice a drowsiness washing over you. Did you drink water before you left? Use the bathroom?! Maybe you should've thought this through more. But you could've sworn it wasn't too late when you left, about 4 or 5 maybe? But taking a look at the sky made you realize you had been out here for longer than anticipated.
You decided to rest on a nearby tree. Your throat felt as dry as sandpaper and you feel your mind start to drift off as you begin to lose consciousness. However, not before catching a glimpse of some shiny brown shoes getting closer and closer to you.
When you came to, you realized you weren't in the forest anymore. Rather you were in a house. A rather strange and tacky house. "What.. the hell?" Were the only words that came from your throat. You felt like you had more to say but you couldn't find the words, it didn't matter though since your train of thought got interrupted by someone coming in.
"Oh, you woke up." A young man with curly red hair said. Which you only responded with a tilt of your head and a confused look. He seemed to take note of this as he got closer and handed a glass of water to you. "Here. You were dehydrated." The freckled boy said with a tired yet polite smile.
You took the glass and drank deeply. He just stood there and seemed like he wasn't sure if he should watch you or look somewhere else. So he just kind of kept shifting his gaze awkwardly and fidgeting with whatever he could get his hands on. After finishing the water, you couldn't help but strike of a conversation with him. If not to know where the hell you were, he could be a decent person to converse with. At least he seemd normal enough to not be the one to have kidnapped you. "Ahem, so uhm.... what's going on- I mean, why am I even here?"
He turned his attention back to you, as if not expecting to be talked to. But he spoke up after a second. He gave you a sort of awkward expression that seemed to be mixed with a bit of sympathy as he rubbed the back of his neck with his gloved hand. "Well... about that. It was gonna be a dinner situation again.. but uhhhh, we made sure to really check and... surprise!... you're still alive and um... homeless? So he decided to let you stay with us for a bit."
This made you quirk up a brow. 'He? Who the hell is he??' Sensing your confusion the redhead almost answered but the sound of the front door opening made him jolt a bit. "Fuck..." he muttered under his breath. He quickly took the now empty glass and speed walked to the door. He didn't leave without saying something though.
"Look I wasn't even supposed to be in here. Let's just keep this between us and hopefully... hopefully they don't get too attached." He then gestured to himself and gave you a smile but it seemed to be devoid of any real emotion. "Don't wanna end up like me in this stupid getup." he said with a dry, humorless chuckle and then left, shutting the door.
Weird. But not something to fret over... hopefully. So you laid back down on the bed and shut your eyelids. Maybe you could sleep the confusion off? Though you're not sure how that'd even work.
It only felt like a few seconds had past but the sounds of soft whispering and chattering woke you up. You opened your eyes and sat up instantly and to your surprise, there was people standing around the room you rested in. "What the f-" You get interrupted by a yell of a dorky looking boy with glasses and unruly hair.
"Big brother! She's awake!" he exclaimed while pointing a gloved hand at you. This made the tall man with a bob standing near the window snap his head to you. He walked over and crossed his arms. "Oh, I was wondering when you'd wake up." he tilts his head to an almost unnatural degree as he continues.
"I thought I miscalculated for a second." You must have been giving him a look because he then adds on to his words. "I found you in the woods," He then straightened his posture and smiled?... You weren't really sure what to call it but you knew it was unsettling. Though, maybe it was his way of seeming friendly?
"I couldn't just leave you there to die alone. That would be cruel." To this, you just nodded. "Uhm, right. So like.... ughm..." you cover your mouth with your hand, muffling what you were gonna say. Which was nothing. What the hell would you even say?
"In any case, dinner is almost ready. I'll call you down when it is." The tall man then leaves. Leaving only you and his brother. He just stared at you as if waiting for you to do something. Like some sort of animal. You clear your throat. "Uh, can I hel-" you get cut off by him suddenly pulling up a porcelain doll from god knows where and shoving it right in your face.
"HEY SO YOU WANNA LOOK AT MY DOLL COLLECTION WITH ME?" His sudden change in volume caught you off guard and made you fall back a bit. "Um, no-"
It didn't matter, because now you find yourself in his room looking at all 70,456 dolls. Though you doubt that was the number. There was probably more but you've looked at so many that their faces blended together. Meanwhile the boy kept going on and on. He seems really into it and you had to admit, it was a bit endearing. Though thankfully Luther called you both down for dinner.
When everyone was seated, you just sat there sticking out like a sore thumb. It was a little awkward and the "food" that was served was... questionable but edible. You weren't gonna complain.
After dinner, everyone kind of did their own thing but you decided to help him with the dishes. As you washed the dishes and he dried them, you couldn't help but be fascinated with him. So of course you speak up. "So uhm... you thought I was homeless?" This made Luther pause and look at you. "Are you not?"
"Well, not.... really? I mean, yes technically I did all the stuff so no I don't live in that place anymore and don't currently have a place to live because I was kinda betting I'd be a drifter... uhm, yeah." you feel yourself get a bit red from the explanation you gave. Damn you guess you're homeless.
You sigh and shake your head dismissively. "Agh, but that doesn't matter." you hand the last plate to him and for a brief moment, both your hands touch. It felt strange, but in a good way. Like a electric spark coursed through you both. So you couldn't help but get a little flushed.
"Ah, sorry-" The both of you say at the same time. But then you kinda just pause and stare at each other. His unblinking eyes that were previously unnerving seemed kind of charming now. You would get more into detail about your new forming thoughts about him but the sounds of water overflowing caught your attention as you frantically turned the sink off and dealt with the issue.
Meanwhile Luther just watched you. From what you could see from your peripheral, he was just standing there stiffly. As if lost in his own thoughts. Though as quickly as you took note he snapped out of it and helped you out.
Oh, you could just tell.... these coming days with this family would be long but never boring. How fun.
