I went down to Northern Georgia to see the eclipse (didn't have the right lense/filters to photo the eclipse, but it was pretty amazing!) and stopped by the Atlanta botanical garden, where I found this skipper butterly.

You guys I got a snake!!! She is a 5-month-old female ball python and is super adorable. Ball Pythons come in all different color morphs, this particular morph is called "lemonblast genetic stripe" and is a combination of 3 different genetic mutations.
I've actually had her for about a month but have just been letting her get adjusted to her new home. She's doing great, eats like a champ, and already shed her skin once. Still needs a name though...

Harvestmen (order Opiliones, related to but not actually spiders) are out in full force. Found a bunch of different species all in the same area.

Finally we got some real summer weather and the bugs are coming out. This small jumping spider was really curious about my camera.

Finally the weather is warming up and the bugs are coming out. This Boxelder bug (Boisea trivittata) was one of many that I found trying to warm up in the sun.

My juvenille Brachypelma sabulosum (Guatamalen red-rump tarantula) is on the more skittish end of the spider personality spectrum. It's not aggressive, but you can see it's kicked off a lot of the dark, irritating hairs on its abdomen as a defense mechanism, leaving a bald patch.
I think most of that happened when I moved to a new apartment a couple months ago. I don't think it appreciated having its home packed in a box and driven around. But no worry, the next time it molts it'll be back to normal.

Hey everyone, I'm baaaaack! This blog has been in a long-term hiatus for a while, but I'm happy to say I'm picking things up and already have a bunch of new photos to post.
I took advantage of the nice weather and spent some time out in central park. Not too many bugs out yet but I did find this one plant starting to bud and flower.
