I'm excited to be featured in the Furture Society's @furnituresociety Noise/Makers Series! There is an interview about my work, and I demonstrate a few of my glass instruments. (Link is in bio!) Thanks to the Furniture Society for having me in this program! It feels great to branch out to other fields that aren't solely glass. Thanks to @rzimmerman.woodwork for inviting me! #furnituresociety #fsconnects #glassinstruments https://www.instagram.com/p/CIo7e5gnH1c/?igshid=p5zjd3kgq2ds

Little glass doodle I made while waiting to teach my first class of the semester! Estatic to be back in the studio again after 5 flameless months! I'm altering my very hands-on teaching style to allow for maximum safety and social distancing but it is so worth it. We're all in this together.

Curly trumpet! This was one of my first glass brass instruments. The longer they are, the more overtones they produce 🎺 🎺 🎺 . . . #musicalglass #trumpet #glassmusic #trumpetplayer #brassinstruments #woodwinds #glassblowing #flameworking #flamework #lampwork #glassofig #borosilicate #boro #boroofig #contemporaryglass #eastcoastglass #girlswhoblowglass #musicmemes #glassblowinglife #glassart #headyglass #bestofglass #unexpected https://www.instagram.com/p/CEJ5IY2nl_5/?igshid=bexz7046n5t9

“Catching Breath” is one of my two thesis shows, featuring a live performance with the Instruments of Connection and Compromise.
.
The show was postponed, but I was lucky to get the chance to quickly install and take photos just days before school closed. Gallery photos by @sweater.boy.
This work has changed a lot in the age of COVID. (The photos of us playing are pre-pandemic.)
This show examines vulnerability through the theme of breath.
These instruments explore interpersonal dynamics made concrete and physical.

Connected Breath Quartet.
This work has taken on a completely new meaning over the past few weeks. The series is about people uniting through shared breath, an act which is now forbidden and seems almost taboo. Breath is revealed to be a gift. The act of breathing can no longer be taken for granted. Connection feels like a longing more than ever before.

Quick time lapse, bending the mouthpiece of this instrument into the exact right position. This object is only slightly awkward to hold and maneuver! (at Rochester Institute of Technology) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9MunLuH0rC/?igshid=1i1m08ymzrzrx

Some relics of double and triple-blown bubbles. For those who are interested in seeing the end product. I like them as wall pieces, may do further installations with these for my thesis show. They are impossibly delicate. #connectedbreath (at RIT College of Art and Design) https://www.instagram.com/p/B73erlzHfiY/?igshid=11cfnt7hkjigv

Bundle up! The glass is thin enough to provide a tickly caress, a slightly itchy cocoon. (Don't worry I did safety squints) Glass is a good insulator=extra protection from the cold. (at RIT College of Art and Design) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7-EgMjnJlZ/?igshid=1srwc0w9lfdql

Glass + fibers = Arthropods with muscle! These are collaborative pieces with Shana Kohnstamm, a fabulous fiber artist who does sculptural felting. Check out her work @shana_kohnstamm! I love what the felting does to the glass. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7eXfYinMVE/?igshid=uwc4z3sa1bz1

Glass Cocoon.
Hot glass strands woven around a steel armature. Starting as a geometric structure, it inflated into a cocoon form.
