Time for a book update. As of now, I have written over forty and sum chapters, with what I believe will be an additional 10-15 or so chapters until the story is complete. Here’s what’s been going on!

I have been writing for a very long time. I can say with absolute certainty, that I am a stickler for details. I try to write as many details as I can to fully capture a scene, and that is probably what is going to make finishing this book take longer.

For some writers, naming a character is hardly a difficult task. But there is a difference in naming one character than naming over a hundred.

I had to sit with a round of names until I landed on one that felt right for my main character. When it came to her, I had no issues in finding a satisfactory name. It was eloquent, simple, and beautiful. Those were the key themes I was looking for when it came to her. It was only after the story expanded, and more people became key aspects of the book that I hit a road bump. So, I had to utilize tools to help me.

Please note that I only read Fourth Wing and it was a longer while ago so it's mostly drawing from memory with small bits supplemented by wiki. I know there is character progression in the series, but I don't own the books and I'm not in position to get them right now so anything beyond Fourth Wing will have to wait for later date 🫀

It was three sketchbooks that lead to my book. After years of pondering what to do, I started drawing and writing.

There was a period after college when I had no idea what I was going to do for the rest of my life. This is a crisis that millions of people have faced, and I truly had no idea how I was going to find a job with my bachelor’s degree in art. Ultimately, I went back to my roots and found myself a part time job that pays well and I live with supportive family. I am at least fortunate on that front, but that can only last for so long. In the time after college, I had time to spare and plenty of it to think about what I could do.

Choosing a title for your book isn’t as easy as it seems. There’s so much to consider, and it can be difficult to land on just the right name. Here’s how I did it.

It was hard picking a name in the beginning. There are so many novels out there in the mainstream that have a chokehold on millions of readers, showcasing how powerful a book title can really be. But there was always one question I had for myself; do I want it to be catchy or do I want it to be meaningful? There’s a slippery slope to this, and one that can lead to a lot of pointless word play when drafting a title. So, of course, I did some research.
