OutofFlame:
I really kinda vanished and I'm so sorry. Kinda went on hiatus without telling ANYONE and it really wasn't fair you you guys.
Lusa muse has been extremely fickle with me and is here one moment and gone the next so I'm just letting her take her time with coming back (which is hopefully soon!)

After the sound of the closing door, she felt him unlock her binds, which caused Lusacan to stretch out of need to feel somewhat free.
"Thank you for such kindness... also I am sorry for that energy you felt, I shall do better to rein in what I am." Her words were soft, kind even as she reassured herself that her skin was not too badly bruised. Her elliptical irises finally began to adjust to the light of the room now that the source of her stress was not there.
She looked toward the door, a scowl lined her features. "As I have heard said, no good deed goes unpunished. Injured was one of their own... I gave aid and still they seek to cage me." A scoff left her. Her mannerisms were old, her dialect endangered it seemed. She could not bring herself to mimic the tongues of Kirkwall, not now at least.
"Forgive my rudeness but I am Lusacan."
Will the Circle Be Unbroken?
Orsino, ever stubborn, argued with the Templars angrily, claiming that he cannot drop nor push other Harrowings scheduled out of the way just because they had a bad feeling about yet another mage. He gestured as he spoke, stepping closer to the Templars and the woman before him, his brow knitted together in annoyance and rage.
“I’ll schedule her Harrowing for next week.” He hissed, placing a hand on her shoulder. The sheer pulse of power he felt from her nearly made him jerk his hand away in surprise, but he fought the urge and coaxed her out of the Templar’s grasp. It took a good while, but he finally managed to not only shoo the armored men away, but also obtain the key to her shackles. Whatever it is she had done to get shackled must’ve been pretty bad…though he was sure it wasn’t as bad as he was told.
The knights planted themselves at the end of the hall and he slowly shut the door.

The Templars that brought her into the room nearly teetered her off balance with a push to urge her before this male. She wanted growl and hiss, shed this human flesh in favor of her true scales and leave. But Lusacan knew better; for the moment she would do as they asked.
They spoke first, speaking about how she needed this "Harrowing" done right away... they didn't trust her "demon eyes". She shuddered at their urgency to harm and maim her... if she hadn't used a healing to one of their own that was injured this would not have happened...
She brought up her shackled hands to move her dark hair from her dirtied face to better see the one before her, the one who's soul, too, sang of the Fade's gift. He was not like the Templars that were at either side of her now she knew that much.
Lusacan tilted her head and studied the Mage, sensing his anxious nature.
Will the Circle Be Unbroken?
Either the Templars were cracking down within the city of Kirkwall or the mages who lurked in its shadows were getting too brave. Either way, several apostates had been brought in over the course of a few days and they had either fell beneath the rule of the Circle, awaiting their Harrowing, or escaped yet again. Whatever the reason, it had him concerned for his mages.
Orsino rearranged the books on his shelf yet again, thoughts running through his head at a quickened, alarming pace. He’d already replaced the books two separate times, from largest tome to smallest handbook, to alphabetical order. Questions plagued him, questions such as; Are any of them possessed? Have any of the apostates done blood magic? Are they going to give the Circle mages the false hope of being free and accepted out in society?
“Maker’s flaming…” He ran a hand through his hair swiftly, becoming more and more distraught with his imagination and questions. It took all he had not to chip a tooth from him grinding them when he heard the clatter of Templar armor.

Draconic Lore #2
Of Flesh and Soul: Blood Magic
Blood magic, though thought by many in Thedas to be horrific and wretched thing, must be looked upon in context by those of the Fade Dragon ilk. The blood, for a short time after leaving the body of a Fade Dragon, continued to emit the Irk'liu and was used for the most sacred of rites and rituals among the species (protection of a nest, the "baptism" of a dragon that had finally reached adulthood, or the blessing between two that would be life-mates, etc.).
To share this sacredness with their soft-fleshed brethren Dumat taught many of the magical usefulness of the blood and the rituals they might use to obtain a desired effect.

Will the Circle Be Unbroken?
The binds upon her wrists cut and burned whilst she was forcefully ushered through the Gallows and into the imposing construct known as "The Circle". Many held this place in fear and utmost wretchedness, but Lusacan saw no such thing; it was a cage.
A cage rusted with the blood of many of a period of years. Bars that were waiting to be broken once she felt she could stand no more.
As her brother Dumat had always taught her; it is better to try at least once than not to try at all.
Lusacan allowed her human frame remain intact, her yellow eyes darting about the entry, a small smile upon her lips as she heard that quiet yet collective sound.
The faintest hum of the Irk'liu.
The Soul's Song.
Her brother instill in her as a hatching that the Fade gifted her first children with souls, and in their joy at creation, those souls resonated and found Harmony within each other. It was her her comfort, her memories, and her sorrow... a lullaby for a half-thing, a hollow-thing that could never be made whole.
Lusacan thought, upon her awakening, that her kind were the only ones that that produced the Irk'liu. How delightfully wrong she was to assume such fact...
And how delightfully peculiar she found mages to be.
They, too, emitted the soul song but did not hear their quiet dissonance. They were ignorant of how deep their connection to the Fade flowed it seemed... no matter. Even though she only knew of the Fade was much of what her brother taught to her, Lusacan knew that these beings with such deep ties could do so much more if with a little encouragement.
Perhaps her capture and her new title of "apostate" could aid both her and others before she flew free...

Lusacan tiled her head and smiled. He seemed nervous about the fact he still became turned around from time to time. "Kirkwall is simply one of those cities that changes itself in spite of it's occupants' memories. For fun perhaps." A small laugh escaped her as her lips spread into a grin.
"Would you like to walk with me? Better to learn a complexity with another, even if it is "late in the game" so to speak."

“I am Elvimir, a pleasure to meet you as well, Lusacan.” He gave a slight bow to show respect, “Indeed. I have been here for a month now.. it is hardly as confusing as it was when I first came, but still.. I.. tend to get lost..” He laughed a bit nervously, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.

Despite the feeling that eyes were upon her, Lusacan could not help but give a great yawn before slowly settling her body down upon the damp forest floor to rest. Even with her body returned from its emaciated state she was hardly used to such flying and hunting as of yet, so long she spent in slumber with her brothers...
Lusacan made a soft, mournful hum as she forced her eyes shut as they began to sting. Her brothers... They were all gone now... Either turned to dust or in the process of infectious destruction.
She heaved a sigh, lifting her head. That presence wasn't going to go away so the only thing Lusacan could propose to do was to invite them. Whatever being it might be they would either run or come forward. "You need not hide, though I may not see you and I can feel you about. Be not a-feared."

Lady Zolstice: tumblr/dArt
A lovely anon pointed me towards LadyZolstice’s work, in particular, her modern au Dragon Age characters. I don’t know how many of you know me personally, but if there’s one thing I am head over heals for, it’s modern AUs!
And how utterly gorgeous are these artworks?
What a lovely spin on the Dragon Age characters! They look so ridiculously dapper. You’ve managed to retain a lot of their individuality too. There is just such an abundance of character in your artwork, in their expressions and their poses. I am reminded very much of Disney characters. You have such a wonderful understanding of these characters’ faces. It is a rare ability to be able to strip them back and simplify them. If one were to remove things like hair and clothing, they would still be unmistakably themselves! But we would never remove their gorgeous clothing and hair, because UNF!
While she does lovely work with NPCs, she also makes brilliant characters of her own: Anjali Mahariel, Sinead Shepard, and Carrick Hawke.
Thank you, LadyZolstice!
