I hope this message finds you and your family in good health. My name is Eman Zaqout from Gaza. I am reaching you out to seek your urgent help in spreading the word about our fundraiser. I lost both my home and my job due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and we are facing catastrophic living conditions. 💔

i think the most i can say right now is: yes he was a horrible person, no he didn't deserve to die, yes i feel sorry for his friends and family, and yes we should all be concerned about how people are going to treat maya henry and other victims of abuse after this.

One of the RCMP officers said they wouldn’t go to a reservation to help, further proof that they don’t care about Indingenous people and that lots of Canadian cops are indifferent to Missing and Murdered Indigenous women.
it's an interesting statement from an RCMP pig, right? because they do go onto reservations- but it never seems to be to "help" people
they go there to kill, to enforce the seizure of land, to further the colonial state's interests
it's not that RCMP assholes never go to the rez, it's that they never go there with a clean conscience
#the rcmp were literally created to ruin our indigenous people#like the fact that they still exist when they were founded on racism#is INSANE to me#fuck them

It will never not baffle me how hard society tries to insist that fatness is an abnormality. The average western woman wears plus size clothing. One of the smallest garments on the scale is called a medium. Most people with anorexia are in the overweight bmi category, yet somehow that's known as "atypical anorexia". Fatness is often labeled the cause of a number of diseases, but there are literally no diseases exclusive to fat bodies. Looking at movies and television, you'd think the world was 98% thin people. It's not.
My point isn't that if it was pretty rare to be fat, fatphobia would be okay. Of course not.
My point is that we're surrounded by all these artificial indicators that fatness is unnatural and uncommon and it's just not true?? Humans are not always thin and we've never all been thin and we're not all meant to be thin. Fat humans are a normal type of human. Fatness is a feature, not a bug.

this speaking as a cis person. Nothing brings me more joy seeing people find gender euphoria in becoming a mediocre representation of humanity. And I mean that so genuinely. Local boy finds joy and fulfillment wearing a cargo shorts and t-shirt combo. Local girl has transitioned to look like someone's disheveled aunt, has never been happier. Local person experiences gender euphoria rocking the world's worst bowl-cut. Without a scap of irony, this shit makes me see the wonder and whimsy in just, being a human. An average, person going through their day-to-day, is a wondrous thing? That's amazing. And heteronormativity has stripped these experiences of their joy. Like you're right, wearing a basic girlypop skirt should make my heart sing. Why not? Why are these expressions lesser because they're normal? All this to say. Shoutout to all the basic bitches out there. Yes that polo shirt does make you look like a divorced golfer dad. Yes, that too is kind of a slay, now that I think of it.

Each year, September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.
This day aligns with the time of year when Indigenous children were forcibly taken from their homes to attend residential schools. Many did not return home, many were traumatized for life, and some have been brave enough to share their stories.
The day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities - where subsequent generations are still impacted by the mass institutionalization, assimilation and genocide of Canada's indigenous population.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission ran from 2008 to 2015 and provided those directly or indirectly affected by the legacy of the residential schools policy with an opportunity to share their stories and experiences. The Commission released its final report detailing 94 calls to action. (source)
Of the 94 calls to action, Indigenous Watchdog found that 81 remain incomplete since their announcement in 2015. (source)
I have lived my life thus far on the territory of the Treaty 7 nations - which include the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Stoney Nakoda Nations, and the Métis Nation, Region 3. I am humbled and grateful to acknowledge those who came before me.
