One day in early September 2017 my mother and I travelled to London because I had an interview. While we were away, the man we all considered to be my mum’s long-term partner and therefore our step-father, pretended to go to work and in fact returned when only my grandmother, who’s 81, would be present with two removal men and moved out… with no warning. 

Since then, a lot has come to light about this man who we all thought we knew. Not only has he disappeared and refusing to own up to how devastated he has made us all, and is now refusing to mediate with regards to the house. We have now receieved papers from the local court that informed us He is now intending to force the sale of our home and is not going to allow us to try and keep it.    The house that he and my mother purchased together is the sole residence of my eighty year old grandmother, my seventeen year old sister and my thirteen year old brother.    

If a man wanted to move on with his life and break up his relationship, then that is fine; it is not that that I object to. HOWEVER, what is awful and not at all moral about this situation is the fact that he is refusing all attempts to even mediate or negotiate. He has always been a possessive individual, but since his absence, my mother has now found the courage to admit that he was possessive to the point of violence on multiple occasions, the most recent being during a family holiday this August which gave her a black eye.  He has now been telling others that my mother did this to herself. I mean what bollocks.

We are going to have to fight to keep ourselves with a roof over our head, as my mother cannot afford, with the limited cash she put into the purchase of the house, to buy a replacement. 

He has also said that if we lose the fight for our home, we must pay all his legal fees as well as our own.  

Therefore, this GoFundMe is for all those who have been wonderful enough to contact me over the last few months on my blog to offer support and asking if there is anything they can do. I hate to ask… but I am now being forced to imaging the worst possible eventuality: that we lose.  Anything you can give will be more than enough, pennies or pounds.  Thank you to all of you for all showing me over and over that it is always beeter to stand up for yourself, reminding me that women like my mum we deserve better than to be walked all over by men who are used to doing and saying whatever the fuck they want.    Men like this attempt to burn down women’s lives (and that of their whole family’s), walking away from the flames and still have the audacity to be all, ‘smoke? What smoke? She probably tried to set her OWN life on fire because she’s crazy!’

Well, that age-old myth won’t stand in 2017. Not anymore. #MeToo  #SilenceBreakers
