When Lucky saw the list of events she immediately zero'd in on the Amusement park. Some of her fondest memories as a kid, and her fully grown adult self, are from amusement parks large and small alike. The food, the rides, the excitement radiating from everyone all made her indescribably... happy. The company also added to the experience. Maisie, her first official very very attractive new friend in Providence Peak, made the pull to that particular event that much stronger.
Lucky looked from the crowd in front of her to the woman beside her, and couldn't help but giggle at the high praise Maisie had given the Oreos. After returning the gentle shoulder bump Lucky took the deep fried cookie she was offered, stopped, closed her eyes and took a bite. A quiet sinful sound barely escaped her lips and she nodded in agreement. Before signing back. I love this. I want this every day.
She began moving forward again.
What's next? There is lots of food I absolutely need in my belly, but also there are lots of rides that I need to ride. I'm torn so I'm leaving this decision in your very capable hands.

Maisie walked along beside her colleague, and most importantly, newly found friend with a packet of deep fried oreos in one hand and her other signing dramatic compliments on just how good the dessert in her hand was. Her shoulder bumped against Lucky's as her brow raised teasingly, holding out the packet of oreos to offer the other one. It might not compare to a funnel cake, but there's just something about the chocolate and fried dough that's simply irresistible, you have to try it.

There was something special about this place, Lucky couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she felt good here, in this town. The week so far, had been nothing short of a good time, and this evening, Lucky was certain, wouldn't be any different. She'd been to wine tastings before, she loved Merlot as much as the next wine drinking millennial, but a night out at The Grape Escape, what a cute name, would continue her journey of getting to know more people and shaking her nerves a bit about it and this huge move she'd made. Honestly, there was a lot to this move and some of those things caused Lucky apprehension, and one had just appeared before her.
Lucky heard the voice, and it halted her. A voice that once made her entire day light up. She'd known this was coming, there was no way it couldn't but still it threw her off balance. "I.. yeah I like a good cabernet... Hi..." She couldn't help the smile that danced along her lips, in spite of the nerves building inside of her and prickling at her skin. "It's good to see you too, Nadia. It's been a while." She inhaled deeply before exhaling the words "How have you been?"
location — downtown, the grape escape booth

Wine tasting was the quickest route to an ounce of happiness. She'd tried her best and at the last minute, she'd fumbled. Nadia Morgan didn't fumble, and yet, when it mattered the most, she just couldn't get to the finish. The sore feeling on her ring finger was a reminder of that. The ink, once faded with time, was now renewed. Another sample, and then another. Soon enough, she'd just buy a glass or a whole bottle to excuse herself. "You have to try the cabernet," she hummed in a smooth tone, not bothering to look towards the other until two small sample cups had been handed off. Lips parted to utter a string of encouraging words before surprise hit her harder than the buzz would once it all settled in her stomach. "You're here. In Providence Peak. Wine tasting. That's," she trailed off, smile forged by the alcohol that was more certainly already hitting her more than she'd expected, "It's good to see you again. I guess we have something to toast to after all."

Lucky's face scrunched and reddened because of the awkwardness and guilt she felt for bumping into the man, but his kind reaction caused her to relax a bit, and as soon as she saw the tiny human, Lucky felt a bit of her joy settle back in. A soft smile spread along her lips as she looked down at the child before returning her gaze to the man speaking to her. "Oh I'm fine just getting my bearings in this pretty new place." She let a soft chuckle slipped out before turning on her heals and standing beside the man. "I'm Lucky by the way." She rocked from her heels to her toes and back again. "I think what we all need is some sweet sustenance. Please, let me treat. I bet it will help with your contemplation."
Kenneth was keeping a low profile. Unlike him, he'd been sticking to less crowded areas of town to keep his growing anxiety from creeping up on him without warning. There was something about walking downtown that caught his triggers off-guard; it was a feeling that he was used to but one that he hadn't felt in quite some time. Spring was never an easy time for him. The only thing that kept his head above water was the reminder that in a weeks time, he would be settling back into his life in Osaka.
He was no longer needed here.
It was that very reason that he'd decided to take his great nephew to get ice cream. Without his usual business attire, he felt out of character, almost as if he'd been tossed into another dimension without having realized it. Briefly, he worries for himself, finds his mind busy in overthought, his eyes go distant and his expression blanks; with his body completely still and his consciousness in other places, it's only when he's jolted does his mind and body reconnect.
"No need to apologize," He says with an amused shake of his head, his eyes finding Oliver's before they met the other's. "I have a nasty habit of standing in the middle of floor in contemplation - are you alright?"

Location: Spring Extravaganza: Below Zero Open
Her very first town event! Lucky grew up in and around Washington DC, and spent the better part of her adult life in NYC, so this was going to be a bit of a new experience for her. She wondered if it were going to be just like a Hallmark movie... not that she watched those... As she walked around taking note of the beautiful and colorful bouquets, Lucky thought of Delibes, Flower Duet from Lakmé, the dueling Cello duet she'd perfected, and then she thought of the first time she sat in a theater and listened to Tchaikovsky, Waltz of the Flowers from the Nutcracker. There's so much magic inspired by a new spring day, the thought made Lucky softly swoon to herself.
After regaining her composure, Lucky decided while she was taking time out to get a better feel for Providence Peak and the other people who have decided to make it their home, she'd stop into Below Zero to see if they had lavender ice cream, which happened to be her favorite flavor, but if not that, there had to at least be Banana, number 2 on her ice cream list. Rarely was her tastes without their eccentricities. The chill and the smell brought her right back to childhood. Lucky beamed and bounced on her toes before moving further inside. In her excitement she forgot to pay attention to her surroundings and bumped into someone... "Oh my lanta... I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention, that was totalyl my bad. Can I buy you a free scoop of ice cream or something that actually costs... have my guilt money."

