Liberals have struck a deal with Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party do preference Labor below the UAP on their how to vote cards.

The UAP will get #2 on the Liberals’ preferences, meaning volunteers will be handing out how to vote cards that will give a suggested order for how to rank parties on the ballot.

This could instrumental in Clive Palmer getting a seat in the senate and possibly other hopeful candidates.

Which means Liberals are trying to contribute to the downfall of Australian politics and put a party in power that will do nothing constructive, and will be led by a man most famous for literally not showing up to vote on bills 93% of the time and also owing 800 workers hundreds of millions of dollars after taking millions from the company to fund his own political party. Surprise surprise: Clive Palmer isn’t big on helping out the working class man. He’s only out there to benefit himself, and Liberals are more than happy to give him power so he can screw over the incoming Labor government.

We took the drunk train home.

They were all absolutely infatuated with him and whispering about how much they wanted to pet him and then shushing each other saying “no that’s rude you can’t! just leave him alone!” so I told them they can pet him if they want and they were absolutely overwhelmed with happiness, while simultaneously being very concerned for his well-being, continually asking if I was very sure that it was okay and that I should please please tell them if I need them to leave him alone.

Basically, it was a great ending to a VERY long day. Sometimes people are really great.
