When I say “school should be disability accessible”, I don’t just mean we need handicap rails and EAs. Kids should be able to miss a day without failing out of school. You shouldn’t be dismissed from clubs because your attendance record is “spotty” (true story). I once missed an entire week of school because of a terrible, unending migraine. I was expected to keep up with my studies despite the blinding pain that came with working on my computer. When I heard my teachers say that you couldn’t miss exams, I asked what I would have to do to be excused from them. Their response? “Either get a doctor’s note an hour before the exam or death of an immediate family member.”
I cannot express how rigid this expectation was. First of all, with my condition, I wouldn’t have enough warning about my sickness to go to the doctor and request a note. For many people, this is exceptionally difficult, especially with the current shortage of medical professionals. Next, it ignores the fact that my schedule may not line with theirs because of my medical needs. Once, I had to visit a hospital a province away (which I was on the waiting list of for over a year) on the same day as an exam. I begged my mother not to take me because I was so nervous that I would be marked as an automatic fail. I was lucky enough to make it work, but that’s only because of my spectacular support system consisting of family members and wonderful doctors.
Disabilities aren’t always about needing a bus that can accommodate wheelchairs. It’s already difficult enough for many of us to maintain school attendance without the harsh punishments involved for skipping a day. We need to be able to miss school without being punished. Only than can you claim that the school is “accessible”

The fact that we as a species haven’t dropped absolutely everything for science baffles me.
You want to go to war? When there are dinosaur bones under your feet? When there are diseases that could be cured? When trees can communicate?
I will never understand.

One of the most dangerous things in the world is not being able to say no to people because you don't want to upset them or dissapoint them. This will completely ruin your life in every way possible, at work, in your private life, your sex life and your friendships. It's a way of removing your own consent in your own decisions and go against your wishes, it is always a crime against yourself. Let yourself have a say. Upsetting people is better than traumatizing yourself.

I genuinely hate Game of Thrones, ASOIAF, and everything about George RR Martin and all the media that spawned from him. I was a fan when I was like, 13, but holy shit I never want to touch any media related to GRRM ever again.
I periodically think about how Hannah Waddingham had a graphic rape scene in Game of Thrones replaced at the last minute with a waterboarding scene. This was a "better alternative" because the show, at the time, had come under criticism for excessive sexual violence. They did not let her know prior to shooting, only told her to wear a wetsuit to set. Then they proceeded to actually waterboard her for hours on camera, to the point that she developed claustrophobia from the experience.
“‘Thrones’ gave me something I wasn’t expecting from it, which was chronic claustrophobia,” Waddingham said. “It was horrific. Ten hours of being actually waterboarded. Like actually. I’m strapped to a table with all these leather straps. I couldn’t lift up my head because I said that would be too obvious that it’s loose.”
Lena Headey also remarked in retrospect that filming the scene, where she was actively torturing Hannah Waddingham for hours, made her deeply uncomfortable and upset. Famously, Kubrick and other auteur directors operated this way, creating actual pain, distress, and suffering to achieve a gratifying effect.
Ultimately, this is entertainment generated by operating under pornographic principles. The pleasure is generated from actually, literally torturing a woman onscreen in the same way that pornographic pleasure is generated from actually, literally penetrating (and often torturing) a woman onscreen. I wonder how much of what we see in media is created this way, and we won't find out until years later.

If you associate big noses with masculinity and think that women with big/unusual shaped noses would look better getting them “fixed” with surgery, I hate you and I hope you have diarrhea for the rest of your life

Once you start noticing the passive voice being used for men's actions, you can't unsee it. In history class it was always "women weren't seen as equal human beings" or "women weren't able to own property or have jobs or get education" rather than men legally considered women their property and banned them from work, school, and property rights.
In the news it's always "girl raped in park" or "woman killed in home" which would make some sense if the perpetrator was unknown, but they often have already caught the culprit by the time the article comes out and it's always a man.
The amount of times I've seen a headline about a man murdering his entire family before killing himself being titled "man commits suicide after family is killed" with a nice little family photo of them is absolutely absurd.
Hell, just last night I saw an article titled, "3 kids killed after mom let ex-partner take them to get food." Her male ex took the kids to get food and murdered them before killing himself. Not only is the headline passive, but it also phrases it in a way that makes the mother somehow look guilty like she knew what he had planned or knew he was insane.
To top it off, people get really uncomfortable if you stop using the passive voice for this stuff. They start squirming if you straight up say "men wrote laws banning women from voting" even when that is literally what happened. BOTH men and women act this way. It's like we're all just supposed to pretend that rape, enslavement, murder, and other human rights violations against women just fell from the sky.

Warning: I’m about to talk about the protests that have been going on across college campuses, as I was part of one as well (and assaulted by cops along with my friends). I don’t talk about the current war much because I know it’s a politically charged topic, but I felt like this needed to be said. It’s not really about the protests themselves, but how women involved in political discussions are treated. No matter what side you’re on, I think I make a good point.
Have you noticed that, when discussing the protests that have occurred on college campuses recently, conservative men (and even some liberal men) have been claiming that we (college kids) are just protesting because we want to look cool/go viral and we don’t actually know anything about the topic?
Yeah, well I say that’s misogyny 100%.
Look at the caricatures they’ve been making of us, of all the protesters. It’s 99% of the time a young woman, usually with dyed hair and usually fat as well. The stereotypical “blue-haired feminist” (which I think is a stupid trope). Liberal women in general are stereotyped this way. It’s also well known that teenage girls & college women are hated by grown men and, dare I say, society in general. We’re constantly the subject of ridicule.
Do you really think it’s a coincidence that because many of the protesters have been women, that men are claiming we don’t even know what we’re protesting about? A college girl can’t possibly care about a war and dumb women can’t possibly be aware of what’s going on in the world, right? We must be protesting because we want views on TikTok and oppression points.🙄
And let me point out that the counter-protesters at many schools, including mine, have been white boys and they’ve been being praised for “fighting for America and Israel.” A frat boy at Ole Miss is being praised all over social media for making monkey noises at a Black woman who was part of a pro-Palestine protest, he’s being hailed a hero for being racist to this woman. So the protesters (majority being women and POC) don’t really know what they’re protesting about, but the ones against them (majority white boys) do? The misogyny is so glaringly obvious I can’t believe it took me so long to notice.
Women, especially young women, who involve themselves in political discussions, protests, and activism are looked down on like crazy, while men seem to be praised for it. I’ve seen this happen to both liberal and conservative women, yet another example that neither side supports us. We’re assumed to not know anything about the topic and men think we only care about politics for clout or internet points.
The next time you say something like this about a protest, maybe examine why you think they must not know what they’re fighting for. Especially if you’re a woman yourself. We’ve long been made fun of in political discussions.
This will probably be the last time I talk about this topic but it needed to be said. Don’t even bother arguing with me, especially if you weren’t part of a protest, because I’m speaking from experience about the misogyny I’ve been facing. If you’d like to help the students who are facing unfair academic consequences for exercising their right to peacefully protest, DM me for info about petitions.

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.
and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
I'm not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me

That is something I noticed, regarding how a lot of the trans genocide truthers are supporting Palestine. How can you look at the Gaza Strip and then compare the abject horror Palestinians are going through to people not using your neopronouns?? How can you be exposed to mutilated children and broken families and massacred hospitals and then compare that to the situation of "first world" trans people????
Tumblr media
Your biased media and rhetoric has managed to cause so much fear and distrust in your own group that they think they have to move country or go off-grid in order to survive a "genocide" that isn't occurring.
