This is the end result of anti-trans propaganda: more harassment of girls and women, more policing of gender roles, more gender McCarthyism.

My doggo crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. Gonna need to take the rest of the day off the net, so I can grieve and breathe and accept that he's gone. Probably play Legend of Zelda and listen to music and read my book club book.

I told my boyfriend I’m going to be that lady who puts her animals in a stroller and takes them for walks. He said he’ll support me. What a guy.

A child is not a spur of the moment decision. It takes acknowledgement and training and effort and planning and the acknowledgement that all those ideals you have about parenthood are not the child’s responsibility. I have seen way too many parents thinks they can plan out their kids’ entire lives, and then absolutely combust when it turns out that none of the parents’ plans are what the kids actually want.
at the end of the day i am a hater of parenthood, I don't believe everyone deserves a child, i am against surrogacy and international adoption, im also against teen pregnancy, against people having more than 3/4 kids and against people with fragile incomes and lack of family/friends support deciding to bring a kid into the world on purpose, to sum up, I don't like how grown adults don't take bringing a whole ass human being into this difficult world seriously enough

The Singapore Zoo welcomed nearly 20 young reptiles between April and June, including the first successful hatchings of the Philippine crocodile and painted terrapin, both critically endangered species.
Mr Luke Harding, curator of animal care operations, said: “Behind each successful hatching is a journey of perseverance, trial and careful planning. Many of these species are notoriously difficult to breed in human care. That’s why seeing them thrive is incredibly rewarding and meaningful for us.”

it is very hard for me to really understand the factions of fans behind GOT and HoTD ruling families like Lannisters and Starks when all I see is powerfully politicians making choices that fuck over the common people.

We're in the Second Gilded Age just like the first — when America's wealth was in the hands of a few, conspicuous consumption existed alongside homelessness and hunger, monopolies destroyed competition, big money corrupted politics, unions were busted, and wages were suppressed. Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good. I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

Can i say something problematique for terminally online millenials and people born after that point: I think the seeming lack of ability or willingness to call one another and chat on the phone with friends unprompted or out of the blue contributes to whatever hellish loneliness everyone is talking about feeling these days. Say what you want about boomers and old people but those guys mostly knew how to keep in touch with each other. Idk man call a bitch today

it always seemed like a curse, how the story of Link is repeated over and over and over and over. He will always answer the call, just like the ones before him did.

Ref Recs for Whump Writers
Violence: A Writer’s Guide:  This is not about writing technique. It is an introduction to the world of violence. To the parts that people don’t understand. The parts that books and movies get wrong. Not just the mechanics, but how people who live in a violent world think and feel about what they do and what they see done.
Hurting Your Characters: HURTING YOUR CHARACTERS discusses the immediate effect of trauma on the body, its physiologic response, including the types of nerve fibers and the sensations they convey, and how injuries feel to the character. This book also presents a simplified overview of the expected recovery times for the injuries discussed in young, otherwise healthy individuals.
Body Trauma: A writer’s guide to wounds and injuries. Body Trauma explains what happens to body organs and bones maimed by accident or intent and the small window of opportunity for emergency treatment. Research what happens in a hospital operating room and the personnel who initiate treatment. Use these facts to bring added realism to your stories and novels.
10 B.S. Medical Tropes that Need to Die TODAY…and What to Do Instead: Written by a paramedic and writer with a decade of experience, 10 BS Medical Tropes covers exactly that: clichéd and inaccurate tropes that not only ruin books, they have the potential to hurt real people in the real world.
Maim Your Characters: How Injuries Work in Fiction: Increase Realism. Raise the Stakes. Tell Better Stories. Maim Your Characters is the definitive guide to using wounds and injuries to their greatest effect in your story. Learn not only the six critical parts of an injury plot, but more importantly, how to make sure that the injury you’re inflicting matters.
Blood on the Page: This handy resource is a must-have guide for writers whose characters live on the edge of danger. If you like easy-to-follow tools, expert opinions from someone with firsthand knowledge, and you don’t mind a bit of fictional bodily harm, then you’ll love Samantha Keel’s invaluable handbook
