forgot to tell y’all about my fake dating concept for kuroo! reader is a popular food reviewer and you and ur bf are trying out this neat lil restaurant! it’s gonna be such a nice evening… too bad he ends up dumping you before the water can even get poured into the glasses. however, it takes forever to get reservations to this restaurant, and even if he gets up to leave, you stay there…. eating alone… which in and of itself isn’t entirely pitiful, but the fact that you’re crying and everyone just witnessed the breakup is kinda makin’ things awkward.

meanwhile, kuroo is stressing out. he just got stood up, which usually sucks, but he doesn’t actually care about his date. he cares about the fact that his mother is visiting him, and she’s been on his back about focusing less on work and more on finding a nice person to settle down with. kuroo just needs someone as a temporary placeholder to keep his mother’s nagging at bay, and so he takes your ex-boyfriend’s seat and does what he does best: pitching ideas.
