writing conclusions in papers is like the stupidest thing ever though like what’s the point of dedicating an entire paragraph to “so yeah i know you just read my paper but this is a summarization of what you read in case you need to be reminded about what you just read” like why can’t the paper just end

Your professor will not be happy with you if he says the Stanford Prison Experiment shows human nature and you say it shows the nature of white middle class college-aged boys.
Like he will not be happy at all.

I do really wish, in YA books, that we could have multiple female protagonists who don’t look down on each other. Can we, for once, have a protagonist who isn’t the epitome of goodness and who doesn’t condescend towards any other girl who behaves differently than her?
Can we have actual female friendships, that are portrayed as being just as important (if not more) than romantic relationships? Even in stories where the main couple isn’t straight, it’s framed as though romance is always more important than platonic relationships.
Could we finally get a protagonist treating her friends like they’re actually fucking important to her, and not using them as pawns or tools? That’s fine if it’s portrayed as a legitimate character flaw, but it isn’t. In Throne of Glass, Aelin only starts treating other girls like actual people when they bow down to her and say she’s the best-queen-who-ever-lived-ever.
This is so frustrating to me, because all these tropes are so prevalent. You’re lucky if you can find a book with one positive female relationship, let alone more than two. This needs to change.
(This ended up being kind of ranty, ignore this.)

Whenever I come across a trainee in customer service (like a cashier, or a sales rep), there is usually a senior/experienced employee with them doing the training and they always apologise for the trainee. “Sorry, they’re learning.” And I always respond with, “That’s good! We all have to learn.”
Even when I got a new phone and had to wait five hours for them to process the purchase (it was on a contract so there were a lot of forms and regulatory steps to finalise), when the trainee went to the back and I was alone with the store manager, I made a point in how impressed I was with the trainee’s performance. The relief on her face was prudent and they were extremely grateful for my patience.
We don’t discourage children from learning. We don’t lambast them when they can’t perform a task that an experienced person can do. Humans aren’t born with the inherent ability to work a credit card facility. We are born to learn and develop skills that help ourselves and each other.
The only decent thing we can do is be patient and encourage each other to become the best at what we do.

In all honesty, the whole college thing is overrated. Professors can’t tell which kids are going to end up on broadway or not. That’s up to the directors. I mean look at Laura Osnes and Kyle Dean Massey, they went to ‘nobody’ schools because they weren’t accepted anywhere because colleges didn’t think they were 'good enough’ but they’re huge stars on broadway now. it really doesn’t matter which school you go to, as long as you keep your overall goal in mind, which is to be a performer.
