backgrounds are hard. Here’s another prophet(?). His name is Uriah. He only appears once in the book of Jeremiah & the Bible and then dies.

Jeremiah sketch dump!

There’s the idea that Jeremiah was mentored by a fellow prophet, Zephaniah, and to find out he’s a descendant of DAVID… well that’s chaos combined. Due to his rank as a descendant of David through Hezekiah, Zephaniah may have had an easier time than most prophets as he is royalty.

But still… unless it’s Islam, ‘Prophet’ and ‘Descendant of David’ is a chaotic combo that I don’t think anyone could stand.. personality wise. Also I tried to make Zephaniah look richer and like royalty.

Anyway, onto this guy!!!! There’s actually another Uriah in the Bible that has a terrible fate, it’s this guy, another prophet (I think), did everything right but was still killed and his entire known life story is in Jeremiah 26:20-23. Gosh I feel so bad for him. Another Uriah that got a bad ending. (Luckily the bad endings stop there for the Uriah’s in the Bible tho)

And to the sketches of the man the book is actually named after (edit: he was in the Zephaniah sketch too..)

Baruch is Jeremiah’s bff and the only good scribe he knows (Lookin at you, Jonathan the scribe) and Baruch even got his own deuterocanonical Bible book! The next is based off the belief that Jeremiah was Ezekiel’s father, Buzi. Honestly I feel like the idea of Jeremiah raising the next Prophet would be kinda worrying to him because of all of the pain he went through as a prophet and he might’ve been overbearing and overprotective of Ezekiel talking with god and that might’ve let to some issues between them. Also I made a design for Ezekiel’s mom.

I think I’m reusing the teardrop earring style in my sketches 😂

was experimenting with David’s design to make him a bit more… extravagant I guess? (The lighting was weird for this one)

I also finally managed to get a good Uriah and Bathsheba design!

Uriah weapons are based off of the poll I did asking about what options to give him and spears ended up wining!

The ‘growing romance’ is probably 100% with Michal but at least we might get more David & Jonathan interactions in season 2, even if they are platonic (and if I’m remembering correctly, the clothing scene is AFTER Goliath’s death (EDIT: yeah I checked I’m right))

The difference in these drawings of Saul and David I found in my family Bible (which included some… extremely interesting family history)

idk seeing Saul without a beard is just so… weird???? And seeing David drawn with a long beard and a man bun is something I haven’t seen before.

(I don’t think he’s the guy in the corner who’s also dragging his horse down btw as it would be weird to have Saul be in the background of his death scene)

(Oh! and possibly Jonathan’s only drawn appearance in the 1500 illustrations idk)

It’s a 1887 probably Methodist (as that’s where my mom’s dad’s family stems from & if I’m remembering correctly one of my ancestors was a Methodist priest too (and I did start to share my my Bible fan art with my relatives before coming to tumblr)) family Bible

idk but for some reason I think Jonathan, David’s nephew, would be mentored by Benaiah. Benaiah also has some grey strands as well and I’ve had his design in my head for a while. Also this nephew of David is only mentioned in 2 Samuel 21:20-21 and logically I think he would be named after David’s uncle also named Jonathan.

And I made him blonde because why not?

Nathan Jr. tried to teach Pithon & Ahaz how to paint , it failed horribly and they got paint all over themselves lol ☺️
