happy fat xie lian friday!!!

today's fat gege thoughts are inspired from a comment on my fic. hua cheng would looove the term lovehandles! post-canon xie lian gaining weight and getting a soft belly and fat on his hips that hua cheng kneads like a cat. his sides are so good for biting! and there's so much more to grab when they're making love! yes, those handles are made from and for his love for gege! soft and squeezable with stretchmarks that hua cheng traces his fingers lovingly over to count each one. and when xie lian sits down and his hips are accentuated? his husband is on the floor begging for just a little taste.

To understand how everyone feels about shen yuan you have to think of him as a beloved neighbourhood cat. Everyone loves him. If you can get him to sit next to you for a few minutes, you have the right to tell everyone around while they glare at you in jealousy. If he scratches someone, everyone will agree they must have done something wrong to deserve that, because our cat is so sweet and lovely. If you say you don't like him, everyone hates you because what sick fuck doesn't like cute cats?

So you can imagine when someone (binghe) takes the cat that should belong to everyone and decides its going to be HIS own now. The entire neighbourhood would be up in arms. Shen Yuan is EVERYONES cat and they demand he's let back out so they can occasionally get ten seconds to pet it.

But then something terrible happens: the cat decides it likes binghe and wants to stay inside his house. Even when everyone holds the door wide open and tries to lure him out with treats, he ignores it and jumps onto binghes lap. Everyone is devastated. Their cat CHOSE to be with the guy who stole him away from them.

There's nothing they can do other than randomly barge into the cats new home every now and then, pathetically hoping for a bit of his attention while annoying the cats new owner.

That's shen yuan.

I was hearing notre dame from Paris Paloma and it always gets me crazy about how this song connects with the character that Jun Wu is. LET ME EXPLAIN MY THOUGHTS:

Here Jun Wu starts talking about how alone he is in the stone palace he built in the heavens. It's cold and lonely, but it's his.

And from up there he has the perfect view of all the other gods in the heavens. From up there he can see everyone and no one can see him.

He says that he's not a sadist, it's not that he enjoys seeing everyone in their worst state (he does), it's because he likes being in power, being on top. He being up there, no one can hurt him, no one can judge him. He is exiled, and from up there he makes a house where he can see everything.

He sees the flaws, the defects, the bad things, everything and so he doesn't feel so miserable. It's not just him that's a scum, and in his view he wasn't to blame for anything, he's better than them.

He doesn't think he's guilty of anything. That's why he goes after Xie Lian, he wants someone to go through the same things as him so someone can understand how he feels, so he doesn't feel so alone, and so he doesn't feel so miserable about his own failures.

Because anyone would react like him if they were in his situation, right? He doesn't feel guilty about anything, he does everything to put the blame on someone else when in fact he became that way by his own decisions.

He does what he does with Xie Lian not only because he wants someone to understand him, but he also wants to prove to someone (some higher being, humanity, anyone) that he was not at fault, that he was just the product of a lot of shit that happened to him.

But he is to blame. He becomes so desperate that he asks Xie Lian several times: "are you going to change?"

And he won't, because it's his choice, he chose not to fall into disgrace, and that makes Jun Wu hate him because it shows how Jun Wu was at fault.

And here Jun Wu talks about how he feels holy, sacred, but not human. He doesn't feel human, he doesn't feel like he belongs there. They all seem human with flaws and qualities (mostly flaws), but he's just a hollow shell trying to prove that he's not so miserable (he is).

Humans (mortals, gods and ghosts) turn to a higher being/power when they feel desperate, afraid. There is no one up there who can help them.

Just Jun Wu. But he won't help. Because he doesn't belong there.

YES!!!!

Like, Jun Wu wanted someone to understand him, both so he wouldn't feel so alone and miserable and to prove (to himself and to anyone who asked) that he wasn't to blame. Jun Wu doesn't accept that he was at fault, he seems to think that he is just a product of several events, that it was inevitable that he became insane and cruel like that. That he just learned that being cruel in a cruel world is just... what it is.

But Xie Lian doesn't give in. Even though he goes through all that, he doesn't change. It is the courage to not become cruel after suffering cruelty. The first time I read it I didn't understand why Xie Lian kind of leaves Jun Wu alone, like "won't you get some kind of revenge? After all he made you go through?", but that wasn't it. It was the breaking of a cycle of abuse.

Xie Lian was abused but he didn't give in, he didn't became the abuser like Jun Wu.

I don't know if I make sense (since English is not my first language) BUT I DO HAVE AN ANALYSIS ABOUT THIS.

I'm a liiitle obsessed with the complexity of their relationship and about the characters alone :)

i just realized that xie lian revenge was to not become like that, doesn't matter how much he suffered and struggled, he never became like that, and that's the best revenge
