Okay I’ve been having thoughts about this but I’ll probably articulate it wrong so here’s my best shot. More than happy to clarify/expand if it makes zero sense

So. We know many of us hc transmasc dew and rain and nb phantom/aeon right?? As well as others those are just a few of the most common ones off the top of my head

And I’ve seen some people talk about how it would make a lot of sense if the human standard sex/gender/anatomy wouldn’t align with the ghouls’ bc they’re hell spawn in hybrid bodies and such

Also, we are all well aware that internal gender identity doesn’t necessarily align with the assumed external presentation doesn’t necessarily align with genital anatomy and that anatomy itself can be ambiguous

Also most of the (recent) air ghouls are female presenting and the rest are mostly male presenting (obviously this has more to do with their unmasked musicians than anything but hear me out here) however water ghouls are most often (in my experience) hc’d as transmasc and we had mist ghoulette plus dewdrop used to be water

Does anyone see where I’m going with this??

Anyway. There seems to be an understanding of ghoul magic taking place in my brain that is too complicated for me to understand currently

BUT

Something something air and water ghouls with female anatomy fire and earth ghouls with male anatomy quint and multi ghouls with random/ambiguous anatomy (while on earth in their summoned vessel bodies, something about the elemental alignment maybe?? Not sure here)

And then external gender expression is up to each ghoul

And because they’re hell spawn and don’t have the stupid conventions of human society they just exist in their bodies as whatever gender or expression they’re most comfortable with at the time and none of them think it’s weird. Fluidity is common and assumed

Idk it’s been in my brain for days and I’ve been trying to figure it out. I welcome any thoughts to expand this or takes to make it make more sense

Damn this got long. Hope someone out there understands what I’m trying to say and can see the vision. I’ve got more ghoul hc’s regarding multis and the role of quintessence but I don’t have the mental bandwidth to flesh it out yet
