Yeah, the Knight of Dawn is only shown from Lilia's perspective which can fall into unreliable narrator territory, so who can really say what the guy was like other than the one memory where he lets Lilia, Baur, and the egg go. Lilia might not have even seen the guy outside of that incident so who can say how his memories put together his character. The dream narrative muddles everything in regards to that history.

This is a personal statement from Anon. I have nothing to add here because we talk about missed opportunities around here a lot.

THIRD: (A different subject, so perhaps a different Anon)

If you think it doesn't make sense for Yuu to be feminine in appearance, then that's your opinion and you are allowed to have it. Much of the fandom believes in the self-insert powers given to them as the MC so "Yuu" can technically be whatever they want it to be and can come up with whatever justification they want to because that's the point of leaving the character as a blank slate. No, it's no inherently misogynistic to say that female presenting Yuus don't mesh with how you view the idea of NRC, but they are validated by the concept of the game and story. It is a fantasy and a very malleable one at that.

FOURTH: (Back to form)

More missed opportunities. They could have done a lot more in favor of exploring all of the various relationships between the four main Diasomnia students, but they focused more on Silver and Malleus' conflict at the end and how it mirrors their parents as opposed to how it affected them personally.

I'm never gonna shut up about Enma Yuuken as the perfect Male MC in a game about pretty boys.

Y'all don't understand how REVOLUTIONARY this high school boy is. As I previously bitched about before, so many Male MCs I see in game have such twink like men. Genshin, Honkai, ZZZ, WuWa, those fucking Male MCs just look like twinks. (LOL, I could only think of these games because I'm playing honkai, and I bitched about them too).

As we all know, there are fans that ship the Male MCs with the other men. And what position do these Male MCs take?

Putting the fan girls aside, what I love about Enma Yuuken is that he is a boy we haven't seen enough in media like this. Twisted Wonderland has so many pretty boys that are geared towards females who play the game. What I notice about it is how the game teases that there can be potential romance. Thus, players (who are talented in art) draw their MC female.

There's nothing wrong with that. Let me be clear. But when it's a Male, fuck it, let's make him a short ass twink that even Epel can top him. If that's what you like, go ahead.

But I'm sick of that and I'm thankful that Yuuken exists. Not only to deter the fan girls who make any Male MC bottom, but it can also help bring more attention to the story of Twisted Wonderland. Yuuken is not a pretty boy. He's not short. He's not younger than the other students. He's a senpai in his world. He is also athletic, has muscles, and did I say, TALL. He towers over Ace and Duce, he towers over a lot of the main cast. That is what I want.

Hi Miss Raven! Do you know why the city in Vil’s hometown is called Maquillaville? The other hometown names have all made sense but this one is tripping me up in terms of its origin.

The word "Maquillage" itself sounds like a location too! The "illage" in it almost looks like "village" (except Maquillaville is a city, which is much larger than a village). But yes, it is localized as Maquillaville because "maquillage" means makeup, and Maquillaville is a place known for its luxury goods, which includes makeup. It could also be a reference to “maquiller”, the French word that refers to putting on makeup. The city name basically means "Makeupville". Twst tends to be very on-the-nose with its location names, so I guess none of us should be surprised by this 😂

While we're on the topic of names, let's compare the EN name to the JP one! In JP, the place is written in English as "Fairest City". However, the kanji is 美粧の街 (bishō no machi), which can read as "City of Beauty" or "Beautiful City". If we want to get really literal, it can also be "Beautiful Makeup City” or “Beautification City". This is because 美 means beauty, but 粧 means cosmetics/makeup. Arranged together, 美粧 can refer to beauty in general, a beautiful appearance or features, the act of beautification, etc. depending on the context.

Fun fact for you: there's a Japanese makeup brand (under the Shiseido umbrella) named MAQuillAGE!

Yumi: It's a pretty complicated task, after all, saving people, fighting villains, while you also have a busy civilian life ends up being a headache.

2. How popular are you in MagiKey rankings?

Yumi: I'm not at the top, but I'm in a good ranking

3. Which MagiKey would you rather have than your own

Yumi: What key would I like to have if I hadn't gotten mine? I never thought much about it but the key and obsidian ( @danika-redgrave124 ) abilities are super cool

4. Why did you become a MagiKey user?

Yumi: It was an accident, but there was no going back, and it's actually a fun job, although things can get a bit chaotic.

5. How long have you been in MagiKey

Yumi: I'm still a newbie, I'm a MagiKey user, I've been using it for at least a little over 6 months

6. What is their motivation to keep being a magical user?

she continues, because even though she does little compared to other MagiKey users, she is still helping others in some way

7. How are they usually in a battle?

Yumi may seem a bit impulsive, but she always has a plan in mind. In battle, Yumi has two different styles of fighting: spells and melee. Yumi mainly uses the Cherry Grove spell to move around the battlefield, appearing and disappearing from the enemies' sight, catching them by surprise, punching them or using her staff to hit them. The Cherry Labyrinth is used as a last resort, as it requires a lot of energy, while the Spring Princess's Cradle is a healing spell that Yumi uses on civilians and other MagiKey users who have been injured during the fight.

