You took time
I try not to think about the time you broke me The time you took my feelings My heart on the line Hanging by a thread And cut that string with a simple phrase I never thought being told That I should not love someone Would hurt so much Would take so much from me But it did It took time It took time away from me Because of the days and nights I laid in bed Thinking about what I did wrong Thinking about what was wrong with me It took time away from me Because I could have been doing something else All of those days I spent Hanging out with people Hoping you would be there Hoping you would talk to me Hoping you would see me the way I saw you But instead I wasted my time on you It took time away from me Because I could have loved another I could have devoted that time Devoted that energy Toward another person A decent fucking human being Or at least someone who wouldn't have thrown my heart on the ground The way you did It took time To stop hurting To heal To grow And maybe I'm Still hurting Still healing Still growing But that makes sense Because it took time to fall for you It took time to realize you could be the one for me You took time

NaPoWriMo yr. 3?
I think it's year 3 at least. Idek why I'm doing this anymore, I completely failed last year and I don't use tumblr anymore. But I like the idea of being creative, which is why I'm taking a poetry course this quarter, so like Imma do this anyway. Anyway I hope this formatting doesn't turn out jank cuz I'm not home and I got logged out of my account on my laptop :( C'est la vie though Here's something I wrote on the plane to DC today: 18 Times I've Decided You're Perfect 1. On our first date when I saw your eyes light up while talking about high school choir. 2. When you did that stupid, yet cute, thing to try to hold my hand. 3. When you ran all the way across campus to walk me home at 2:00 in the morning even though we'd only been dating for about four days. 4. When my best friend, who hates every boy I've ever liked, told me she approved of you 100%. 5. When you laughed at me for trying to hold your hand because I forgot you were holding a knife. 6. When I found out how excited you get about ramen. 7. When you corrected my definition of wholesome because I thought I was losing myself. 8. When we sang together for the first time and we automatically filled in the harmonies while the other sang the melody. 9. When we stayed up all night asking each other questions to get to know each other better until we couldn't think of any more questions. 10. When I realized you got your list of questions from "The 36 Questions That Lead to Love." 11. When we saw each other for the first time after being apart for a week and you literally fell on the floor because you were so excited to see me. 12. When I told you I was questioning whether I was even emotionally ready for a relationship and then you told me you loved me for the first time. 13. When you gave me the time and the space I needed to wait to say, "I love you," when I knew I really meant it. 14. When we went to IKEA and made puns out of all of the furniture. 15. When you decided to read an entire book series for me and actually followed through with it. 16. When you followed up my words, "Bears, beets..." with, "Battlestar Galactica." 17. When you got drunk and told me all of the things you love about me. 18. Whenever I'm with you.

1. Never leave cookies in the oven too long. Even if they’re still really soft, take them out after the recommended time. When they cool they will harden. Trust me, no one likes cookies that taste like rocks. 2. Always take a jacket. Even if you think you’ll be fine. Even if you’ll be inside. Even if there’s a heater. Bring your jacket. 3. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help when you need it because everyone needs help sometimes. 4. The best pancake recipe is 1 cup equal parts flour and milk, ½ cup sugar and a pinch of baking powder. Add chocolate chips for extra deliciousness. 5. Go outside every day. Even if you don’t want to. Even if you have to use all your strength to drag yourself out of bed. The sunshine might not cure your problems, but it’ll do you so much good to breathe fresh air. 6. Don’t let your hobbies fade away. Keep reading, keep drawing, keep singing, keep painting, keep running. Keep doing what you love. 7. Carbs are not the enemy. They fuel your brain. So eat those potatoes and that rice and don’t you feel guilty about it for one second. 8. I know it sounds cliché but time really does heal all wounds. Give yourself 6 months and it won’t hurt so much, trust me. 9. Be kind. There is no reason for you to put someone down. 10. Learn to love yourself loudly and unconditionally and never apologise for it. 11. If you ever find yourself involved with someone who treats you like you’re nothing, run for the hills and never look back. They don’t deserve you. 12. Rose hip oil is a miracle worker. Gently rub over your face each night before bed and your skin will feel like silk. 13. Drink. Three. Litres. Of. Water. Every. Day. 14. Take pictures. Document everything. One day you’re gonna want to look back at all of this, make sure you have the photos to look at. 15. Let go of anything that weighs you down. The past is the past and there’s nothing we can do to change it. Every day is a another chance for us to do better, to be better. 16. Spend as much time as you can with the people who make you laugh. 17. Set up goals for yourself and keep yourself motivated in whatever you’re doing. Always have something to work towards. 18. Try to make your bed every morning. Yes it’s a hassle when you’re half asleep but there is no better feeling then coming home to a nice clean freshly made bed, especially if you’ve had a bad day. 19. Treat yourself but also look after yourself. Eat lots of fruits and veggies and move your body then dance all night and have a doughnut as a midnight snack. Life is about balance. 20. Never be afraid to love, even if you’ve been hurt before. Live life with an open heart and you might be vulnerable but you will experience so much joy.

