Crane Wives Legacy Challenge

Are you obsessed with Crane Wives and are being held hostage by the Sims 4 and want a challenge that forces you to use the packs you may have not touched before? If so, this is the challenge for you!

This was originally made because my friend and I wanted to do a Sims 4 legacy challenge and we are both obsessed with Crane Wives. Special thanks to them for helping create this as well.

Welcome to Crane Wives Legacy Challenge! This is a 10 generation challenge currently but I have 2 “optional” generations that you can choose to include or ignore (focused on occult types).

Fan created, by fans for fans. Not sure how many other fans fit this niche but if I already made it I might as well share it. If you just like the Sims 4 and want to try give Crane Wives a listen, they own my soul.

First time creating a legacy challenge, so if anything doesn’t quite work you know why.

I did not limit myself on packs at all (mainly because I just got the packs and this is my excuse to actually play the content in them) so if you don’t have access to content of a certain pack feel free to change it based on what you think would be interesting for the song.

Heirs + Spouses can be any gender

As a lot of Crane Wives songs have morally questionable “speakers” and/or deal with complex feelings most of the sims vary from ok person trying their best to just a bad person. If you’re the type of player who only wants good things for your sims this may not be the challenge for you and that's ok. Personally, I like torturing my sims so.. Also the generations are not straightforward song interpretations and are built within the very strict limitations of what the Sims 4 allows players to do.

Side note, just because one of the sims does something bad doesn’t mean I as the creator think their actions are “good” nor condone them. Not sure if this statement is 100% necessary but just to be clear.

Gen 1: Nobody

Nobody will ever love you like I do.. Your “love” isn't tender, actually it hurts others a lot but that's what makes it touching to you and you would do anything to keep this toxic cycle going. Yes we are playing as the toxic gf.

Traits: Erratic , Hot Headed, Romantic

Aspiration: Villainous Valentine

Skills: Charisma & Writing

Career: Writer or Style Influencer: Stylist

Start with a couple or immediately get married to someone before working on aspiration

Live in Forgotten Hollow

Treat spouse badly but not badly enough to get divorce

Complete Villainous Valentine aspiration

Master Charisma and Writing skills

Master your chosen career

Have a single child in one of your many affairs, don’t take care of them, leave that to your spouse.

Gen 2: Never Love an Anchor

To one of your parents you were clear evidence of their partner's affairs and to the other you’re no better than air. You care a lot about knowing what others are thinking and doing and you want to. You have a kid but in your gut you know you cannot take care of this child without hurting them in the same ways your parents hurt you if not worse. You always want to know how their life is, however, and while you hope they never meet you, you wish to be confided in by others and make sure your kid is living the best life possible.

Traits: Non-committal, Clumsy, Nosy

Aspiration: Neighborhood Confidant

Skills: Handiness

Career: Freelance

Own rentals and get them all to 5 stars

If landlording doesn’t make enough money work freelance

Have a kid but give them up for adoption because you don't think you're suitable to take care of kids

The family that adopts your child should be one of your tenants

Avoid interacting with your kid as much as humanly possible but make sure you always know what's going on in their life

Gen 3: Safe Ship Harbored

Your life is… actually pretty good as far as things go. Yeah it sucks you never met your mom and it is a part of your identity but your adoptive parents aren’t bad people (unless you decided the worst for this kid.) If anything you’re lacking spice in your life, so in highschool you cause all the drama possible. But before long something happens that changes you fundamentally. You got pregnant. At an age way too young to take care of a baby. You commit your life to this baby but it drains you of your spark for life, you don’t give them up though because they deserve better than an absent parent just because they weren’t intended. You always think of what your life could have been though.

Traits: Jealous, Lazy, Child of the Ocean (avoid going in the water) hows these? Good - maybe nosy for trait but idk

Aspiration: Drama Llama (as a teenager), Beach Life (as a young adult/adult)

Skills: None, But focus on maxing the heirs skills

Career: None, to make money only paint pictures of the ocean or boats

Complete the Drama Llama aspiration

Start going to university

Get pregnant in university and drop out

Have max friendship with your kid

Get all infant milestones

Max all of heirs toddler skills

Complete the heirs child aspiration (up to you)

Gen 4: Arcturus Beaming

Your parent(s) tried their best but you were heavily bullied in highschool and you became a shut-in as an adult. You become paranoid as a result of this bullying and your paranoia leads you to live in a bunker, only leaving to go to work. During one of your shifts you discover the hidden planet Sixam, your curiosity gets the better of you and you devise a plan to get there. Once you land, you’re shocked to discover aliens! You never thought other lifeforms could exist, you befriend the aliens, and eventually go back to your own planet. (Marry one of the aliens you meet on this trip, if you choose to marry). As you continue making trips to Sixam, you notice your decreasing paranoia. You realize how much of your life you wasted and decide you can now live your life to the fullest.

