Since I started learning German I have always said that someday I’m going to randomly message my bf (who’s native language is German) in it.

I have now decided I hate myself and made that “someday” his birthday. So, I now have less than a year to get from where I currently am to being able to write one of my usual excessively long birthday message paragraphs entirely in German.

Why not just use a translator? A) It doesn’t feel as special. B) If I message him in German he’s going to assume I speak German to the level of that message and I’d like to actually do that.

Thankfully I’m not entirely clueless in German because I’ve been actively learning for a year now since I met him. However this still does not sound fun 😂. Gonna try my best though.
