Heights: Is your muse a risk-taker?

Yes? I'm not really sure, honestly. Vic doesn't go out of his way to seek risks to take, but he's willing to take one when presented if it means following his heart. Deciding to go against his father's wishes for an arranged marriage when he was younger was a risk. Leaving The Aegis and the Yi family was a huge risk. They were worth it, though, because it meant staying true to his heart.

jiyong scoffed and pressed call. the assassin had many strengths, but emotional support wasn’t one of them. it didn’t take long for the senior medic to pick up his call and the sound of his voice immediately eased his nerves—as it always did. “i’m sorry for calling you this late,” he started, “but i needed to talk to someone. just… about life, about everything that’s been happening recently, and— and about the aegis.” a chuckle fell from his lips. “i’m sorry,” he apologized again, “i don’t even know where to begin, if i’m honest. i wanted to talk to you about this face to face, but i didn’t want to just show up at your house at this hour in case you were asleep.”

The older mage shifted in his seat, curling his legs beneath him as Jiyong’s voice rang out. Hearing the young medic’s voice always brought a sense of calm to Vic. A sense of serenity and warmth, a small comfort that he was always thankful for. Even with the voice held a lilt of concern etched in the edges. 

“Jiji... you know you never need to apologize for calling late, especially if you need to talk. You know the deal, you need me, I’m there.” the words came easy, reassurance coming off in waves, “That extends to coming over, too. You need to talk, you can show up at 3am for all I care. You wanna come over? I can put some tea on so it’s ready by the time you get here.” 

Because that’s how Vic operated. Already, even without hearing the other’s response, his body was moving. His legs carried him swiftly to the kitchen, his arms opened cabinets and his hands pulled out things he knew were comforts to the younger. Jiyong’s mug (because of course, everyone has a very special mug that’s just for them) was placed on the counter, and Vic’s mind was already trying to figure out if he had enough time to throw some cinnamon rolls or something in the oven-

The... conversational topic hadn’t been lost on Vic. Quite the opposite, in fact. It rang out in his ear, clear as day, and if anything it even further spurred his actions. The Aegis. It wasn’t uncommon to talk about. They were family, after all. Family to Victor, at least. To Yi Joon. But a lot had happened in the last few weeks, and Jiyong, his sweet, strong little snapdragon, had found himself in the midst of it all. Vic had to imagine it was just about getting to him, and that is not a conversation had over the phone.

Victor had a routine. 

Finish up his day at the infirmary, pick up Yeona from school, help her with her homework if she needed it, a magic lesson if the little one seemed up to it, and then he’d let his little one run off to her room to read, play, or talk to her plants (generally the latter) while he cooked dinner for them. After dinner it was time for a bath, and after a bath, it was time for a story or a lullaby, the snuggliest of tucks into bed, and kisses on the forehead as he put his little one to sleep. It was that point at night that Victor was left to his own devices, and his own thoughts. 

Most nights he would entertain his thoughts with tending to his plants, spell work, meditation, or the maintenance of his altars to his deities. Most nights, Victor might pick up a book and read, or perhaps even turn on the television to see what was on the History Channel. Some nights, much like this one, his phone would buzz incessantly with notifications from the kids being rowdy in the groupchat. 

What didn’t generally happen, though, was a phone call from Jiyong. 

Without any hesitation Victor answered the phone, shutting off the TV to give his boy Jiyong his undivided attention. 

“Jiyong, is everything okay? It’s not like you to call so late. What’s up, kiddo?” his deep voice spoke out, concern and comfort rolling off like a weighted blanket as soon as he answered the call.

I’ve always been a morning person. Not to say that I don’t go to sleep around Midnight anyways, but I generally always rise with the sun. Or at the very least with my daughter’s alarms for school.

Sorry to bore ya, but I don’t have one. Haven’t even thought about dating in years. If it’s not my wife, I don’t want it. I know she’d want me to move on and find someone, but... I just can’t see myself ever feeling the way I felt about Jinhee for anyone else.

🗽: who's your role model? or what qualities do you think are looking-up-to worthy?

Yeona, as silly as it may sound. She’s the kindest heart I know. She’s filled to the brim with love, laughter, and patience. She reminds me daily what it means to find joy in the little things, to laugh often, and forgive often. Sometimes, when I’m stressed and I don’t want to deal with things anymore, I find myself thinking “What would Yeona do? What would she say right now?” and nine times out of ten, the answer would be she’d forgive, smile, and move on. I think I need that reminder, sometimes.

As a pagan, I worship different deities from various pantheons. I call upon them and others for strength, clarity, and aid in my spellwork. Of course, like many practitioners, I work with deities quite closely. The Goddess Brigid is my Patroness, and Apollo is my Patron God. I also work with Hades and Persephone from time to time, but I mostly just devote shrine space to them. And naturally, I have a very close relationship with Hecate, and she often aids my protection rituals. I consider myself very blessed and fortunate to have the favor of three deities guiding me and protecting me.

🌆: do you get homesick easily?

It depends on what one means by homesick. His childhood home? Or his place in The Aegis? Absolutely not. That which binds him to his past is in the past, and he misses nothing but his siblings. If you’re talking about his home now? He never truly leaves it enough to be homesick, and even then, a house is merely a place. His home is with Yeona, and he’s never away from her for too long, but when they’re apart, he misses her sorely.

It’s one of the most beautiful blessings one can be given in this life. To love and be loved in return is a treasure no one should ever take for granted. I was lucky enough to find the love of my life at a young age. To have been able to marry her, and have two children with her was the Goddess’ greatest gift to me. I know Jinhee and Sena are looking on us with nothing bu love in their hearts, and when Yeona and I call upon our ancestors, they’re the very first we invoke for love and strength. Even if a person passes on, the gift of love is one that never dies.
