OFFICIAL | On Smackdown, MCMG announced they will face the tag team champions D.I.Y. at the Royal Rumble in a 2 out of 3 falls count match. This is the first time either tag titles have been defended on PPV since Wrestlemania last year.

I don’t think everyone fully understands how excited and happy I am about this. As a fan of tag team wrestling, what the Motor City Machine Guns have accomplished since signing with WWE has truly benefited the division, and I couldn’t be prouder. Additionally, having two of the greatest tag teams face off once again at one of the major four pay-per-views is a significant honor. I hope this becomes something we can discuss for years to come.

Sixteen years ago today, the Motor City Machine Guns team, consisting of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, faced off in the tournament finals to crown the vacated X Division Championship.

(Funny enough, I was watching this match yesterday, not knowing that today marks sixteen years since it happened.)

Every time these two step into the ring together, something magical happens. I will never get tired of watching them interact, as their chemistry—both as a team and as opponents—is truly special and rare.
