This may be a fancy xianxia with gods and reincarnations but what I love about it is the amount of common sense so many characters possess.

FL decides she likes ML so she goes for it! Instead of pondering whether she likes him for past or present she goes why does it matter. She then believes he wasn’t the one who rescued her as a child (basis for her initial attachment) and goes eh I like him anyway. She also doesn’t try to pretend to be evil due to noble idiocy so he’d kill her to save himself she just explains why it would be good for him.

ML hasn’t responded if he loves her because he genuinely doesn’t yet know since he’s been repressed his whole life. He is doing his best to figure things out and meanwhile has no problems expressing doubts if he has them about his belief system and also no issue pointing out they are wrong when he thinks so. None of that “my heart feels she’s innocent but morals of my sect declare she is guilty so she must be.” Nah he just gets out his giant sword and goes she’s innocent so I am not gonna punish her I have my own brain and make my own judgments gtfo if you don’t like it.

SML actually literally TELLS ml and fl that he may have feelings for fl but is not sure so he needs to peace out and think about it and also remove himself from the situation.

Even the sheltered and spoiled Gao Miss when asked why she doesn’t want revenge against ML explains that when he killed her dad he was possessed so it’s not his fault and he saved her to boot.

Like how often does that happen in dramas?
