Terrible science experiment
Spiders and other arachnids size is dependent on oxygen content in the air(inferior open circulatory system) and gravity(exoskeleton will crush itself if its too big) and as cold blooded animals, raising the temperature at reasonable rates should, in theory, speed up their life cycle(this will come in later).
We could create an orbital station like the ISS(but much bigger) as a containment unit where we maintain the oxygen levels, temperature and feed/care for them. Over time with these modifications we would end up with spiders the size of hanuš from spaceman.
Why create giant spiders? Because we can Because spider silk is(proportionally)5 times stronger than steel and 10 times stronger than kevlar(later).
How would we harvest the silk and what would the best species be? We send people in the containment section with carbon dioxide fire extinguishers and machetes for defense, hand-held web harvesting gear and spacesuits as the oxygen levels needed for the spiders would likely kill someone. The best species would be the golden orb weaver as they produce the most silk and would reproduce and grow the fastest(approximate lifespan of 15 months) and darwin's bark spider which produces the strongest silk.
Having the spider ship in orbit works out best as in the event of “the spider satellite is about to crash in New York” the spiders would be crushed by their own bodies and would suffocate once exposed to our air.
this would still take a lot of time till we reach "giant spider" but its possible.
