You two got together in your senior year of high school. And, after a few years, you can definitely say that dating Mechanic!Sukuna surely comes with its perks.

You get your car fixed for free.

You get your car washed for free.

You get to watch as your car is fixed for free.

And that's only naming a few examples.

But, did I forget to mention, that, your mechanic is super hot as well? It doesn't help that Sukuna often does his work on vehicles while shirtless, wearing nothing but grey sweatpants. This always attracts attention from your neighbors. But, because everyone is always a little intimidated by his tattoos and build, none of them have ever approached your boyfriend.

Well, until today. . .

You were standing with your hands behind your back, watching Sukuna as he did his work. It was a pretty hot day, but Sukuna never wore a shirt inside the house anyway, so when he went outside to your car, he didn't bother throwing on a tank. His hair was out of his face, courtesy of a headband you had gifted him, and he frequently wiped sweat and grime from his forehead.

Biting your lip at the sight, you were about to offer getting a cool drink for your boyfriend, but before you could open your mouth, someone else beat you to it.

"Sorry to bother, sir," a woman your age approached, saying, in a sweet tone, "but do you think you could take a look at my car for me some time? I don't know how to—"

Without even glancing at the lady, Sukuna gave a curt reply. "You can just book an appointment at my shop. Hey," Sukuna called out to you, "can you get my business card? I think I have some near the front door."

You forced a smile at the lady, who seemed to only notice your presence when Sukuna turned to you. But before you could walk into the house, you stopped in your tracks at the sound of her persistent voice coming again.

"Oh, I was actually wondering if you, personally, could take a look at it. You know, a gal can only know so much about cars," she laughed. "And, I think it would be a perfect opportunity to get to know my neighbor, don't you think?"

Disregarding that last part, Sukuna paused before saying, "No, I don't. But I can assure you my colleagues will be able to fix up your car for you just fine."

"Oh, but—but you're fixing up her car."

Standing up, Sukuna stretched once he was done with his work. "Is that a problem?" he asked, placing a hand on your back as he began to walk back into the house.

"Well—err," she bit her lip, searching for an answer before he could leave, "she didn't even pay you! I'm sure someone with your skill deserves a hefty tip, too. I'll show you a good time after you fix my car."

Sukuna couldn't help but roll his eyes at that, having finally given up on getting this nuisance to leave him alone.

"Okay, ma'am, that won't be necessary. If you need my business card still, you should probably come by a little later. 'Cause I'm about to have a good time, right now."

He said those last words with purpose and as a warning, and with that, he slammed the door shut in her face.

GOODBYE THIS IS THE CUTEST THING EVER

childhood friends to lovers with yuuji is like he’s five and he catches frogs in the lake near his house on weekends fishing w his grandpa and brings them to you like a courting gift (and gets sad when his grandpa tells him he’s got to let them go again, but yuuji promises to catch even more for you next weekend). he’s six and learns he likes to cook and starts making snacks for you and always sits next to you at lunch to give them to you. he’s seven and very definitive that you’re his best friend in the whole world and he doesn’t leave your side during class or lunch or recess or ever. he’s eight and you’re much better at reading than him, but he’s not jealous or upset because that means sometimes you read the harder books to/with him and he learns he loves hearing your voice when you read out loud. he’s nine when he learns he’s got an older brother and even tho he takes to choso quickly, he doesn’t really trust him until you meet choso and declare that you think he’s cool. he’s ten and that summer you go away to sleep away camp for the first time and yuuji cries the first night you’re gone, but choso helps him write and mail letters to you while you’re away, and every weekend yuuji is up 8am to greet the mailman and receive his letter back from you.

he’s eleven when you both start middle school and it’s the first time you both aren’t in the same homeroom, but that doesn’t stop yuuji—he’s sitting by your desk before you even get to school, he’s outside of your classroom before lunch, walks to your classroom after lunch, the first face you see. he’s twelve the first time he realizes that you’re pretty—you’ve always been pretty, but this is different; you’re pretty like sunlight, pretty like his favorite meal, pretty like feeling of coming home. you’re thirteen the first time you get a love letter on valentine’s day, but it’s not from yuuji—it’s another boy in your homeroom that yuuji doesn’t like very much and he never knew why until that day.

once he learns he likes to cook, he starts making snacks for you and gives them to you at lunch and it escalates into packing you bentos almost every day when you two start high school. he’s sixteen when prom rolls around and he’s rocking on his heels asking you to go with him—“as friends, you know haha. if you want, since you’re not going with anybody else and—well megumi and nobara are doing the same thing so i thought? maybe it would work for us, too?”—and when you say yes he tries to play it cool but he jumps and clicks his heels on his way to run and tell megumi about it (and then choso takes approximately 400 pictures of you and yuuji before you two head off to the dance).

it’s not until he’s twenty and a junior in college, and you’ve caught your first sort of serious boyfriend cheating that yuuji finally says something. he always says he wishes it was more romantic, but even now at twenty-six as you watch yuuji laugh with everyone at your rehearsal dinner, and look the collage of pictures choso has proudly displayed, you can’t help but think that it was the perfect confession—that everything about yuuji has always been perfect and that you’re beyond lucky to have him. and when yuuji catches your eye across the table, he smiles all dopey again like he’s five and just caught that frog for you for the first time and you’ve become the center of his world all over again.

one thing i love about fruits basket is that every time two characters hug it means so much more than a kiss would. like in the scene where kyo confesses to tohru the kiss still made me so happy and i loved it, but the hug literally made me start crying bc i felt like it meant sm more

maybe its because of the whole not being able to physically get close to each other for most of the series, but every single hug was just so much more precious to me <33