8. How are their daily lives?

Yumi's daily life is quite common, she studies, takes courses, and also needs to act as a mediator in her brothers' fights, being the youngest of seven brothers is not an easy task

9. What is their opinion on other MagiKey users in general?

Yumi divides MagiKey users into three groups: friends, acquaintances, and pests. Although the latter is reserved for the Deep Blue Sea, Yumi gets along with most of the MagiKey users, but she and the Deep Blue Sea hate each other. Because of their constant fights, new rules have been added to the rulebook. The two must stay at least three meters away from each other, and whenever they are in the same place, there must be at least one teacher.

Is it bad that I hate Ace, Azul, and Jamil's outfits for Tapis Rouge? There's too much beige and there's no balance in it. I think seeing their outfits killed whatever enjoyment I was gonna get out of the event, like Vil, you could've picked something else.

Vil’s Luxe Couture outfit is modeled after that of the Fairest Queen! The other three’s outfits are modeled after the Huntsman (who is portrayed to be her loyal servant, not a traitor, in Twisted Wonderland)—which is why Ace, Azul, and Jamil are mostly in beige. This is also where the jewel-tone red and green accents come from.

These roles are also reflected by the characters’ jobs for the film festival. Vil is meant to be a celebrity present to promote the movie, while the rest of us are his supportive entourage, there to touch up his makeup and keep reporters and fans at bay. If Ace, Azul, and Jamil were dressed any differently, it might throw off that intended effect of being loyal supporters (in a case where they dress more like some other Snow White character) and/or take attention away from Vil (in a case where they dress similarly to him).

Not every outfit will appeal to every person, and that’s alright! Maybe you’ll find other things to enjoy about this event. They do hit up some interesting places and meet someone later. There’s also some rhythmics/twistunes which are fun!

Updated Ortho Facts Part 19: Ortho's Abilities (pt5)

Ortho accesses Idia's tablet remotely in an attempt to escape from Malleus' domain, but there are limitations: he can only connect for a few hours a day given the low number of usable communications satellites, and he can move at barely a tenth of the speed he gets on 4G networks. 

The transfer is also extremely risky, with the threat of Ortho becoming stranded in space between the island and the satellite, or between the satellite and STYX.

As the only one capable of escaping Malleus’ barrier Ortho decides to take the risk, fulfilling a dream that Idia had for him back when he was first designed (and Ortho is certain to point this out, later on).

He succeeds and describes this as his equivalent of unique magic, saying, “I'm not a mage, so I can't acquire a signature spell or anything like that…but using a satellite, I can move my mind and soul over radio waves to another gear.”

Malleus describes this as the ability to make his will depart his body like a ghost and enter other vessels.

When Ortho infiltrates Idia’s dream in his Cerberus gear and Malleus asks how he managed it Ortho responds, “Does a ghost need to explain how they're able to shift between planes and dimensions?”

This is an interesting parallel for Ortho himself to make, as he has said that he is “not a fan of ghosts in general” and it seems they have mocked him in the past, possibly for being a body without a soul as compared to their souls without bodies.

Now that all the videos and songs from the Blazing Jewel event are out, what were your favorites? Which dorm had the best songs and which one did you like the least? If you had to write a list, would you write a top list?

I think the dorm songs sound alright, but none are super standout. So far, nothing has managed to overtake the earworm that is Piece of My World.

Here's how I rank them:

Savanaclaw's DIADEM / Ignihyde's Unmatched Aeon / Scarabia's Far-Out - Pretty catchy.

Octavinelle's Entanglement / Heartslabyul's Obedience / Pomefiore's La Volonté - I like the instrumentals more than when they actually start singing.

Diasomnia's Arbitrary Natural Calamity - Instrumental sounds too grim and harsh. All the resonance makes it hard for me to parse and understand the lyrics.

Vil’s Eldritch Design

Okay, I can’t draw at all but I can show you some inspiration for what I think they would look like in the eldritch AU.(The first picture belongs to leslegendesdazcor on Instagram. The rest of the photos I got on Pinterest.

Some of the basic ideas that a I’ve had with Vil’s design consist of: He would have multiple arms(that are like looking at constellations), I do imagine that he would wear something more elaborate but I couldn’t find anything that I really liked, the head would be made up of the mask with this purple ink like substance dripping out of it, also I’ve thought of having some sort of poison plant covering him like Belladonna. This is only what Yuu(who I’m giving another name for this AU) can comprehend. Also with the names in this AU will be different for the boys(minus the staff and Grim) will be different. There will be titles of sorts that Yuu and the staff will call them by. For Vil I thought of Yuu calling him The Poisoned One.
