Un peu, beaucoup, à la folie… 🌻 Not So Still Life
Oil on Stretched Canvas 67x77cm
The idea for this work arose while looking at Still Life paintings (Nature Morte in French which literally means dead nature). It is ironic as the subject are neither still or dead.
Often Flowers - and sometimes insects- are represented, but what is so still about these? Flowers have a life and that’s also what’s ao beautiful about them.
With the fallen petal, I wanted to emphasise this notion of time. That representation only allows us to capture a moment in time, but things always come and go ✨
Every time I paint a flower I have this beautiful quote in mind, “I paint flowers so they will not die” 🌸
