I love this AU if only to make G/ermania suffer through parenting in his late forties while he is also having a midlife crisis and being super depressed/at his brink. I like to make Gilbert one of those super impulsive intractable kids who cannot behave and has a million diagnoses like ADHD/Autism ODD shit and G/ermania is the type of father who is like well intentioned and doing all the interventions (mostly because he's worried about how he'll look to other people if he doesn't) but also SUPER in denial/dubious about it and out of his depth and struggling with his internalized stigma about neurodivergent children and modern psychology.
