On a day like today ...

....in 1993 the most beautiful and unimaginable miracle happened in my life - my baby girl, Jacqueline was born. She was my third, and as I had planned, my last baby. Carrying her to full term was not easy. Hence, my decision to not have anymore children. I was told through my whole pregnancy that she might not make it to full term. Bed ridden for a couple of months during my second trimester and, the icing on the cake, she was, after several ultrasounds, a "he" and I had so desperately prayed for a girl. But life would have its way and surprise me at the moment of birth with a beautiful 9lbs., 10oz baby girl. I almost went into eternal shock when the doctor lifted her from my chest revealing a gender I was not expecting. If it wasn't because I had just pushed her out of my womb, I would have sworn that she was brought out of nowhere and placed on my chest to drown my heart in an obscene amount of joy. Twenty-two years later I can tell you that it has not been all pretty flowers and rainbows. It has been a ride unlike any other. She has given me my share of sweet tears of joy and my share of salty painful tears. She has tested my patience, strength, determination and yes, even my love (parents do go through that moment where you thank the hire power for biologically programing you to love your children because else, you just might be in jail for sending them back to where they came from!) just because we love them it does not mean that we like them half the time especially, in the teen years. She has made me look at her in awe of her sweetness, kindness and purity. But she has also made give her the look of utter disappointment, dismay and sadness. She has given me the greatest joy through my two grand babies. She has thought me to think before I speak, hold her tight despite her mistakes, and love her no matter how rough the times may be. Shes not perfect she's just who she is and who she is holds my heart captive till the day I die.
