I was asked this month if I could make an official animated music video for Rock For Children in ten days, I said yes and now the video is released and you can watch it!!!! 馃挅
This was a blast to make. I was allowed to have total creative control on the video as part of the trade-off with the tight deadline, which I used to try stuffing in as much as possible within ten days. It turned into a video that I think carries a lot of the same spirit as the stuff I made back in those "good ol' days", where it was just me making a music video by myself, using Flash/Animate, with no team or people to manage. and doing it all really, really quickly.
I wouldn't want to make a habit of producing film like that anymore because that's a lot to put on yourself if you're not careful, but it was fun to get to do it again for a moment.
Also still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I got to officially draw and animate Alice Cooper in my art style. what a world.

Episode 4 OST
OH LORD what a monster this one was. Originally we were going to do the hybrid animatic style but after getting a good half of the ep done and watching back I personally didn't like how it ended up looking so I decided to knuckle down for an additional 3-4 months to get it fully animated.
It nearly killed me.
I hope you enjoy this cliff hanger episode.
Ash & I are already getting ep 5 set up. It's gonna take a while before we can start the ball rolling though, so I appreciate the patience from you folks!
KARA plush is live!
We have new shirts and various other goodies in our fourthwall store!
Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna go into a coma for the remainder of the year.

Here's most of my backgrounds for the lovely short film Garage Sale!
You can watch the film here:
youtube
I've spent almost all of my animation career being brought on to help with either animation or storyboarding, so when @ragtagstuff reached out and asked if I could instead help lead the charge with establishing the backgrounds, it was too cool to pass up!
The idea that I remember proposing (this was a couple years ago now so I could be wrong here lol) was to take a color thumb that I think @deadlycomics drew earlier for the project and make its color choices run through the entire film, and I later set up a style guide to help make it easier for others to match the look.
I still love the end results that everyone turned in, and how well it comes together to capture its idea of a dreamy, hazy summer/early autumn's evening. Most of the backgrounds I made were focused on the all-important garage sale itself, there was more than enough junk valuable trinkets to draw for it that kept me busy at the time. xP
Anyway this is all a long-winded way to say that I'm so absolutely pumped that someone who was making an animated film wanted my help in backgrounds instead of animation/storyboards. I love being thrown curveballs like that, it means the world to me. 馃挅

Been working on a few animation tests for some of the series concepts I've quietly built up over the years, including this one featuring characters from a project I was making back in 2014-15. it's nice to finally see Izzy and Ergo moving after a decade.
Might also explore making more stuff in this crunchy style, it was fun booting up my old copy of Flash CS5.5 to make these lol

who could forget this classic Rayman moment where he says a bunch of words that I would never say??
(voice provided by the amazing saltydkdan)
I wanted a new piece for my demo reel that wasn't tied up in NDAs, was a little different from my usual output and would continue to help me feel more comfortable drawing roughs in Toon Boom Harmony, so I made this over a couple weekends. I also really loved the suits made for Captain Laserhawk that were scrapped and I wanted to see at least one of them in action really really badly cuz it looked so cool, I mean just look at these suits:
beautiful, perfect
My one regret with this is that I couldn't find a good moment to have him comb his hair back to match the model better, but since this is already pretty packed with acting I think the omission is fine.
anyway Rayman is still lots of fun to animate even years later. he truly is timeless. <3
