Traveling During a Pandemic - My Family's Situation.
After almost two years without visiting her hometown in the Dominican Republic, my sister Priscila planned to travel on Thanksgiving, the busiest travel day across the United States. In past years situations, it would not be a problem. But public health officials begged Americans not to travel during Thanksgiving because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“My family does not want me to go because since it is the busiest travel date of the year, I might be highly exposed to COVID-19, especially since cases are rising,” my sister said.
With the positivity rate in New York City near five percent and hospitals filling, my family worried about my sister. She insisted she would take all the precautions necessary.
“I have my spray disinfectant, wipes, gloves, and plastic travel suit ready. Once I leave my house, I will make sure I am fully covered to avoid getting infected,” my sister said. She is excited to finally go on vacation for a week. She feels safe but hopes airlines and travelers are also taking the precautions of abiding by the CDC safety measures.
The U.S. State Department says the Dominican Republic has 149, 630 cases and 2,347 deaths confirmed and has limited hospital facilities. Look at this page and fill in the blanks.
According to the CDC, before traveling to the Dominican Republic, you must get tested one to three days before your trip. During travel, it is important to wear a mask, use hand sanitizer, and keep at least six feet away from people. After your travel, you must be conscious of those who surround you and get tested three to five days after you return and stay home for seven days.
My dad, Francisco, worries. “I hate that she is taking this big risk, not only is she going from one of the epi-center places in the U.S, but she is also going to a developing country who are not taking the right or sufficient measures to contain the virus,” he said. Feeling anxious, he prays for her well-being and a safe trip back home to the United States.

STOP,MENTAL HEALTH CHECK!
Hey MadTravelers!
I wanted to take a break from my travel blogs and take this time to know how you are feeling. Though, looking at where you should travel next is definitely a stress-free hobby to do 24/7!
Your mental health is very important to me and I want to know how you are feeling! Covid-19 stressed, for my United states followers, stress about the election. With everything that is going on, it can be very hard to cope with the world right now.
Comment below and let me know how you are feeling and what you are doing to stay well!

What should I do If I want to Travel during COVID-19?
Do not be scared! I know this is all we want to do during COVID19!
Covid19 has changed our world for a very long time. Everyone’s reality has shifted but now we are just adjusting to our new normal. Crazy right?
Many countries have made their changes, closed borders, implemented regulations and this has affected the travel industry in a big way. But that does not mean the Travel industry is not going to bounce back, slowly but steady it is going back. However, these are some questions and resources you can use when thinking about traveling again.
Where destinations can I travel to in 2021? Which countries are open? What are the quarantine rules?
I recommend using headout tracker that collects real time data of places to travel like monuments attractions, landmarks, and cultural spots whenever they are opened or closed. They also provide quarantine rules for international travelers for all countries.

What to look forward to in the Dominican Republic after Covid-19.
All of us are wishing to spend one week in the beautiful Quisqueya during this madness. However, it does not prevent you to start planning now for your future dream vacation in the Dominican Republic. Here’s a four-week guide to having a perfect trip. Sure, it is relaxing to sit on the gorgeous white sand beach drinking refreshing cocktails, but there is so much more to this island than a luxury getaway.
Follow this itinerary and you can thank me later!
Day one: Begin in the gorgeous sunny city of Santo Domingo, visiting the Zona Colonial and El Malecon. Half-day tours and Full-day tours are offered, so pick the one that best one that fits your need. Either way, the energy-driven city has a lot to offer.
Day 2: While in Santo Domingo, enjoy a walk through El higuero & Los Morenos. You will get the opportunity to interact with a local culture influenced by African, European, and Taino Heritage.
Day 3: Travel to the second City of the Dominican Republic, Santiago De Los Caballeros. Known for its tobacco and sugarcane plantations which many tourists can visit. Monumento de Los Heroes de la Restauracion is one of the well-known landmarks in this area, the greatest place to visit during sunset.
Day 4: You can visit the rivers and lakes that are most recognized for rafting and other outdoorsy expeditions. Like, Jamao del Norte and Cabarete.