Traits: Paranoid, Loner, Overachiever, Wise

Career: Scientist

Live In a bunker, only leave to work (until paranoid trait gets changed)

Gen 5: Allies or Enemies

You don't try to be mean, mean words just come more naturally than flowery prose. You know it affects the people around you negatively, but you can’t help yourself. You make mistakes. A lot of them, but your spouse is the one you want to stay with at the end of the day and you can’t imagine your life without them so you will make it work even if you’re complete opposites and oftentimes neither of you get what you see in each other (but that makes you want each other more.)

Traits: Socially Awkward, High Maintenance, Noncommittal

Career: Secret Agent

Master Secret Agent Career: Villain Branch

Your spouse doesn’t need to max their career but they should reach the branch point.

Get married to your enemy

Your enemy should be loyal (rest of the traits your choice), Also be a secret agent: Diamond Agent branch

Cheat on your spouse and get caught but get them to marry you again/ max relationship again

Bonus points if you can get max romance while negative max friendship

Gen 6: Bitter Medicine

You clearly inherited your parent’s communication skills, but you don’t want to go through the cycles of having others hate you before slowly repairing your mistakes. You want to be better, even if it means you have to fake it until you make it. Especially so towards your kids who think the world of you, although you don't see the same in yourself.

Traits: Hates Children, Perfectionist, Squeamish

Aspiration: Master Actress + Successful Lineage

Skills: Acting, Parenting

Career: Actor

Complete Master Actor/Actress Aspiration before having kids

Master Acting skill

Master Actor Career

Treat your kids really well and have max relationships with all of them in spite of hating kids trait (never change that trait out unless your sim is an elder and they can finally come clean to themself)

Gen 7: Unraveling

For better or for worse your relationships have guided the course of your life. You fell into knitting due to your close relationship with someone who happened to knit, because you loved them dearly, but they departed. You became a gardener and deeply attached to plants (even becoming one yourself) because a person you loved taught you to connect with nature on a deeper level. Your house itself is a product of the crafts of someone else you loved. FInally, your children are the product of a love you thought would never decay. For better or for worse they are all a part of you and make up who you become.

Traits: Romantic, Gloomy, Loves Outdoors

Aspiration: Lady of the Knits

Skills: Gardening, Knitting, Floral Arrangement

Career: Gardener: Floral Designer branch

Master Gardener Career: Floral Designer branch

Master Gardening skill

Master Floral Arrangement skill

Complete Lady of the Knits aspiration

4 Major Relationships

Meet an elderly person who mentors you in knitting, live together until their death

First Spouse should have gardening related traits, aspiration, & job. Eventually you can divorce them or they die. Pick your spice.

Become a plant sim while you’re with your first spouse.

Second Spouse is the same story as the first spouse but with woodworking instead.

Spouse should make a ton of furniture that you keep even after they leave and use it as your house furniture. You may cheat their handiness skill up if you don’t want to deal with that.

Final spouse should be a childhood friend, someone who stayed with you all your life.

Have heir with this spouse along with at least one other kid

Gen 8: Easier

The parent you thought hung the stars themselves is gone. You and Your sibling connected over this and made an inseparable bond. You moved in together, started on your adult lives together, found peace and truly made a home together. It was you and them until the end. Unfortunately, they tragically passed too soon. Their passing breaks you, you move to a town and “start fresh” but eventually you realize that the past isn’t left behind that easily, and that it isn’t easier to abandon what little you had left of them. And after some time, and a lot of healing, you come to terms that that would not be what your sibling would have wanted either. You return to the home you had together and face the future, even if it hurts.

Traits: Family-Oriented, Self-Assured, Loyal

Aspiration: Inner Peace + Self-Care Specialist

Skills: Wellness

Career: None (Own a Spa)

Become best friends with a/your sibling

Move in together and build a home together. Fill it with pictures and other things that are about them together.

While you live together, complete the inner peace aspiration.

Have the sibling die

Once the sibling dies, move to a town and change identities (either metaphorically or do it literally) until you complete self care specialist aspiration.

Once you complete self care specialist aspiration move back into the house you shared with your sibling to settle down

Gen 9: Turn out the lights

You’re kind of impulsive and can't stop yourself from doing the first thing that pops into your head. That makes it hard to really “stick” with something but it lets you see things you wouldn't have seen otherwise. Maybe eventually you’ll calm down long enough to realize you are able to have self control, but until then lets try stuff out.

Traits: Creative, High Maintenance, Kleptomaniac

Aspiration: Academic + Renaissance Sim

Skills: Not Specified

Career: Not Specified

Complete Academic Aspiration

Complete Renaissance Sim Aspiration

Operate (almost) exclusively by your sim’s whims (though cloud tasks) from young adulthood until you finish the renaissance sim aspiration (you may do something other than their whims for the sake of their aspirations and not dying but prioritize the whims)

Once aspiration is completed you may change the kleptomaniac trait for another.

Gen 10: The Well

You think about your family a lot. Your parents weren’t really all “there” with their adventures among other stuff. But when you think of your family, you don’t just think of your parents. You can help but think of everyone who came before you, the regrets they may have had, the regrets you will have. You want to live a life without those regrets, while you may struggle since it genuinely is very difficult for you to communicate with others. You want to experience everything life has to offer and connect to those who you want to communicate with genuinely, one way or another.

