Officers, Beware of What's Coming!
Tumblr media
Here’s the latest on the #2 guy about to run our Federal Bureau of Investigation’s daily operations, Dan Bognino, former NYPD cop, secret service agent, right-wing pundit, podcaster, political commentator, conspiracy theorist, and a man very angry at the FBI.
Here’s a sampling of some quotes from Bongino. (Imagine if your police chief said them?)
-- “The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the single most corrupt law enforcement institution in America and a full-blown leftist political action committee devoted to covering up Democratic crimes and withholding the truth from the American people."
— “We don’t just fire the people who did this [investigated and brought charges for crimes committed during the January 6 insurrection]. Everyone who stood by and did nothing while the Department of Justice and the F.B.I. have been ravaged, ravaged by corrupt crowds. Everyone gets fired. Everyone.”
— “The corruption needs to be immediately defunded. The F.B.I. should no longer exist as it’s constituted now. The mission should be divvied up. The money should be divvied up amongst other agencies that take the oath to their country seriously.”
— “I actually think the intelligence function should be removed from the F.B.I. completely. They should go back to bank robbery investigations, kidnapping, serious stuff.”
There’s more unsettling comments by Bongino and links to his comments HERE.
Either we are entering into a fantastical dark comedy act… or the function and effectiveness of local police is about to be in deep trouble.
If I’m wrong and it’s comedy and hyperbole by Bongino and his boss, Kash Patel, well knock it off and step up. We all have important work to do.
I am sensing this is real; full of boast and bravado, but high possibility. What is threatened will be attempted -- and great danger remains.
I think I know something about what public service. I am a Marine veteran and served as a local police officer and leader for forty years. If you’ve worked the streets, you know what bullies are and how to handle them!
This is not how anyone with police powers should act. It’s bullying! And should not occur in Washington or on either state or local levels of government. Leaders should not bully! Now we have yet to see how the top leaders in the FBI will act, support local law enforcement, provide forensic assistance, investigate public corruption (and civil rights violations), educate future  police leaders at the National Academy, and share intelligence with local police on terrorism and other threats.
One of the promises the Madison Police Department made under my leadership was to always support our Constitution and uphold the “dignity and worth of all people.”
As Robert Peel reminded those of us who police democracies 150 years ago “the people are the police and the police are the people.” What makes democratic policing so different, for one example, is that when people are starving and break into a bakery for food and the king orders policce to shoot— they don’t!
Didn’t we learn that during hundreds of civil rights and anti-war protests during past years? Didn’t we learn that we can be peacekeepers and support constitutionally-protects rights like speech and assembly? Didn’t we refuse to assisted immigration enforcement (ICE) because to do so left a number of our people without protection from those who would victimize them? Didn’t we know that once we totally embraced Community-Oriented Policing everything changed for the better.
Brothers and sisters, we forged that learning through the tumultuous 1960s and into the 1990s. We strived to be what Peter Senge called “learning organizations.”
Now is the time to resist. Now is the time for police who serve people in our cities, towns and counties to define who you are and what you stand for. You must not be bullied into disregarding the law, the courts, or doing the right thing for the right reason. To be effective in a democracy, you must never disregard the suffering and vulnerability of those who depend upon you for their safety and protection, and to always honor the practice of decency, compassion, and honest behavior. Your people matter – every one of them.
The people in your community will then respect and trust you. They will trust you when they know you are called to be their peacemakers and protectors. And when that happens, the job of policing not only becomes easier, it becomes safer.
When respect, trust, and support of police cease to exist in a community, it’s all over — and chaos will reign.
Don’t let it happen on your watch. Resist!

He’ll have to be cremated. Any gravesite for someone this unpopular would be desecrated over and over for all eternity. Plus he’s a f—king traitor.