IV. Biography
When politics is the family business, there are always heavy expectations on every member of said family. And that old adage is true, image is everything. Even before the invasive nature of social media, proper conduct in every public setting wasn’t a suggestion but a written in stone rule. Katherine Thompson and Michael Love both grew up in families that had some hand in the political world. From advisors, to lobbyists, to congressmen. These two families traveled in important circles, so it was no surprise to anyone when Kate and Mike found one another. The match was pleasing to their families, to say the least, they looked good on paper, a couple of lawyers headed for the senate. It was a perfect match, it was just lucky for the pair they’d actually fallen in love with one another.
The outside view of the pair’s life was picturesque. They married, practiced law at separate but equally prominent firms, before both throwing their hats in the political ring. Michael hated every minute of all of it, but there were those pesky expectations to live up to. Katherine, on the other hand, thrived. She was meant for that world, not simply breed for it. Katherine was a rising political star.
Elizabeth Elise Love came at the complete wrong time but she was adored, especially by her father, he doted completely. Three years later one little Evelyn Anissa Love completed the brood. Michael took to fatherhood immediately, and it wasn’t long before he decided to take a job at a small nonprofit and help support his wife’s political career by being the primary caregiver to their children. He had finally found his calling, husband and father. Music lessons, dance recitals, elementary school bake sales, he was there for it all, and never made his wife feel an ounce of guilt for missing most of it. He was his girls’ whole world, until that fateful day when being at the wrong place at the wrong time turned that world upside down and ended a life.
A young Elizabeth, better known as Lucky at that point in her life wanted nothing more than to make her mother proud. The loss of her father left such a hole, and though she was aware she would never be able to fill that space for her mother and sister she could portray the image everyone wanted to see, perfect dutiful daughter. When her mother went back to her office Lucky kept up appearances at school and helped take care of her little sister. At first she was all too happy to do it but over time it became suffocating. The one thing that gave Lucky solace when things got too difficult or her anxiety was too high was music. The girl was a natural with every instrument she tried, a favorite of every private music tutor her mother sent in, but there was something magical about the strings, especially the Cello. It was large and she felt powerful wielding it. Being the perfectionist that she was, Lucky practiced whenever she had a free moment, and that along with her natural musicality made for something like a prodigal experience.
While the widowed mother of two’s political star continued to rise, her actual presence in her home became more sparse. She always made time for them when it was time for a photo-op, Lucky noted, but her mother couldn’t be bothered when it really mattered. Evelyn needed someone to be there and Elijah was it. She checked homework and made snacks for sleepovers, and braided hair for special occasions. At the tender age of 14 Lucky’s Cello instructor presented an opportunity for her to attend Interlochen Center for the Arts. Lucky decided to turn it down, without so much as a mention to her mother, because if she were gone who would take care of her sister? Though it was a choice she began to have feelings of resentment, and though she never took that out on Evelyn, Lucky found small ways of rebelling. She got her nose pierced, died her hair blue, she was certainly not what her mom considered photo-op ready any longer. It also made for a few issues in her school orchestra performances, but when you were as great as Lucky, you couldn’t be denied.
High school was a continuous battle for Lucky and her mother but eventually, while the teen experimented with looks and hung out with “questionable” associates her mother didn’t approve of, they found ways of compromising. As long as her mother didn’t restrict her music, she would make it work, for her sister’s sake. In the end she was still that responsible perfectionist who deep down just wanted to make everyone proud, as much as she fought against that fact.
After months of rehearsal and a fairly intense application process, Lucky was accepted to Juliard School of Music, continuing her love affair with the cello, and still remaining close enough to home, to get to her sister whenever she was needed. The new found freedom away from the public eye was an awakening for her. New experiences unhindered by persona. She could go to comic con with other people who thought Vixen was a very underrated superhero, but most importantly who knew who Vixen was. She could just breath, and she could be asked out by the girl who she’d been stumbling around for weeks and say yes without the scrutiny and worry of what having a gay daughter meant for her mother’s political career prospects. What a revelation.
Eventually Lucky received her Doctorate in musical composition and began playing in the Chelsea Symphony Orchestra, following in her father’s non profit footsteps, as well as giving private lessons. She’d always dreamed of playing with the New York Philharmonic but always had an excuse as to why she had to put it off, but just before her 29th birthday she got up the nerve to audition and to the surprise of no one who had actually heard her play, Lucky became second chair Cellist for the Philharmonic.
After a year she was made first chair, Lucky was living her dream until it became something else. The environment felt stale and suffocating. She also missed having time to give lessons. A bit more time passed and the city itself stopped feeling like home. Lucky couldn't quite put her finger on it but something was missing.
A former professor and mentor of her's told her about an open position at Providence Peak University in Colorado, a state that meant a great deal to someone who once meant a great deal to her... She jumped at the opportunity, before fully thinking it through. A move like that, responsibility like that... Here's to a new adventure.
