The first draft of an invoice is generally not perfect. Mistakes happen and the customer doesn t always remember what exactly he s saying. In many cases, invoices will have to be updated several times before they are finally ready for its recipient. The best (and clearer!) the invoice, the more likely you are to remember it later. Let us begin with a very simple example, a simple network input/output device. Here, we will assume that there is a single interface (I/O), this device will simply generate I/O traffic to any number of internal software programs. Once you have a simple network input device (or 'client device'), your job is to write an invoice generator, a program that will process the data your client device is providing, capturing it into some kind of information format. Your invoice generator will then convert this data into a more human format, into a format that both humans and machines can read. Now lets move on to some less simple examples. If you are using an inventory management system (IMS), you will need to write an invoice generation program that captures basic information about your inventory.
