Christmas day Brunch at The Marriott... Breakfast plate: crispy bacon, sausage, cranberry pancake with syrup and roast potatoes, with ketchup. Fish plate: prawns with cocktail sauce and a bite of a lobster and avocado salad (wasn't a fan of that one) Roast plate: turkey with butternut squash, sprouts, roast potatoes, gravy and a bite of beef wellington (not a fan of that either) Dessert plate: cheese, bread, olives, a bread stick and a mini chocolate brownie with a Christmas cookie. Drinks: gingerbread cocktail, copious amounts of champagne and water. Overall it was delicious, my favourite being the bacon and the turkey! I also need to find out what was in the gingerbread cocktail...YUM!

My last daily post: 11.06.2016 Food Diary 3 year anniversary
Today is 3 years since I started my food blog/diary.
I started it as I was ill and food was making me ill. I had no idea what it was, however I was determined to find out.
I used to be in absolute agony after meals, sometimes not being able to go out with friends or miss parties and celebrations - either due to being ill or worrying whether I would make it to the bathroom (tmi, I know!)
I began by removing a food group, starting with dairy. I went for almost a year without pizza or ice-cream, it was hell. I was also still suffering. I reintroduced dairy and then cut out a different food group (I can’t remember what). Nothing seemed to work.
I also tried medication, taking tablets before every meal that I ate. That helped sometimes but it didn’t solve the issue.
I remember conversations with friends about being a vegetarian and my response was that I could never do it as I loved bacon too much!
What I hadn’t realised was in fact that my love of bacon was causing me so much heartache. From keeping my food diary, over time I realised that I actually ate a significant amount of bacon - at least once a week, sometimes up to 4 times a week.
So in October 2014 I went cold turkey (pun intended) and I had a meat-free month. I then reintroduced it with a good ole hearty English breakfast and low and behold, I was ill.
I have come to the realisation though that sometimes (depending on the person and the product) it is actually worse to completely remove something from your diet as your body gets used to not having it. When you reintroduce it, your body can’t handle the foreign product which in turn, causes you more problems.
Anyway, I initially thought my illness was caused by Pork so I completely removed that from my diet. I was fine for a while and then I started having problems again. This time, whenever I ate steak. Steak, I hear you cry! My second favourite cut of meat.
I then removed both pork and beef. Again, fine for a while however every so often I would still have stomach problems, really bad cramps etc.
In January 2016, whilst my meat loving husband was away, I cut all meat products from my diet for a week. I was fine. Since then I have not eaten meat and I havn’t experienced any problems.
I still eat fish and dairy, maybe one day they will go too but for now I enjoy what I eat.
So as I said, 3 years later I now know what I can and can’t eat. Documenting my daily consumptions is no longer required in my life. I still love food and photographing food so any future posts will be of my enjoyment; eating out at fancy restaurants.
I am off to Asia this summer so no doubt will have some interesting photos of the foods available over there but for now, I am no longer ‘living with intolerances’ and I am happy to say that I am full.