Traits: Gloomy, Socially Awkward, Adventurous

Aspiration: Mt. Komorebi Sightseer + City Native + Fountain of Tomarani Knowledge

Skills: Medium, Selvadoradian Culture

Career: Paranormal Investigator (freelance)

Keep a diary all your life

Write in it daily

Complete Mt, Komorebi Sightseer

Complete City Native

Complete Fountain of Tomarani Knowledge

Once all aspirations + Selvadoradian Culture are completed change the socially awkward and gloomy trait to outgoing and cheerful traits respectively

Keep a shrine for your ancestors (generation heirs) and a proper place for all their graves/urns

Host a family gathering with the ghosts of all previous heirs (Optional as their spirits may have faded)

You had hopes, dreams, aspirations even before you met them. Now they’re in your life and you don't know who you were outside of them. Do you still exist if they are not looking at you? What did you want to do in the past? You’re not quite sure, but it will take work and effort to reclaim your sense of self again that you so desperately crave. May the moon guide you.

Traits: Loner, Music Lover, Good

Aspiration: Cure Seeker, Musical Genius

Skills: Singing

Career: None (sing for tips and compose songs)

Get married to werewolf who gives you curse bite (forcibly gives)

Spouse should have Lone wolf Aspiration + evil trait

Spouse should complete their aspiration (you can cheat if you don't want to work for it)

Become Apex werewolf taking these traits (if you can take more and it’s not specified to not take take whatever you want)

in honor of our favorite 33 to 100000+ year old unemployed terrorist’s birthday (korean time), i present to you: puzzleshipping time loop au where yami yuugi gets worse instead of better from s0.

ok so we all know that the Gang(TM) got through some shit throughout the story, where they are pretty close to dying. a lot.

how consider, instead of making it through barely, they dont. (gets shot multiple times-)

ok but more specifically yuugi dies from the strain of shadow games and stress or a mishap in those games. and yami PANICS HE PANICS SO HARD PRAYING TO EVERY GOD THAT YUUGI DIDNT DIE AND THEN THE MAGIC OF THE PUZZLE ACTIVATES AND YAMI IS BACK IN TIME AND SAVES YUUGI and everyone gets out safe and sounds and sane :)

Except It Keeps Happening. Yuugi Keeps Dying. Yami Keeps Turning Back Time.

he can get it right if he just had another chance. he wont let yuugi die again. that wont happen and they would make it to the end of their journey this time-

Yuugi Dies To A Bully. (one more chance. please. i can make this right-)

Yuugi Dies To Silfer. (no please i not like this hes my partner i cant go on without him-)

Yuugi Dies To Marik. (NO NO THIS CANNOT STAND I WONT LET IT REMAIN THIS WAY-)

yami gets more desperate, protective, and unhinged as the cast makes it through their journey. he gets jumpy, withdrawn, and snaps at anything that might seem like a threat. his already tense relationship with kaiba because more testy as he loses trust in those around him other than yuugi’s close friends. hes also more violent and harsh, not really giving up penalty games like he does in the transition to duel monsters.

yuugi is scared of yami. he never quite got over it even with his friends’ acceptance of yami. but he also knows yami is scared and he cant pinpoint why exactly other than its related to protecting him. but hes also scared to ask because what if yami snaps at him. he doesnt want yami to hurt anymore but also doesnt want him to hurt anyone else.

eventually, the continuous use of extremely taxing magic starts eroding away at both of their souls. cracks form in yami’s soul room first. stair start crumbling and doors are barely holding on. yami slowly starts losing himself and he knows it, but he also cant let yuugi die. the cracks reach yuugi’s soul room after a while. a few of the toys start showing wear, board games losing pieces, cracks in the walls. thats when yami comes clean.

its a terrifying and heartwrenching experience for both the yuugis and the rest of their friends. Yuugi has been dying. These games are dangerous and they haven’t been making it through them like they thought. the only reason why yami kept going and pursuing his memories? because yuugi keeps encouraging him to find himself and he thinks he can protect yuugi better next time. and because he thinks that once hes gone, yuugi will be safe again.

they figure it out though. they make sure yuugi stays safe. why do they keep going? because yami deserves to know who he is, and yuugi is willing to risk his life to get there. as he already had, but this time it will actually be different.

and yami learns an important lesson on friendship, learning when to ask for help, and communication. and then we have the rest of normal canon just with yami’s major ptsd and a slower to warm yami who is still willing to burn someone to the ground in like season 4.

how does this relate to orv? idk man i just think time loop and go “omg yjh vibes fr fr” i think it would be an interesting parallel between yami and yjh, they just match in my brain for some reason. doesnt quite follow yjh’s character arc tho LOL

anyway i like angsty time loop aus as much as i like silly time loop aus. they just have so much potential. here i just wanted yami to suffer :)
