if you’ve got someone in your life who apologises for a lot, instead of constantly telling them that they don’t have to apologise for that thing, slip in a couple ‘thank you’s or other small compliments.

“I’m sorry I can’t talk about that right now.” -> “thanks for establishing a boundary.”

“sorry I won’t be home for dinner” -> “I’m glad you’re able to go out and spend time with friend/treat yourself/etc.”

Keigo looks through the pages, finding one that catches his eye. It’s a drawing of a bird perched on a thin branch with leaves framing the sheet. He chooses a red marker almost immediately.  Minutes tick by and Keigo is lost in concentration as he colors in the bird’s wings red. He switches out the red marker for tan next, coloring in the body. When he gets to the face, he pauses. He gets yellow, drawing circles around the eyes and coloring them in. Another circle, this time gray and yellow. Something over the ears? He frowns pauses, knowing something’s missing and—right! He scribbles gold on top of the birds head outside the lines. A tuft of blonde hair. When he’s done coloring in the bird, he chirps happily. The Bird Man from last night, his hero and rescuer. The man who was so nice to Keigo, smelled like him and who is Keigo’s favorite hero already.