- Draco scrubs the skin on his arm viciously every time he showers. The skin is always red and marked by scratches. He tries so hard to get the mark off of him. He wants to feel clean again. - George can’t look in the mirror anymore. Not without remembering Fred. He smashes all mirrors in their home. He cuts his hair, he dyes it. - Neville sees Nagini in his dreams. But in his dreams it reaches Ron and Hermione before he does. - Harry has multiple wands all around his house hidden in places that only he knows. Beneath his pillow, beneath his bed, under the couch. Just in case. - Hermione’s boggart is no longer failure. - Draco and Blaise are afraid of fire. - Someone accidentally calls George “Fred” once. No one knows who starts crying first. - Headmistress Miverna Mcgonagall is fierce, powerful and kind. All first years are intimidated and amazed, she seems untouchable. However some nights she roams the school hallways and remembers every student she lost, every life that got taken away too soon, every soul that left them too early. - Harry suddenly can’t stay in very small rooms. He feels trapped, his throat starts convulsing and his eyes sting. - Hagrid still feels the weight of what he thought was Harry’s corpse in his hands. It haunts him. - Hermione, Ron and Harry had gotten so used to spending months having one small meal per day that sometimes they forget they’re supposed to eat. - Harry rolls in his sleep once and hits his forehead against the night stand on accident, when he wakes up with pain on his forehead his heart sinks and his whole body freezes. It isn’t until he sees the bruise that he’s able to calm down. Because Voldemort isn’t back. - Ron dreams that he’s back in their tent, traveling and hiding, he’s changing the radio stations and he hears Ginny’s names as one of the victims. - Molly always has “where’s Fred?” on the tip of her tongue, at all times. - Harry spends the year post-war discovering who he is, what he loves, other than the Boy-who-lived and the Savior-of-the-Wizarding-World. Because there are things he never had time to think about, never had time to experiment, never had time to experience. Sometimes he wonders if coming back had been the right choice, because it hurt so bad on some days that he couldn’t take it. - When Teddy is sad or scared and he’s crying, Harry tells him stories and shows him pictures of his parents, it’s then and only then that he calms down and his hair goes back to normal. - Harry pulls back to himself when the date of his death nears every year, his friends do everything in their power to bring him out of it. - Draco and Harry have talks about the war some nights, both saw what Voldemort was capable of, Harry in his dreams, Draco in his home. Both understand. - Luna is quirkier and weirder than ever before. She always does everything in her power to lighten up the mood in the room when the silence is bitter and mournful. It’s like she can’t stop shifting and smiling and nervously twitching and saying random facts about things no one has heard of before. Everyone knows it’s her way of coping, of staying positive. So no one minds. It’s comforting. - Harry gets the sudden desire to travel all over the world. Sometimes Ron and Hermione come with him, others he goes alone, once Neville joins him. Draco does too. - Draco starts writing, he writes thousands of words on some nights and none on others. He’s good at it, too. - Harry always, without fail, looks for Sirius’ constellation. He visits his grave too, tells him how things are going in his life, how he’s coping, how he isn’t. - Hermione getting a tattoo of blooming pastel flowers on top of her “mudblood” scar, because she’s alive, many her friends are alive and she wants to remember that.
And maybe not all is well, maybe they have scars time cannot erase, but they’re together, their hearts are still beating, so it’ll be okay. They’re going to be okay.

personally i don’t understand any animosity between hufflepuffs and slytherins because they both share the trait of being unconditionally loyal to their friends. just so happens that the former will stay up all night helping their friends study for an exam and the latter will procure their friends a copy of the answers
