““When he sees something beautiful, he has to scratch it, to mess with it and he doesn’t even really know why himself. And that’s kind of what makes up the complexity of Peter Hale.””
—
Michael Fjordback (x)
Friendly reminder that Peter Hale is not a poor misunderstood wooby.
Also friendly reminder that this totally explains why he bit Scott that night in the woods. He just had to mess with “something beautiful.”
This is my headcanon and you will have to wring it from my cold dead hands.
#AHHHHH WTFFFFF WHERE HAS THIS BEEN??#jesus fucking christ#peter hale#scott mccall#character analysis#old metas

In honor of @lesbinewren 's amazing post, which I am shamelessly copying.
Jeff Davis describing the theme of his show: I'm going to attack the idea that lethal violence is a viable solution to problems, and, without being judgemental about it, demonstrate that retributive bloodshed often only leads to an endless recursion of revenge and mayhem that will in the end destroy everyone involved as well as causing massive collateral damage. I will do this by subverting the normal ideas connected to both monster and monster hunter. The villains of the first season will be driven by hated and revenge. The villains of the second season will be driven by hatred and revenge. The villains of the first half of the third season will be driven by hatred and revenge. The villain of the second half of the third season will be created by hatred and revenge. The villains of the fourth season will be driven by hatred and revenge. The villains of the fifth and sixth seasons will be created by the multitude of consequences arising out of hatred and revenge.
The hero of this story will be turned into a werewolf against his will. He will have every reason to use new-found power to punish people for hurting him and his friends, but instead he will use forgiveness, compassion, and principle to forge, as one former-villain-turned-friend calls it, a "better way!"
Almost Everyone in the Teen Wolf fandom: Scott is so fundamentally stupid not to kill his enemies (except the white male ones I like) that he shouldn't even be the lead protagonist of his own show.
#how the actual fuck have I not seen this post before#literally the entire argument#i made a post about how centering non-canon elements ultimately leads to the total misunderstanding of the fundamental themes of the show#but i didn’t articulate will enough and it was a bit misinterpreted#but this is what i meant all along#thank you OP for this#scott mccall#teen wolf fandom#a lot of the show is centred around losing bodily autonomy#so scott refraining from violence is also an act of rebellion against the forces that stripped away his autonomy

There is something so special in the bond between Derek and Scott, especially the aspects that are not so overt.
The fact that Derek lost his entire family, found a newly bitten little shit and said “we’re brothers now”.
When Derek said he’d kill Scott for protecting Jackson, then not even two seconds later he’s catching bullets to protect Scott from hunters.
Scott near killing himself out of guilt when he thought Derek had died.
Scott being the first to know something was going on with Derek because Derek wasn’t responding to texts. Implying that Scott just checks up on him regularly???
Derek snapping out of Kate’s manipulations just to run to Scott.
Scott admitting to missing Derek.
Derek saying Scott reminds him of his mother.
The FUCKING PRIDE in Derek’s eyes when Scott was learning to be an alpha for Liam.
Scott being acutely aware of Derek’s health problems and his progress with relying on guns.
Derek saying that he came back to Beacon Hills for Scott (+the fact that Scott just goes to hug Derek as soon as he can when they reunite in 6B).
The brotherhood is real with this one.

I never understand people who are like "I love this character but I hate this other one" and the two characters are best friends. Your favorite character loves them, that's THEIR blorbo, their little shit, their sun and stars, and you want to hate them?

people watching Teen Wolf (apparently??): Scott is a neurotypical boring character with no vulnerabilities or nuance
Scott McCall: ‘in response to an extremely traumatic series of event in which my agency and bodily autonomy were wrenched out my control at the age of 16, i am now tying my self-worth directly to the well-being of every single person in this town (including those who have repeatedly tried to kill or actively harm me) and if i ever ‘fail’ to save someone i probably deserve to die or suffer a bunch more than i already have :))). also, the narrative has emphasized at multiple points that i will sacrifice myself not only out of compassion but because of a deeper feeling of complete worthlessness in the face of my own limitations. i am desperately sidelining my own past as much as possible yet my PTSD is still shaping how i try to act out the values of kindness and mercy (sometimes to rigid or illogical extremes) because these qualities weren’t shown to me when i was at my most vulnerable. it feels like someone trapped a monster under my skin and even though i am trying to use my abilities for good, it’s still hard to unlearn the pure terror and pain that i associate with becoming a werewolf against my will :)))’
