one day i'll be hanging my wind chimes and baking my bread, and somewhere there'll be the soft turning of pages in my quiet house and i'll remember that i've been loved for a long time and loved for a long time, and never have to think of another bad thing again.

This episode just got awkwarder and awkwarder to watch with my mother.
We both rate in 9/10 (needs a trilogy) tho.

Imagine your OTP:
[Person A] always sees [Person B] writing at their desk, but doesn't bother keeping up with what they're writing because [B] writes A LOT.
One day, [B] is out and [A] needs to write/sign something and can't find a pen. Knowing that [B] has a drawer full of pens in their desk, they go over and begin scrounging through [B]'s contents.
Instead of pens, [A] finds a drawer full of unsent love letters.
To THEM!
They all vary in quality: with some looking like professional sonnets and others being as emotionally raw as "I love the smell of your hair the most". Some are even partially written, with angry lines drawn over a number of pet names they've never used before (but are actually very cute).
It then occurs to [B] that THIS is what they're always seeing [A] writing down.
It takes an hour just to get through all of them, and by the time they reach the end of the pile [B] has come back to a teary-eyed [A] sitting in the centre of a mess of scattered love letters.
They're shocked to find [A] like that, worried that they're upset over the letters. They're EVEN more shocked when [A] gets up and tackles them to the ground with a hug.
They're an absolute mess as they tell [B] how much they love them and all the letters. Even after they've calmed down, they're still very clingy and demanding to know why they've never seen the letters before.
[B] tells them embarrassingly that they never intended to send them because none of them were "perfect" and only used them as a way to pass time when they hit a block.
[A] now demands that all love letters be passed through them for quality check (even though they always give a perfect score to each of them).

What if when you die and go to Limbo,
You wake up in an empty cinema. The chairs are always comfortable, but there are no exits. On the big screen, the first thing you see is "THE END", followed by a long, slow roll of credits with gentle cinematic music playing in the background.
In the credits are the names of every person you've ever met in your entire life (even the ones you only saw once on the street and never really even acknowledged). This includes pets, fictional characters, product brands you used, etc. and it just goes on. Forever.
Like, the text crawl is SO SLOW, you've already lost track of time by the time you've gone through all your childhood friends.
There IS always popcorn and water in whatever seat you take, but the popcorn is unsalted and really just there for the mouth texture, and the water is always room temperature.
And so, you sit there for who-knows-how-long, acknowledging everything and everyone that has ever been a part of your life. For all eternity.
With the endless unsalted popcorn as your only companion.

When RWBY confronted Ironwood and the Ace Ops, it reminded me that Ironwood is a general, the Ace Ops are essentially soldiers, and RWBY are kids who want to save lives.
General Ironwood has seen conflict, has made tough decisions before, and made sacrifices to get the desired outcome. He appears to suffer from PTSD, not only from Salem but also his past injuries that left him half machine. He has compassion but sees it as a weakness and stomps it down. He's a leader, of a school, of an army, and essentially of a kingdom. He feels a great level of pressure to protect it all. He's the typical result of military mindset and experience.
In comparison, team RWBY are young, new huntresses. They weren't taught under military discipline or procedure, they just want to save people.
They kept secrets they thought they needed to, but they misunderstood how those with a military mindset think. Seeing the Ace Ops reaction reminds me they are soldiers, and Ironwoods "Loyalty is Everything" quote reminds me that in war and in the military, Loyalty is the most important thing.
In Ironwoods eyes, finding out that 2 of his own were sharing top state-secrets with the enemy (even if the enemy is now an ally), is a mortifying discovery for him. In wartime, it'd be considered a treasonous offence that you could be shot for.
But RWBY don't consider themselves "at war" or as soldiers or generals, they consider themselves to be heroes. The kind you grow up reading about in comics, the kind who save everyone no matter how impossible it may seem, because it's the right thing to do. In many ways, it's naive, but they are only very young, and in a desperately difficult situation.
In comparison, Ironwood has lived a long life of pain and sacrifice, and his spirit has been crushed.
It was inevitable that these two sides would clash. Team RWBY are simply not of a military mindset. Ironwood + Ace Ops are simply not idealistic.
I really love how well written this season has been, and how complex these characters are, really great job CRWBY!

True enough, but from both of those stories you also get the sense that, despite their sacrifice, the actions of the protagonists only created a minor inconvenience or delay to the inevitable onslaught of entropy that comes with the Old One territory of fantasy. It's true they were victorious, but what's a few centuries of waiting to beings that have existed for millions of years, all so that they can bulldoze a species that sees little beyond each year and has only known purpose for the past two or three thousand.
It is happy ending, but is it happy ending?
My contribution to the meme as I begin the long, arduous journey of writing a cosmic horror-fantasy story.
Spoiler alert: It has an ending

The secret ingredient is, always has been, ALWAYS WILL BE, love.
Fanfiction is becoming people鈥檚 primary form of entertainment right now because most media right now is so cheap, bland, recycled, and sponsored by people who love money more than the source material. Fanfiction is written for free by people who genuinely love what they鈥檙e writing about. That鈥檚 why it鈥檚 better. That鈥檚 why it鈥檚 more satisfying. Fanfiction is a home-cooked meal made for yourself and for your friends. Media today is junky fast food spoiled by too much grease and the knowledge that the people producing it are being criminally mistreated and underpaid.聽
